Located in the middle of a city, it had close access (but not walking distance) to Santa Monica Pier, Marina Del Rey and Venice Beach. The hotel section that we stayed in had a unique room configuration allowing for an outdoor lounging area and some buffering from street noise from the front of the building. 26 blocks from the ocean is very adequate for a quick over night stay. It was noisy at night as the new unit rooms face a courtyard and some folks were up much of the night with no regard to folks sleeping.

The place was cool and I would stay there again. Although, I do have one small complaint which is partially my fault since I forgot to put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door handle. The housekeeper simultaneously announced herself and opened the door. I will not go into detail, but she did get an eye full before I yelled for her to get out. I don't […] know who was more startled between me, my GF, or the housekeeper. I hope next time housekeeping enters a room she waits at the very least a full second to give a guest a chance to reply. What I liked: the lenient cacellation policy even through Expedia purchase (no penalty if cancelled by 6 pm); friendly staff; pleasant, safe neighborhood; very convenient location near beaches, Hollywood and airport; hotel has numerous recycling bins; free parking; rooms with fridge and microwave and HBO; breakfast with fresh donuts, waffles, scrambled […] eggs (I think they were powdered though) and sausage. I was impressed that the staff renewed a discount for us even when I didn't ask. Overall, this is a convenient and reasonably priced base, but not a resort where you would want to spend a lot of time, though the pool did look clean. It was just too cold for swimming during our visit. What was not so great: walls and ceilings are thin and sound travels through. One night the couple next door had tense, loud discussions all night. I couldn't make out the words, but it was loud enought to hear the unpleasant emotional tone. Santa Monica lodging can be expensive, but the neighborhoods generally feel safe. This is probably one of the best deals in a place you can feel comfortable. Read more

Loved it actually. Overall I liked it a lot and thought it was a great deal. Very simple but clean and accommodating in all meaningful respects. Free wifi. Nice clean and comfortable bed. Only a couple of issues. One was that the heater kept blowing out the circuit breaker so that I didn't always have heat. In LA that is not such an issue but still […] would have been more comfortable not having to call down the office to get it fixed. They were very responsive but this should get fixed. Only other thing is the wet outdoor carpet on the outside of the rooms but that should be expected in light of the outdoor nature of the exterior of the rooms. An ice machine's motor woke me up by loudly switching on and off during the night. At 3 am, I went to complain at the front desk. The suction suggested by the clerk was to switch rooms In the middle of the night rather than switching off the disturbing ice machine. The next night I was awakened by cigarette smoke in my no smoking room as smoke drifted […] into my room from someone smoking in the courtyard outside my room. We were lucky to stay in the new section, cleaner, bigger rooms. The old section is really old and the rooms are small and they were doing remodeling in some of the older rooms.the staff was very friendly and efficient.

when one comes at 9:30 PM after a day of driving he/she would expect an advice where to get a dinner, right? The desk person told us there is none around?! Com'on! The hotel is more like a shabby Motel 6 on a highway than the Inn in Santa Monica. The pool is closed btw. 6PM and 10 AM.

This is an inexpensive hotel (motel) on Santa Monica about 1.3 miles from the beach. My expectations were not high. What I found was an older property with rooms opening onto walkways overlooking an inner courtyard. Nothing fancy but a comfortable bed, nice TV, very clean and well kept with plenty of parking. We were able to check in early. We had a room that faced Santa Monica Blvd and it was a little noisy during the day but settled down after dark. For the price it was perfect.

We were apartment hunting in Santa Monica and needed a hotel that was in the city, but not terrible expensive and on the beach. The hotel was a bit outdated, but still clean and comfortable. The location was also very convenient. My only complaint was that tt was a bit expensive for the overall quality.

This hotel is only worth it for its proximity to other nearby areas - Santa Monica pier, Malibu, Hollywood, etc. as far as quality of the upkeep of the hotel, I would say it's not the best, and looks a little rundown. There is a free breakfast buffet, though!

The Comfort Inn was convenient to the Santa Monica Pier. We actually chose it because we felt it would be close to the UCLA campus. Mileage wise that's correct but still took 30-45 minutes to get their depending on the time of day. The hotel was clean and in good condition and the front desk was easy to work with. We were awakened around 5. People walking in their rooms, getting ready for an earlier check out. Get a room upstairs. Avoid also the rooms close to the St Monica Avenue. Buses start early and so does the noisy. Other than that it was ok.

We were surprised to find how far the hotel was from the Santa Monica beach but that was our fault for not checking closely enough when we booked.There was a bus you could catch out the front that went down the 28 streets to get to the beach for only $1. The overall experience was good. Staff was professional, courteous and very helpful. The only disappointment that we found was that we would have preferred to be closer to the Santa Monica downtown area so that we could walk there. However, the hotel is located on a bus route and there was adequate downtown parking.

Not a place for a female traveling on their own. Rooms open up on to open air - no hallway and no real security. Breakfast was all starch. Unable to hold or store luggage for travelers. The staff was very courteous and there was computer access.

Other than someone's hair on my towel and the classic 'motel room smell', the room was fine. Noise was minimal, breakfast was plentiful, wish I had brought my swim suit..... The room was no smoking but you could tell that, over the years, smoke had drifted into the room.

Booked this hotel because we had stayed in Comfort Inn properties before and found them clean and good value. Nice to have breakfast included even if it was only buffet continental. Bus stop right outside meant easy access to Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach. It was like walking into the set of My Name is Earl. It was rather pricey for what it was. Everything was extremely old and probably had been used for decades. I also watched the Hotel front desk employees scramble to reassign rooms because they had given someone keys to a room that was already occupied! Yikes!
