The price was right and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was clean and sufficient. I wasn't to impressed with the breakfast as the de-caf coffee was not ready or at least the pot did not work. Coffee drinkers take their coffee vary seriously. Other wise, it was a good experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not Quite What We Expected"
We came in to town for a concert over the weekend and were not in our room very often. The following issues would have been a problem if we were in the room more than just to sleep (the beds were super comfy btw): A/C did not work, no alarm clock in room, phone did not work, no bedside lamp (only one wall mounted light in the room), TV had horrible […] picture quality (wasn't expecting high def or anything, but picture was super fuzzy and pixelated), there was no microwave in the room when it said there would be on our room description at the time of booking, and not enough drawer space for the three of us to unpack our clothing for the weekend (just two small drawers in the TV stand). On the positive, the staff was super friendly and helpful. As we were basically only there at night to sleep we didn't address any of the issues with the staff until we checked out. I'm sure if we had brought the issues up to the staff they would've taken care of getting us a different room. It wasn't a big deal for us as the rates were cheap for a weekend and we were barely there. The hotel is undergoing some renovations, so I'm guessing that's why there were so many things not quite right. I'd wait to stay here again until the renovations are complete. Booked 3 rooms, phones did not work in any of the rooms. 1room didn't even have a phone in it. Front desk was notified and still no phone for entire stay. Was under construction so expected some inconvience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value close to the university"
This hotel was under renovation when my daughter and I stayed there, so the facilities themselves were not the best. I suspect that they will be much nicer when we stay there again, however. The staff was excellent and strove to make our stay enjoyable. If you are looking for a good price near UNCW, this is for you. One small annoyance: If you are driving […] to campus or to nearby businesses, a median in front of the hotel prevents you from turning left (the direction to campus), so you always have to go right and drive almost a mile before you have the opportunity to make a u-turn. If you're a walker, it's not a bad walk to the campus, as well as to restaurants and shops. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Once I got into the room it was ok, comfortable beds. Other that that the place is a dump. Very run down and smelly. Could hear the neighbors partying. I was only here for one night, and I got a deal on priceline. I wouldn't stay here by choice. Staff was rude. I didn't try the breakfast because I just wanted to get out of there.
"One notch above E. coli motel."

The desk clerks on the day of our departure were extremely nice, but the condition of the motel was terrible. The commode leaked, the tub was nasty, the ceiling was dirty, floors, etc. The hair dryer didn't work, smoked, and had some foreign substance on it.
"Old dirty smelly and broken."

Stayed here trying to find a place to sleep based on other trip advisor reviews and research of other area hotels . Claims of renovation but none seen. Hallways stunk bad like mold and smoke. Bathtub had holes in it and sink didnt drain. Rotten and moldy drywall and lights flickerd. Parking lot is hot mess and hard to find a spot and afraid of parking in it. Ice machine was out of order. Woke up with a hack thinking its from the rooms. Also heard a small dog barking all night in the next room over. Glad we only had to sleep here. Would not recommend even for the price.

Checked in a little early on Saturday. Front Desk Staff was friendly and professional.Upon opening the door to our King Suite, we were very pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious and clean.Nice flat screen tv and furniture looked nice. Although the hotel is currently undergoing renovations, the room was VERY NICE, especially for the price. Breakfast was very good (although the breakfast attendant was EXTREMELY rude.) I have already booked my room for at this hotel for an upcoming visit to Wilmington. Brooke at the front desk is the most amazing person to work with. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are in the area.

Hotel claims to have renovated. First non-smoking room smelled like a bar. Second room had old carpet, paint overspray on the tv (which was old) and on the furniture. Ants crawling on the wall. Would look into other options.

Nice room, especially for the price. Room was clean. Nice flat screen tv and furniture looked nice. Breakfast was very good for the small area where the food was located. Girl that checked us in on second shift was very nice and we were a walk-in. I was worried because of the bad reviews but we had a pleasant experience. For some reason there was not a phone in our room. We did not even notice until we needed a wakeup call, but the radio alarm was very easy to set.

My family and I stayed here for a cheer competition for my daughter. The customer service we received from the front desk clerk Carlos was excellent. We had arrived very early before check in time, and Carlos made my family and I feel at home. The room we reserved couldn't accommodate the roll out bed we needed, that wasn't an issue for Carlos and the staff we received an update grade to a suite. The hotel is currently being revamped and I know once it's done it will be fabulous. The entire staff at this hotel was awesome as well. My family and I will stay here again and again when in the area. Comfort Inn in Wilmington has an valued employee in front desk clerk Carlos.
"Kudos to the Team at Comfort Inn Wilmington NC"

I was very impressed with the many improvements implemented by the new Management Team since my last stay about a year ago. The staff was very responsive to my needs and even moved me to a freshly renovated room when I couldn't get the phone to work. My room change put me in one with a brand new mattress, I slept like a baby. The "Capt of the Ship" Chris Owens is a model for other Inn Keepers and has clearly found a line of work well suited to his temperament. I cannot remember meeting a more accommodating, indefatigable spirit among the hundreds of General Managers I have met in a lifetime of travel.Over several days staying in the Comfort Inn everyone I came in contact with, from the Front Desk, to the Maid Service, to Food Service and the Maintenance Staff were all dedicated to making my stay very memorable. Great job everyone, I look forward to my next trip to Wilmington and my "home away from home" at the Comfort Inn University.
"Still being renovated"

The entry foyer looks modern and new and they have a sign up saying they are renovating. Room (floor 3) was ok but still needed a paint, new carpet and linen. Although the bathroom sink looked new so maybe they are half way through renovating the room we were in. Breakfast room was in a back room while they finished the new breakfast room. Standard breakfast but pre made eggs and sausage which you reheat. Ok for a night until reno's finished.

Ray O Presently under going a remodel but the management of this remodel is excellent. Upgrades are moderan and nice. I am sure for this size property it has been time consuming. Roman wasn't built in a day nor was it remodeled in a day. The staff was very friendly, polite, helpful and knowledgable about the surrounding area. Four stays and four different rooms on four different floors. All rooms were clean, warm and fresh. The location is excellent. Major highway in and out of town close with a wide varity of resturants and shops just a stones throw away. The free complimentary breakfast though basic had the varity to accommodate any taste to start the day. I would and will stay here again.
