"The McKinley Grand"
The front desk help was excellent...very friendly...funny, had definitely followed up with a request we had made for our room. No doubt the front desk was focused on the customer. However, the room quality was way below what I expected for a Grand Hotel. The carpet actually needed to be stretched because there was a "hump" running all along the center […] of the room. The carpet showed a huge stain that once upon a time was a major leak from the bathroom....and was never properly cleaned. The bathroom was dirty. The bed, linens and such were very clean (or at least we thought they were). the beds were VERY COMFORTABLE! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Its a nice hotel but needs updated. Wallpaper, bathrooms, double bed rooms have full size in them. Really nice car show room that is free to tour. Little high on the price for what u get though. Over all a nice hotel. I would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Pretty Good deal!"
We were stuck in Ohio due to weather cancelling all flights home after a work trip, and needed one night of accommodations closer to the airport. It was a reasonable distance to CAK and we got a very good deal on Hotels.com. Given, the hotel is older, it could use some remodeling in some portions (carpets in the halls) but overall it was charming - […] and right in downtown Canton - the Classic Car Museum/Showroom in the bottom of the hotel was a great way to use up some of our extra time - and we could walk across the street to two other museums if we had wanted to. We also went to the Stan Hewyt Estate to see the holiday lights, which wasnt far. Overall, good experience, but we werent there long enough to judge the staff or room service accurately. If you're not exceptionally picky about everything being brand-spanking new and can appreciate some historic charm- Great deal for an unexpected one night's stay. "Clean Rooms, perfect for a 1 night stay"
Arrived around 1:30, was told our room wouldn't be ready until 3. Asked the desk worker if there was a restaurant or bar nearby, he handed us a map that we couldn't read, asked him which direction to go and he told us "right". Found our way to a place to grab lunch, came back at 3 and checked right in, room was clean, mattresses were pretty old but […] everything else was fine. Came back in the evening and had a beer at the hotel bar, everything was great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wouldn't stay here again"
There was not a book in room describing any of hotel services, I requested one and they said they didn't have any extras. Water stains on ceiling in several spots. 2 towels in room for 4 people, i again went to front desk and was told that every room only has 2 towels and housekeeping would not bring more. Yellow wallpaper on our floor was peeling in […] spots. Front desk attendants were rude and not helpful. Pool hours were not posted correcty and hot tub was not working. "Very nice place and location!"
We enjoyed the stay there while I was visiting with family. It is a beautiful hotel and there are now more restaurants and pubs to visit if you want something in walking distance. The staff are all very friendly and the lobby is breathtaking. I would recommend this as a great place to stay. Honestly the rate was really inexpensive from what I expected... […] we would have paid more to stay in a more corporate type place on the north end by the highway. Downtown is more charming. If you are staying in Canton... stay here! "Not Happy At All"
TV in the room did not work, the floors in our room and hallways stained and dirty, hair on the bathtub, the food over priced for pre-packaged food, tasted like old soy hamburgers, the onion rings, and fries over cooked. The Bartender not friendly at all!!!! For the price of the rooms you would think the morning meal would be on the hotel!!! The drinks […] were over priced, food gross, dirty floors, hair, not so friendly staff, and to top it off.... NO parking for hotel guest, it was find what you can on the street!! OMG REALLY!! They were helpful and very friendly when we booked our room then after that it was down hill after that!!!! I asked one staff member how old the hotel was.. only 27 years old!!! I was shocked it looked like the hotel from the Shinning!!!! Old, dirty, dark, not welcoming, and we left feeling like we we ripped off not only our money but our time we try to get away and be pampered!! I would never go back!! "Old hotel that needs much work"
After multiple tries with the room "key" (card) that wouldn't unlock the door and a second trip down 8 floors to the desk, we were given another room. That "key" (card) also had problems but finally opened the door. There was no apology from the desk clerk. The carpets were dirty and stained through out the hotel. The mattress was completely worn out. […] This hotel was probably once very classy, but is now in need of much renovation. I would not recommend it to anyone right now. "Post have been over critical"
We were very concerned checking into this hotel after reading the reviews. We had an event for the family to attend in the hotel. I must tell others that we are world travelers, and live in an upscale resort town. This Hotel is fine. The beds are especially comfortable. We hardly heard the train, the bath had marble tops and floors. Everything was clean, […] with lovely appointments. Staff noticed there was a little mark at the bottom of the shower curtain...and on their own replaced it. The sheets and towel were changed everyday in a very timely manner. It isn't a brand new hotel...but of an era with a lot of memorabilia...but then again Canton isn't brand new either. It's a safe 3 star, with wonderful staff. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good value for the price."
I travel a lot and this downtown hotel has renovated rooms with good beds and everything is clean. Try Benders Tavern, about 2 blocks away for an exceptional dinner. The parking deck across the street adds to the cost but you can park alongside the hotel in metered spots for free if you leave by 8:00 am.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"hope you didn`t plan on swimming !"
was told room would be ready @ 3, but upon arrival it wasn`t. I had wanted to place some roses in my room for my wife, we were staying here for our 22nd anniversary. The desk took the flowers & told me they would have them in the room when I came back. We arrived back about 5:30 & my roses were still sitting on the front counter. we then checked in […] & went to the lounge for dinner. the meal & service were slightly above average, but there were only about 3 or 4 tables with diners. After dinner we were going to relax & hit the pool, but after going to look at it we quickly changed our minds. t looked as if the pool hadn`t been cleaned in a couple months. dirt all settled on bottom of pool and looked as if mold was growing all around the perimeter of the pool edge. Upon checking out, i looked under beds to make sure we hadn`t left anything, only to find discarded wrappers & a plastic soda bottle under it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Dirty room & read the fine print"
We arrived and were a little taken aback, doesn't quite look like it does on the website, needs a lot of updating. Away for a quick weekend however, we didn't really care. When we went to check in, there was a wedding reception in progress, and no one was at the front desk. Waited about 10 minutes, and when the gentleman came to the desk he was under […] obvious stress, so we ignored / forgave his rudeness. Go up to the room, and it was two double beds, not the King we reserved (weekend away with the wife, not looking to sleep across the room from her), as well as one of the beds seemed like it was lain in or just made extremely sloppily. Wall paper peeling off walls, water on the bathroom floor, and a tub that dripped constantly. Went to the front desk, was told point blank that "people reserve rooms on Hotels.com all the time and we give them doubles, it states clearly that the room preference isn't guaranteed". Refused to change us to a king room, and then stated that there were no other doubles available either, but we could go elsewhere if we'd like. Went back to the room, went out for the evening, and then returned to discover we were on the same floor of the wedding party, and although we returned at 0200 they were loud until after 4 and the hotel ignored complaints. Left the next morning for the Hall of Fame, returned at 1530 and the room still wasn't cleaned from the night before. If it weren't for the location and convenience, this hotel would be a 1 all around. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worth the extra mile!"
We came into the Canton, OH area to attend a meeting. We needed Tues & Wed Hotel accommodations. We were so surprised that the Hotels were booked mid-week with Corporate/Business travelers. We were sent to the Airport area Hotel for Tues after many calls, however after one night, we were NOT pleased with that Hotel for various reasons so we searched […] for other accommodations for Wed night. We found McKinley Grand Hotel downtown. We NORMALLY do not go into city area Hotels, but the pictures looked pleasing enough. We were happy with our choice as the price was discounted (had Senior Rate discount as well! It was $50.00 less expensive than the previous Hotel we stayed in and had better accommodations all the way around! The Hotel is near the police municipality. We are very security minded and felt very safe! There is garage parking connected to the Hotel for $7.00/day with a covered walkway right to the hotel. We were able to utilize on street parking for free beside the Hotel until evening which was a plus so we did not have to pay every time we left the Hotel to go somewhere. The entrance of McKinley Grand is GRAND! Chandeliers and open foyer! We enjoyed our room with the soft down duvet covers (last hotel had scratchy waffle coverlet - yuck!) It was quiet and restful. Only drawback for me was No complimentary coffee near the Hotel Check-In for guests. You have to utilize the room coffeemaker w/dry creamer or go to the restaurant or bar and buy it. No mini frig either. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"It is ok..."
For being a small town, it is an ok hotel. It is near the NFL Hall of Fame so I wanted better accommodations but this was the best in the area. The hotel was clean but I did not like that our room had the sink next to the bed instead of in the bathroom. Also, the bed was a full, not a queen. Breakfast was not included so we paid extra for a limited […] selection of cereal and bagels. You must also pay for parking. The employees were nice and helpful and even got us coupons to go the attractions. The neighborhood was not the best either. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Checked out early"
Knowing we wouldn't get a refund and a 7-hour drive ahead of us, we still chose to check out a day early because we couldn't take the beds any longer. In a room with 2 beds, both were like sleeping in a hammock! Great for some, horrible for people with bad backs. Besides the beds, the room service food wasn't that good, either. Food was served burned […] or nearly raw -- and quite expensive. The vending machines on each floor only contained drinks. You have to go to the lobby to get snacks or use of microwave. The rooms were clean enough and the staff pleasant. But I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to my friends or family. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good Not Great"
We visited September 2013 for our one year wedding anniversary. I thought the hotel was a little wore down... faded carpets, stained ceiling tiles, no fan in bathroom. Our room was not horribly dirty: the information packet on the desk had a grease stain on it and there was an old paper door hanger peaking out from under the bed. The hotel service was […] not rude, but was not friendly... The best part of the whole experience was seeing Leroy Kelly in the front lobby at checkout. This was an alright hotel, very affordable, with a restuarant in it, a few minutes away from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not what we signed up for!"
Wife surprised me with a weekend getaway without the kids for the first time in our 8 year marriage. We stayed at the McKinley Grand as it's supposed to be a really nice hotel in downtown Canton. When we arriaved the hotel staff weren't rude, but not overly friendly and not particularly helpful. After we checked in we walked past the desk twice trying […] to find the elevators to our room (since they gave us no direction at all). Upon getting into our room we quickly noticed there wasen't a king bed as we had booked (I'm 6'5 and its pretty much a requirement for me to have the larger bed). We immediately we down to get this corrected. We were told by the gentleman at the front desk that the bedding option was a "request", but not guaranteed. I looked over the reservation when I got home and it makes no mention of this anywhere. Again, we were there to have a relaxing night so we tried to not make a big deal out of it. The room was nice and clean. TV didn't have the option of getting special movies (at least the remote wasen't setup to access the options), but it did have HBO as listed. The pool is nice, although a bit outdated. Also, there is no sauna at this hotel as listed. It's filled with fake plants now. Overall it's a nice hotel, but we didn't have a very good night of sleep sharing a queen bed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We really enjoyed our stay especially since it was our Anniversary and we stayed there 22 years ago when we got married. Suggestion they may want to consider adding microwaves in the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My stay was horrible. I had issues at check in. When I booked my room I was told there was free parking and breakfast included. Neither were true. Parking for one day was $7.00 and breakfast (which did not look good) was $6.95. The machine to pay for parking would not accept any of my credit cards- which have plenty of funds on them and I had to go […] back to the hotel once again to get out of the garage. I was late for work. The rooms drapes did not close and lights from surrounding buildings were in my eyes all night. Not to mention the thought of who could see in my room from the adjacent building. "Convenient Area in downtown Canton"
The hotel was a nice hotel considering this is not a huge metropolis. Stepping inside the hotel brings you back to what hotels most likely were back in the 70's or 80's. "Not a clean hotel"
This hotel is ran down, dirty and in need of a major overhaul. The room was a clean as it could be, but it's just worn out. The work out facility was basically a hallway next to the pool that had zero ventilation. They had a large fan in there trying to get some air movement but it was like a sauna. There was pizza chuncks in the middle of the hallway […] and dirty glasses and plates sitting in the hall from the time I went to my room to the next morning when I left.
