My wife and I spent five nights here while on vacation. We had an excellent stay. Our only disappointment was the price of laundry service. In the second week of our travels, we needed a better option for clean clothes. The location to the Underground and theatres set us up for all of our week’s adventures. We highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel was very convenient to the Embankment Tube station. Can easily walk to Trafalgar Square, Westminster and across the Thames on the pedestrian walkway to the London Eye and a handful of "take away" or dine in restaurants. Rooms were small but modern, clean and comfortable. The tub was very deep so it was a big step to get in/out of the shower. The halls were for the most part, quiet at night, but in the morning the doors slamming w/ guests leaving and housekeeping entering was very annoying! The doors are heavy, but clearly the walls are thin too! Be aware that the "business center" consists of two computers in two different rooms. Only one has printing ability and it was down 6 of the 8 days of my trip. Often had to wait at least 30 minutes for internet access.

Arrived at 8:45 AM in the morning after a long day of travelling from New York, check in was posted at 2 PM, I was intending to leave my bags with concierge while I did some sightseeing, I was pleasantly suprised to be told that a room was ready for me immediately. The staff at the hotel are very helpful and attentive. They helped with maps and information on sights, as soon as other guests arrived or were getting off the elevator staff ran over to help carry bags. The room was large by UK standards, flat screen TV, coffee and tea maker in room, bathrobe, slippers, TV in bathroom and best of all heated towel rail and heated floor in bathroom. Location is excellent, one block from horseguards parade, across from London eye, could walk to everything in London. Definitely will stay there again, GREAT VALUE

When you check in the staff are polite, but pleasant. willing to help you and ensure everything is available to you. The room was well equiped and the decor was subtle but very smart. It is in an extremeley good position, over looking the Thames, but with in very easy distance of the likes of Covent Garden, Theatre Land etc.... The area seems very peaceful but near the attractions. Our stay here was extremely pleasureable. Would we come again? - Most definately.

To the point: 1. Front Desk is not warm nor particularly helpful. Checking in early? Don't count on it. Room upgrades, you can do but it most likely cost you. 2. Rooms are very nice. The shower floor was very dirty, rather gross. Other than that, room was nicely appointed and clean. 3. IPod docking stations. You can blast your music throughout your room and bathroom. Downside, you can hear rooms next door if they are playing their music. 4. Location, can't do much better than that. Close to Tube and plenty of pubs and restaurants within walking distance.

We chose the Hotel because of its wonderful central location. Unfortunately for our friends and ourselves we were given rooms with scaffolling with contruction right outside our windows. They were the two worst rooms in the Hotel. They did change our rooms to the opposite side of the building but the rooms had an internal view of a 30 foot internal air shaff and the jack hammering was still audible. We were also very dissappointed with the "attitude" at the reception desk. We had requested a view room and they said they had no record of that? When we got the bill they also charged us for a Continental Breakfast which had been "advertised" as included. We had no recourse but to pay. Their lack of hospitality and customer service certainly left us with a very negative impression. We will definitely chose a diferrent hotel on the next trip!

We stayed at the Royal Horseguards Thistle Hotel over Memorial Day weekend. At first glance, the hotel seemed perfect. The location was great and the room was okay. It was a little small but it was adequate for a couple. When we checked in, I was surprised to find out that although I was clear that I was staying there with my fiance, we were booked in a room with two twin beds. I asked for a room with a double bed and was told that there wasn't one available that wasn't a smoking room. If I paid an extra 25 pounds per night then, I could be upgraded to a non-smoking room. I felt like I had no choice - I didn't want to stay in a room with twin beds and definitely not in a smoking room. So the cost of the room went up by about $50 per night (horrible exchange rate this year). The concierge in this hotel was not very knowledgeable. On multiple occasions they pointed us to incorrect locations and provided incorrect information. We had wanted to walk to one location and the concierge insisted that we take a taxi. We discovered that we could have walked and enjoyed the city a bit more. We didn't have the food in the hotel (even though breakfast was included in the price), so I am not able to comment on that. There was also no iron in the room, so make sure you request one up front so that you are not waiting for it while you are getting ready to go out. There was a gym in the building but it was small and there were no windows and just a few machines. We went instead to another local gym. Unfortunately, the hotel did not have gym passes for the local gyms etc. Overall, the hotel was okay. In this time where the exchange rate is not in the favor of the Americans, it was a good find. The location is amazing. Right across from the London Eye.

Excellent location, Clost to the Embankment Tube stop, Walking distance to the London Eye, Big Ben, Parliment, Westminster Abbey, and lots of bus & tour stops. We could even see Buckingham Palace from our 9th floor window! Although the bathroom could use a good update, everything was functional & clean, and we were clad of our choice to stay in the Royal Hourseguards.

Great location in the heart of London, easy walk to many sites and the theaters and close to the subway. Breakfast was good with prompt service. The room was large and comfortable. The elevators were slow and small.

My granddaughter and I had a delightful room overlooking a small but lovely park on the Thames side of the hotel. Room was quiet and street noise was minimal. Amenities included decent sized bath with tub and separate shower, iron and pants press, keypad safe, electric tea kettle, and mini-bar. Our room rate included full English breakfast, which I found to be adequate...nothing spectacular...but an easy way to start a full day of sightseeing. The hotel is a very short walk to the Embankment Tube station and within easy walking distance to most London attractions and its theatres. My one negative would be that our room was not available until 2PM on arrival day after the long, tiring flight from Philadelphia. Otherwise, I was completely satisfied with our accommodations and would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

We stayed at a Thistle hotel in London last year and were dissatisfied with the room and the location. The bed was hard and lumpy and the location was extremely noisy. In spite of our misgivings, I booked in a different Thistle hotel this year and it was worse. I actually got a bruise on my hip from the awful mattress. There had been an electrical fire the night before we checked in and the hotel had no electricity. In spite of that they were checking people in with a promise of electricity "soon". There were open candles everywhere which did no good, the hallways were pitch black, and people were bumping into the candles. They did not offer to put us in another Thistle property and they did not offer flashlights upon checkin. When "electricity" finally was restored it was through a diesel burning generator, parked right under my window. This was still the method of supplying electricity when we checked out 5 nights later. The entire episode was handled with no regard to the safety, let alone comfort of the guests, but that would not have fixed the uninhabitable bed in any event. Also, the floor to ceiling windows in the room had no way to lock them and balconies were shared between rooms leaving rooms vulnerable to breakin. All in all a completely unsatisfactory experience and we have learned our lesson regarding the Thistle hotel chain.
