Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel

The hotel is nice in general. What surprised me after walking into the room were two sets of ear plugs on the night table. Soon I figured out why - the windows are so bad that the noise from traffic is rather strong - apparently they figured that it was better to be preemptive!

We were in town to see a Yankee game. The hotel was located in walking distance to the Harbor and the Stadium. My husband and I brought our 8 year old son and had no problems walking around town with him. The whole staff was friendly and very welcoming since we were Yankee fans. It was great. We are from NJ and we rather come to Baltimore to see the Yankees than travel to NY. We make a weekend of it, visiting the Inner Harbor, Fells Point, & Little Italy. They hotel is a short walk from all the great locations. Even though it rained and the Yankees lost, it was a great weekend. Have stayed here before and will be back.

THIS WAS A SURPRISE TRIP FOR MY HUSBAND FOR HIS 65TH BIRTHDAY. HAD OUR THREE ADULT SONS SURPRISE MY HUSBAND THERE WENT TO THE ORIOLE/YANKEE GAME. WHENT ON A TOUR AROUND THE HARBOR WHICH WAS IN WALKING DISTANCE TO THE HOTEL IS AS WAS THE BALL PARK. THE INNER HARBOR IS IN WALKING DISTANCE. THE HOTEL PEOPLE AT THE FRONT DESK COULD NOT HAVE BEEN NICER THROUGH […] THE THREE DAYS WE WERE THERE. THEY HAD THE THREE ROOMS I BOOKS ALL AJOINING AS I HAD ASKED FOR. The Hotel was that the staff was warm and friendly. Everyone from valet to the front desk was so welcoming. Great first impression The rooms were decent for downtown Baltimore and it had a fridge and microwave (I didn't realize they still had these equipped in the rooms but it did come in handy!) The bathrooms were nice and clean, The beds were comfortable. […] The stay took a turn for the worse when we kept hearing the loud ice machine (bad sound proofing or just don't stay by the ice machine) and we requested toothpaste/toothbrush and the night housekeeping staff never came!!! I had to call 3 times and finally on the 3rd request they came 20 min later! This happened again when I asked for an extra set of towels the following day at night and they completely ignored my request. When I called the front desk, they told me to call Housekeeping and that's what their number was for, not the front desk. I told her I tried them multiple times but no one was picking up. She was reluctant to help but said I'll try to reach them for you. And sure enough the towels i requested that night never came. The Avis attached to the hotel closes early and weekend hours are restricting. There is absolutely NOTHING happening around the hotel area except for the harbor area. No good places to eat. If you're expecting quaint and neighborhood feel, stay in a different location or be prepared to rent a car and drive. The valet staff and front desk staff in the am was EXCELLENT! Read more

The room was ok. The front desk was terrible bordering on rude. The valets were the only ones who seemed like they cared that you were a guest. Charging for internet access seemed a little like they were nickle and diming their guests when the charge for the room was already much higher than other hotels in the area. The service was excellent, however, the hotel could use some refurbishing. The carpets need to be replaced. The room was clean, but wallpaper in bathroom was stained and carpet was shabby. Sheets were crisp and clean. Bed was comfortable. Hallways and elevators were too warm.

Don't walk around outside in evening hours unless you are in a large group and carrying heat. One of the most scary neighborhoods I've been in. Large uncertainty to surroundings, rail station doesn't help with vagrants, many alleys and dark shadowed areas. However, the hotel is nice. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. We were there for conference. […] The elevator system was predated, making it a very inefficient operation during high demand use. Simply, the location is not safe for travelers without transportation. Very intimidating to anyone not accustomed to urban life in a older city. The hotel can't control this, however, the traveler needs to be aware that this is a factor to contend with. During the day, no problem to get around, but always be aware of your surroundings. The service is what killed this stay, yes it had a lot of people working there and someone was always around if you needed, but the problem was that if you asked something from the front desk or service group they would not tell that to the porters/servicers. For example, I called the front desk twice, and customer service once to ask for new towels […] (once at 9, 10, 11 pm respectively and then I gave up trying). We received towels the next day, but, I was in a room with two beds and paid extra for 4 people to stay in the room and they only gave us 1 set of towels. This was completely unacceptable and we had to call another time for the correct amount of towels. Thankfully it was our last day so it wasn't an issue, but if we had stayed one more day, we would have had no fresh towels and for the amount of money we paid for the room it really upset the other occupants of the room to have bad service. Also, one of my occupants got sick from the food served in the resturant, the Penne Ala Vodka, so I'm not sure what they did to it. Read more

The staff was very helpful, we missed our turn and a couple of the ladies of the evening staff directed right to the hotel, then one called and checked to make sure we checked in safely. The only bad thing was the A/C in the middle of the night it gets really hot. Also the resturant was expensive, a fruit cup & coffee was $10.00.

Perfect for attending Otakon. Relatively close to the convention center, comfortable bed, and working AC (unlike the hotel where I stayed last year) made for a pleasurable trip. The only thing that I found depressing was the fact that the hotel pool wasn't open at night.

It was a very good stay, with two notable exceptions - there was a daily charge for WiFi and there was no mini-fridge in the room. WiFi is quickly becoming a basic amenity, so it was a bit of a surprise to find there was a charge. Also, two people in my party (including myself) had dietary restrictions and cannot eat what most people do. A mini-fridge […] would have been a huge help in that regard. Other than that, it was great - the staff (especially the bell captains) were extremely friendly and a great help. Valet was awful. Because of wedding party, valet was backed up for over half hour. We were stuck on the side street and could not move. When we finally got to the front, no one offered to help with bags. As a mom with 3 kids I was putting my own bags on a cart. Not a good start. The room was small and not enough outlets to plug in phone chargers.

This is a very nice hotel under "normal" circumstances. However, they were too overwhelmed by the volume of needs for a convention. The staff was working their hardest, and were holding up well. However, we booked and paid in advance for a room for 3 adults only to be informed there were no rooms to accommodate us. We were told we had to pay extra for […] a third person PLUS extra for a portable cot. If you can't secure rooms for all your reservations, then don't overbook. Period. The room was NOT adequate for 3 adults, the cot was not comfortable, and the bathroom was small and not stocked for 3. Disappointed with the situation, but the staff was trying their best. Will not stay there again for a convention, but would consider staying there for other visits due to the hard working staff. Read more

I reserved a room with 2 full size beds, because 4 of us were going to stay here. When we arrived , we were told no double full rooms were left--- number 1 point that I was obviously upset. They told us that they would bring up 2 cots for us and give us a room with a queen or king bed. When we get to the room, we realize it is the "lounge/ family room" […] part of a 3 room suite. The bed is a full sized sofa bed....not even a real mattress bed. After an hour of being in the room, we noticed no cots were brought to us. We called the main office and were told that there were NO MORE COTS. So two of us would be left sleeping on the floor. The hotel gave us only free breakfast to accomadate for this mistake, after hanging up on us twice when we called the front desk to try to get switched to another room. I will never stay at another sheraton again after this experience. Read more

I was there a really busy weekend so there was a bit of a wait for any services, but the staff was cheery and accommodating. The room comfortably fit the 4 of us with no issues. The TV did not have Cartoon Network though, so we could not enjoy the Adult Swim programming at night. All in all though, it was a pleasant stay and would definitely return […] if the event arises.
