My family and I stayed this past weekend to see the Tigers at Progressive Field. We loved our stay at the hotel. Great staff, clean room with comfortable beds and my kids loved the pool. "Could have been better."
We chose Doubletree because it offered a console for gaming. This Doubletree does not...no console, no gaming. Room could have been cleaner. Didn't check in until 1 am...got on our floor to be greated by a security guard who said this was the party floor....at 5:30 am the Akron Police were across the hall (5 officers) pulling people out of two rooms and running warrant checks outside my door. Woke my entire family up...kids were shot by noon crabby and cranky because of the morning commotion […] and it ruined our day. "Call Me Confused"
The reception desk employees were very nice and accomodating. The hotel appeared clean. The problem we ran into was the location of our room. The hotel (parking lot) did not appear to be full but they stuck us in a first floor room next to all the cleaning crew carts and banquet rooms. "Paper thin walls, do not waste your money!!!"
I will never stay at this hotel again! It's to bad because the staff that checked me in were wonderful and the rooms were very nice but the wall are paper thin! You can hear everything!!! I had been driving for nine hours and finally got to the hotel for some rest and relaxation before heading to bed to get up and drive another four hours the following […] day. The noise was horrible from 10 pm and didn't stop until midnight when I finally called the front desk and they had to send security to the floor I was staying on. I thought the noise had stopped but I was woken up yet again at 3:15 to people slamming their doors over and over and beeping their car alarms. During checkout I was asked how my stay was and I was honest, they offered me a free breakfast, I declined because I didn't have time and honestly wanted to get out of the hotel. The woman seemed apologetic and said they would refund me for the night but couldn't right then because I booked the room through Expedia and told me to contact them and they would take care of it. THEY HAVEN'T!!! Expedia called them and no one ever made a note as to what happened and I have called them numerous times and keep getting the run around. We had booked this hotel for a two night stay for a business trip. After traveling 4 hours, we were told that the hotel was over booked and no rooms were available. Even though we had our confirmation with us, the manger on duty had basically a.....sorry for your luck.....kind of attitude. Being a business owner myself, I was astounded by his attitude. […] I will say, however, that the nice woman with hotels.com took care of us and found us another room. Unfortunately (through no fault of hers), it took about another two hours before we could settle in for the night. Bottom line for us. The month of February I have stayed at this hotel four times and have always been impressed until this last stay, March 1. First my room key would not work. I had to leave my belongings left unattended and see what the problem was, twice. Pleasantly surprised by the updated decor. The room felt classy and upscale. The beds were a tad soft but comfortable. There was zero noise from the heating/cooling system. There was a kids' hockey tournament where the kids, families and coaches stayed at the hotel. The kids set up mini hockey nets in the hallway and were making all sorts of commotion. Parents were congregating in the hallway drinking and talking very loudly, laughing from about 8PM to 11PM.
