ISLA GRAND BEACH RESORT - South Padre Island 26.08671, -97.16395

We stayed in one of the cabanas on the bottom floor (not the high rise). We were just yards from the beach and we loved it. The hotel condition is not perfect, it is a little outdated but the location makes up for it. We loved sitting outside our room in the evenings watching the waves and having a drink. We will definately stay here again.

Everything is excellent, the only "but" is the parking lot, anyone could go into it, the hotel needs to include a car tag to identify the people in the hotel, and don’t let strangers go in.

Hotel corridor along room 110 is popular public access to the beach. There was a daily parade of coolers and wagons of beach chairs. The amenities you see in the pictures may as well be a public park. One pool side table was literally piled high with groceries for the day and a man in long pants slept on the concrete under it at 2:00 in the afternoon.

I had requested rooms together and they were not, but all worked out. Requested refrigerators, but recieved none. We had 4 rooms and kept running out of toilet paper. Had to call twice. Rooms had no refrigerators, microwaves or worst of all, no coffee pot in room. Overall our stay was good and wood recommend for convenience and cleanliness. The staff did their best with what they had to work with.

The hotel appeared to be an older one. It had a mini-fridge but no microwave. Go figure. Room wasn't ready when we got there at 3:45 eventhough check-in was at 3p. Manager gave us an upgrade room with ocean view. Asked for rollaway bed and took them 45minutes. After that the stay was good. Affordable drinks at bar. Coffee bar a great convenience. Great pool area. Very close to beach. Price a bit on the high side but I guess they can stick it to you during peak season.

I think many people other than the hotel guests use the pool & beach. Our family has stayed at this hotel many times and it is the same everytime during our stay. We are paying premium prices, but people staying at less expensive places are using the pool and beach facilities at the hotel. The hotel needs to give out cards that can be placed on the dashboard of each paying vehicle. Outside people use the parking and the paying guests have to scramble to find a spot. The hotel should also have gated card key access to all the open outer outside walk ways that lead into the property and card access to the pool as well to cut down on non-paying guests.

I can understand if there is no complementary breakfast...wait no i cant. Come on even the cheap hotels have something. Oh and the prices for the meals are outrageous. It isnt Red Lobster.

We felt for the money we paid that the two bedroom condo was way overpriced.

With the hurricane last year Isla Grand was able to enhance their lobby and rooms. They now have sleep number beds which is awesome. They still need some updating, but I was happy with it overall. Be careful with the hot water, it is very hot. Also all one bedrooms are on the side while the suites are in the main portion.

Bedsheets, comforters, pillows and bed too old, needs replacement. Room smells bad.

This hotel is located in perfect spot of the Island and is beatiful with ammenties. But when ask about if Coke Cola beach party if its still going on the front desk staff didn't know much about the events going on through out the hotel. Come to find out it was still on. hop. I let the manager know and he was nice and apologized and let two of the four of my guest stay with out purchasing a wrist band. You needed these bands that shows you allowed on the propery after 8PM. I thought it was unjust that they charged me extra person fee at booking and then I had to pay for a wrist band for everyone staying there including myself, and it wasn't cheap (the band). The rooms where nice and the view was great, but the phone didn't work and the maintence couldn't fix it. So I never had a phone in my room for my stay. Check out was at 10 AM although when I booked it was suppose to be ll AM. I think 10 AM is to early.

This was a great place to stay. I was there over spring break and the accomodations were great.

When we checked in they told us we would have to pay a bracelet fee for everyone who had to stay and did not reveal that information to us until we got there and they said it was the websites fault for not posting that information not theirs. Check in is not until 3:00 P.M. an check out is at 11:00 A.M. sharp or they will give you another fee and the lines to get front desk service were so long. In the condo. that we stayed at the sinks were clogged and the parking was really bad.

I booked a room for my grandson, age 19 when he arrived they made him pay a key deposit of 240.00 dollars, I called to give them my credit card information, so he would not wait another hour for his room they would not accept my credit card information over the phone, The clerk wanted me to fax the information to them, I tried to explain to her that my fax machine was not working at that time. She told me he would have to wait, and if he did not pay the key deposit my money would not be returned to me for his reservations. My grandson waited 5 hours for a room. A friend of his gave him the money for the key deposit. I will never stay at this hotel.

Wow, does this hotel need an update. The room was smelly and dirty. Very over priced.

Basic room needs were good and we got what we expected from the reservation. Very low price for a good with an ocean view. The TV movies were non-functional. We found out the hotel is transitioning to satellite TV due to new ownership changes in-progress. Some noise due to construction of sound stage on the beach. The restaurant was slow and pricey. But, over all the room was a good bargain.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt the room and hotel was very good for the rate.

The location of the Isla Grand is great. Easy to get to, great beach location, and plenty of room. There are some issues that would make me hesitate to go back. First off, check in time is 3pm. Don't believe it. We arrived @ 3pm, and were told that the room would be ready in 15 minutes. Two hours later, the room was finally ready. The majority of the front desk staff were either rude or misinformed, and acted like the guests were an inconvenience. Three hot tubs were available, but none of them were hot-- only one of them was really any warmer than the pools. I understand that SPI endured a hurricane less than a year ago, but there are some in room and external issues that have just been let go.

All of the outdoor facilities were awesome--the pools, the tennis courts, the beach! We stayed in a beachview room which was very convenient for a family with 2 young kids, but the room itself wasn't very nice. The room smelled like mold, especially in the bathroom, which didn't have a fan. We weren't impressed by the staff--they weren't very friendly or helpful. I had requested a crib and a refrigerator when we made the reservations. I had to call the front desk twice the first day to get these things. The first time I called, they told me I would get a crib right away, but instead brought a folding cot about 3 hours later. A few hours after that, the crib came, but I had to call a third time and explain that we needed a refrigerator for my son's medication before they finally brought one. I loved all the outdoor facilites (and the location was great with nearby stores and restaurants), but I would only return if they did a major overhaul on the beachside rooms.

Stayed for 10 days. Loved the scenery, everyone was so friendly, and it was a very clean place to stay.Did have a problem with the billing but they were very friendly with resolving the issue. Will definitely stay there again. Had a great time.

Bed was very comfortable, feather pillows a plus. Carpeting seemed dirty and would need rug outside to keep the sand out. Refridgerator in the room a nice asset but no coffee pot. Heated pool was great. It was wonderful to swim in the evening under the stars. We stayed just before the spring breakers arrived and they were making preperations for them, so music wasnt always on at the pool and you had to go to front desk to get a beach towel.

We were surprised at the size, amenities and atmosphere of this outstanding hotel with the cost so low. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.

My son and I really enjoyed our stay last February. The room was clean and comfortable for the short time we spent in it. We found ourselves outside jumping between the pools and hot tub. Loved the unlimited towels. We were able to walk right on the beach from the property and return to showers leaving the sand where it belongs. Would have enjoyed some amenities like Jet Ski rentals or parasailing. Probably just out of season.

The location was Excellent! I was fortunate to have a room overlooking the beach. The room was a good size and very clean. The beds were sleep masters and the bathroom was beautiful. I think my room was among the newly remodeled ones due to the recent hurricane. There was no carpet in the rooms which I loved because I hate the stench of old carpets. The staff was friendly and I liked the fact that there was a restaurant and bar in the hotel. The only thing is that the hotel puts a hold on your credit card for incidentals and room keys

The hotel overall is very nice. The hotel is a little older, but it's clean. We enjoyed our stay very much.

A wonderful hotel with gorgeous views and great facilities - I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

It was quite cozy and quite! Love the location and all the surroundings! Clean rooms! Have no conplaints... Went during Valentine and can only say it was the perfect get away.

The Hotel and all of it's surroundings were beautiful! We were really surprized that we received so much for such a low price. We really liked the comfortable cobana room that we stayed in for our week there. We could look out our window and the beach was right there. The pools were great! They have one that is heated and one that is not, you choose. The nightly entertainment at the resort was top knotch also. The resort,s restaurant was really good too!Very friendly staff! We will be back next year!

We checked in and the first thing is we had problems with lack of or no hot water. This problem continued for five days before they gave us a differnt room. The management staff was rude and discourteous to my wife and the food in the restraunt was cold. the pool was great, the beach was good, but us as a family was not happy with the lack of hospitality from the hotel staff and we checked out early.

The hotel is great. It is different in the fact that the highrise part is all condo's and the regular rooms are behind around the pool looking out on the gulf.They had live music in the bar everynight we were there. It is a great hotel.

One of the better hotel I have stayed at.

This Hotel was just beautiful! The view overlooking the pool area was very tropical. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment in the QuarterDeck Lounge. The Hotel had some damage still but they were repairing it and it did not affect our stay. We will definitely stay here again.

we recently stayed at the Isla Grand Beach Resort and were very disappointed in the rooms. The room was very small and had no coffee pot. The view was great but that was it.

The service was real good. Frank at the desk was very curtious and I do recommend the hotel. Outstanding Hottel.

Location, Location, Location The beach and pools were great, loved the "sleep number bed" I would have liked a coffee pot in the room however--

It is a perfect place to stay on South Padre. Right on the beach. They have a dining room and bar. The waiter was very nice. Front desk girl was great. The room was really nice. It still had a little damage from the huracane, but it was clean and did not smell or anything. They were working on some improvements, but did not bother us with noise early in the am. We will be back.

I would definetly stay here again! Nice, clean and comfortable. Great pool area, nice bar. Everyone was very friendly.
