"Nice Hotel But Sketchy Fees"
The Capital Hilton Hotel is located a few blocks from the White House. The Hotel is older but it was clean and the room was comfortable. However, I did NOT like the fact they charged us for early check in (25 dollars). We arrived at noon and the lady at front desk (which by the way she was not very nice) tried to sell us this awesome breakfast package […] "Breakfast for 40 dollars". Then she said if you want room right now you have to pay 25 dollars or wait until check in time. What? I have traveled all over the world and NEVER was asked to pay any money for early check in. Especially at Noon. I understand if the room is not available, then the guest can't check in early. But if the room is available just let the guest check in. Even though it was only 25 dollars, we were very disappointed with this poor gesture. The service of this Hotel and philosophy can be improved. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel overall"
Nice hotel - rooms are decent size (I booked executive room), very nice toiletries, everything seems to be very well-thought. There is a restaurant and a bar downstairs. We ate there a few times, and the food was good. I gave the hotel 4 stars because of the executive lounge - the food choices were very poor (it would be only 1 breakfast item and even […] that would contain ham - there are plenty of people who for various reasons (be that religion or dietary) don't eat pork or meat in general. And it was the same thing a few days in a row... Same problem in the evening - the only snack served contained pork. For me personally, it was not a good value for the money. But aside from the lounge everything else was fine. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I booked through Expedia and was treated awful by the front desk. When they realized I booked through a third party (Expedia) and they could not find my reservation, the front desk staff waved me off and told me to step aside. I was basically treated as a second class citizen because I did not book directly with the hotel. Very disappointing service, […] I would never recommend this hotel. The hotel was good and very worth the price. Upon check in I was asked if I would like to pay an extra $40 for continental breakfast. They didn't specify it was per night. For that price the continental breakfast/happy hour snack in the afternoon was not really worth the price. Otherwise, great location and friendly people.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fine hotel - no WIFI"
The hotel was fine, I got it on an unpublished deal so cannot complain too much. Room was clean, service was fine. However, two major problems: 1. No free wifi throughout the hotel, only access to internet was computers in the lobby 2. My room was near the laundry chute/services area of the hotel so it was extremely noisy, walls must be very thin (although […] I suspect I may have been in this room due to getting the unpublished deal). The location is also fine, very close to the white house and near to a subway station, just in the middle of downtown so not a super buzzy area, but very practical. "I don't think they liked us"
After stating we were one child and two adults when booking through Expedia, we were given a tiny room with a double bed. The person at checkin told us the hotel was sold out and this was all they had available (despite the fact we arrived at 9am). After deciding it was not going to work - our son is a large four-year-old - we spoke to another concierge […] who moved us to a room with two beds (not sure how they found this). It absolutely stunk. Was right next to the bistro extractor fans and smelled like a mix of McDonalds and muffins. It was also very hot because of the fans. We asked to be moved again - we may have been paying cut price but it still wasn't cheap! This room was missing most of the extras - water etc, so I assume it's rarely used. They huffed and puffed and then managed to find a room with both beds and no smell. There was no apology. The next morning we went down to breakfast - which we had purchased as an extra at check in and where practically escorted out of the dining room. Apparently we had been sold access to the "Executive Lounge", not breakfast in the dining room. Huh? We had never heard of this lounge, though apparently we had paid to have access to it during our entire stay. Again, no apology. We were eventually allowed back in the dining room where we were ignored. We're a young family from a place where it doesn't get below freezing so we may have looked a little scruffy in our multiple layers of clothes. I don't think this was appreciated. "My Washington mini vacation"
Great Hotel with a wonderful staff. BIG clean rooms. Perfect location to visit White House, just 2 blocks. All the staff make you feel at home. Love it. Hope to be back soon.Genuine Expedia guest review
"One night in Washington"
Hotel was clean and comfortable. Woke up to construction noise early a.m. even on 8th floor. Room service salad was horrendous. The tray on the hallway floor still was not retrieved at 8:15 a.m. from the night before. Breakfast in the executive lounge was disappointing. Would I return? Yes, but I would avoid the food.Genuine Expedia guest review
"You are footsteps from the white house"
We loved out stay. We had two adults and three kids in one room. Plenty of space for the kids to move around. Rooms were very clean. I was a bit disappointed that you have to pay for wifi and pay per device. The staff was so pleasant when we checked in. On-street parking is a nightmare in DC. We decided to risk it. The doorman was very helpful giving […] us the inside tips. We saved 50. You can see the White House from the hotel which was a bonus for us as it is the sight we were most excited about. I will absolutely stay here again and plan to do so in June. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Decent place, misleading staff"
Stayed here back in December. Nice looking hotel. We got there a day early so we asked the concierge if we could book the same room for the entire stay. She told us it would be no problem, however she failed to mention that she would downgrade us from a deluxe king to a queen. We also asked about parking and were told that the Hilton valet parking was […] a better deal than local parking garages. We're from out-of-state, so we took her word and got valet parking for a certain amount per day. Later we found out local garage parking goes for about a third of what Hilton was charging per day. We got to our room and both my boyfriend and I were surprised at how small the room and bed were because we thought we booked a king. The T-shaped layout of the room made the room seem even smaller. We never got a receipt for the change until the next day and that's when we found out that the concierge had booked us a queen. Anyway, if you stay anywhere, make sure you do your research. I really enjoyed spending a night away from home at the Hotel. No complaints at all. I really enjoyed everything.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Stood here only 2 nights and would come again if the price was right. Location was convenient and centrally located where we wanted to be. I was surprised at the pricey costs of food choices and overnight parking fees the hotel offered. We found plenty of reasonable fooleries nearby with down to earth pricing. Beds were very comfortable and location […] of room was very quite. Totally enjoyed our short stay at this hotel and would come again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Convenient, close, very good breakfast buffet"
Close to White House which we toured. Close to Army Navy Club. Staff was very friendly and extremely willing to help. Buffet was included with Hotels.com reservation. A little pricey but all (including tip) was included. Convenient. There was a Starbucks diagonally across the street and an Au Bon Pain down the street for a lighter meal. Staffs were extremely friendly and rooms were spacious. Complimentary computer and printer in the lobby. Enjoyed everything but having to pay for wifi and tv channels were a bummer. Still a great stay for what I paid for thoughGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfy, Great Location & Great Price!"
I was soo happy that it was in such a beautiful and convenient location. White house literally three minutes walk! The hotel was super comfy, they gave us attached rooms so during the day it would open up and we could casually hang with family members. The price was super great. I was happy I could book online and pay at the hotel. Happy all over.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice stay in DC"
We came in for a girls weekend in the city. The staff was great. The location was very convenient to everything we wanted to do. only downside was the $47 for parking that we weren't expecting. I recommend this hotel to anyone.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Close to race start"
Enjoyed my stay at this hotel, just hated the fact that the hotels.com website says check in is at 3:00 and out is 12:00 when in fact it's 4:00 and 11:00 am, so we had to pay $50 for a late checkout since we knew we would not be back from the Marine Corp marathon by 11. "Clean comfortable hotel with unfriendly front desk"
This is a very nice, clean, comfortable hotel in downtown D.C. Close to nightlife, White House and the National Mall. I rented a room for an overnight get-away with my wife to catch a Comedy show before participating in a 10K the following morning. Like I mentioned the rooms, convenience, cleanliness and condition of the hotel are great, the service […] ahhhh now that's another story. We checked in late at 10pm for a one night stay. First service flaw was parking. The hotel doesn't offer the option to self park only valet service at $47 per night. I found a garage 2 blocks away for $21. We called the night clerk after midnight to request a late checkout to allow enough time to come back to the room, shower, change, rest after the morning's race. The night clerk was extremely unsympathetic and flatly declined the option for a late checkout. Mind you, we checked in at 10pm and just wanted to stay until 1pm if possible. The following morning after the race (10am) we called the front desk again from Arlington (finish line of race) to ask if we could PLEASE check out later than the rigid 11am time. After some time the front desk said the latest possible was 12 noon. I barely had enough time to hop on Metro, come back to the room, shower and change. I wasn't happy or satisfied with the level of customer service from this hotel. Hotels are in the Customer Service Business. Someone should remind the night clerk about that. The hotel was very nice. The staff was also very welcoming, always said hello and customer service was great. The location of the hotel was also very convenient. "Good location, great staff, nice rooms"
Stayed here for a couple of nights and this is one of the nicer Hilton hotels I've stayed. Staff was very nice, helpful and attentive, breakfast buffet was good, room was big, nice and clean. The wifi ($13,95) was troublesome to get it to work correctly, but when I went to the front desk to ask for help, they were kind enough to give me (free) login […] credentials. "Service your smoke detectors"
The hotel is very well located and in good condition. But maintenance is not what it should be. The battery in the smoke detector in my assigned room needed replacing and was emitting that very load and annoying sound it is designed to emit when the battery is low. I contacted the front desk about it prior to leaving for dinner. Upon my return, a few […] hours later, the problem was not fixed. "Nice, but noisy."
Stay was good, BUT they put us in a room next to the ice machine AND the towel supply closet. Room was nice and comfie as all Hiltons are but the noise in the morning was annoying and the hotel is so big I doubt they HAD to put us in that room. Also, the AC doesn't get as cold as it should. "NOT WORTH THE PRICE"
Facilities were run down, the rating for this hotel should have been a 2.5 star at best. "Great place with good cost"
The hotel was beautiful and very clean. The room service was great. It is conveniently located about 2 blocks from the metro stop for the red line and 3 blocks for the metro stop for the orange line. "Nice hotel close to public transportation"
I was really happy with the location. The Capital Hilton is located 2 blocks from both the red and orange/blue Metro lines which lets you get to a variety of places for low fare. The bellhop was really excited to tell me about attractions to see and gave specifics when I let him know I was going to the zoo. The only problem is that the bathroom is really […] small and the television was located in awkward spot. Also there were only sun shades no privacy curtains to close.
