The resort is on a very beautiful peaceful location on the bay. Villa suite was perfect for our Birthday celebration. It had one restaurant and too few servers. The food was very small in quantity and very high in price. The water tasted moldy, but the bottled water cost nearly 5.00 per bottle at the restaurant. he hotel was clean, the pool area was lovely. There was a seperate fenced in area that had a duck & fish pond, we had so much fun feeding the ducks & fish ! Inside the pool area there was a wading pool for young children, there was 2 seperate jacuizzi areas, there was a ping pong table, a big checker set, and a waterfall. "Construction at 8:30 am on Sunday morning?!?!"
The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful and very comfortable, however I can't say I was as satisfied with the service. My boyfriend and I dealt with 3 of the front desk employees on 3 different occasions and 2 out 3 seemed less than happy to help us or answer our questions. The worst of all was when at 8:30 am on Sunday morning we were awakened by […] construction. VERY LOUD CONSTRUCTION. As if it was happening in or right next to the hotel. A warning when we booked our room would have been nice. We were on vacation and would have loved to sleep in. When we called the desk to see if it would stop soon, the woman had no idea there was any construction and said she'd look into it for us. The construction continued until well past 11am (needless to say we didn't fall back asleep)... with no follow up call from the desk, no offer to move rooms, or at least discount our current one. Half the reason we decided to pay a high price for a hotel was to ensure a good and comfortable night's sleep!! I'm outraged that this hotel doesn't have better costumer service! This was my first time staying in San Diego, and we drove down from Northern California for one night, but I can't wait to stay again! It was right on the beach, the rooms are beautiful, with spectacular views, and even though we couldn't stay longer, they offered us a second night at a discounted rate. The rooms were a little dated, but comfortable. My "bay view" was over the hotel parking lot, but still pretty. The cleanliness of the shower was a little questionable. The staff was very friendly at the hotel and the pool area was very pretty, even at night with a few firepits around. The $32 charge for parking in their outside lot was outrageous and […] a dealbreaker for me. It was a large parking area where space was certainly not at a premium. The street parking prohibited overnight parking so guests must pay the $32. When I complained the desk receptionist was apologetic but... The giftshop was very cute. "Nice hotel, but no recycling"
This hotel was very well-located - near Sea World and right on Mission Bay. We walked on the bay path everyday. We also rented bikes and kayaks right from the hotel. "Unexpected surprises!!!"
The room and the bed were very nice and comfortable. The adult only spa was not clean there were no towels. The fire pit in adult only area did not work. My husband and I went for our anniversary and thought we were going to have a nice dinner on the bay. We had 2 visa cards we as gifts from our wedding and when the waitress came to get the money she made a rude remark about us using gift cards and she said it very loud and embarrassed us. The GOOD: the pool was relaxing; two hot tubs; the room was comfortable and had a large updated TV; and, the price was reasonable. Nice property. Didn't have enough servers poolside. Was also a wedding close to the pool, and they closed that bar / restaurant to hotel guests not with the wedding. Acqua restaurant was terrific. I booked a room in a tower as per the reservation. My tower consisted of 2 floors with us on the first floor. They were having an event when we arrived, so there was no parking for the hotel. The suite room was smaller than expected - the kitchenette and seating portion was unfortunately not a separate room from our beds, which was why we booked the suite in the first place. The Hilton did not disapoint. Got a great rate on Hotels.com. Close to everything we wanted, tons of stuff to do on the property, pool, hot tub, quiet space and it was right on Mission Bay. "Too crowded and expensive."
The hotel is very crowded. I think I should have done more research before I booked it. We got a "deal" on the price so we just booked it without really checking it out. We would have never paid the full price. It is a huge property so there are LOTS of people there. We tried to go to the pool a couple of times and it was so over crowded with children, […] we gave up. Even the hot tub had kids jumping in and out of it. The hotel is super expensive, $32 a day to park!! We saw another couple having ice cream so we thought we'd get one also and went into the convenience store to get one. Imagine our surprise when the cashier told us it was $9.00 for two frozen drumsticks!!! They charge for internet in the room too. There is a "free" shuttle to Sea World or Old Town, but only to drop you off, you have to pay to get back to the hotel or take a taxi. Overall, the hotel is ok. We won't ever stay again because of the cost and because it is too overcrowded. Even with the discounted price we paid, I don't think the experience was worth it. "Will never stay here again"
My girlfriend and I planned a trip to San Diego and thought we'd save money buy choosing Expedia's unplublished rate for this supposed 4 star hotel. We quickly found out when we got there that any money we saved on the room was nullified by the fees that came with staying at this hotel. The parking alone was $32 a night for self parking and forget about […] ordering any room service. A simple order of bacon and eggs will easily add about $23 bucks per person to your room fee. I've stayed in San Diego hotels before and this was by far the worst experience ever. The management was absolutely terrible. When we arrived we had to carry our own bags to the registration lobby then found we had to carry back our bags to our car and drive to the room itself. We were never offered any help with our luggage at all. The next day we left for lunch and when we came back we found out our room keys were mysteriously deactivated and we had to wait 30 minutes to get back into our room. To top it off, when our new keys finally arrived we walked into our room and it hadn't been cleaned by house keeping and it was already 5pm. When we tried contacting the front desk all lines were either busy or no one would pick up. We were never able to contact anyone from the phone inside our room throughout our entire stay. To check out we called their "zip out check out" line, which of course no one picked up and we had to leave a message. There are too many other thing too list that are bad with this hotel.
