"Wonderful except one thing"
Everything was great except for the lobby restaurant! My daughter and I stopped in there first day for lunch . For the prices the service was awful ! Will never go there to eat again !

"Sad tourist trap living on its name"
Overrated living on the past. Worn out furnishings, and decor. Mediocre food, expensive but not very good. Waited 25 minutes in a line to check in. Lol No room service after twelve. Filthy windows, worn out cheap furniture from late 90s. Crowded understaffed. Skip skip skip there are plenty better hotels in nyc. This is a tourist trap.

"Disappointed, but made the best of it!"
I had heard all kinds of wonderful things about the Waldorf-Astoria as being "the Hotel to stay at in NYC" - but I believe that it probably was "back in the day." The Valet Parking was a nightmare. The room was musty (smelled like dirty rags) not as extravagant as touted and the "marble bathroom" was smaller than my 1/2 bath at home! The lobby and lobby restrooms smelled fresh and clean. . . and I expected at least that for my room. Trash from previous guests was still in the room and the upholstered chair had a huge red stain on the cushion. There was a utility kitchen type area; however, no coffee pot or anything with which to prepare coffee or tea in the room (geeze, I had that at a run-of-the-mill chain hotel in Minneapolis, MN for a training visit for my job!. . . which had also provided toothbrushes and toothpaste!!!) All-in-all, it was my first ever visit to NYC and I chose the Waldorf-Astoria to have a top-notch experience, which fell short.

"Paying for the name..."
Beautiful hotel, spacious & clean, however the luxury double room was a little dated. That's understandable because it's an older hotel. I asked front desk for extra towels & toiletries, after an hour wait, I had to call again. When they brought them, they didn't bring all I asked for. Overall, this hotel is overpriced, unless you plan on staying in a huge suite, it's not worth it.

"Needs lots of maintenance."
First room they gave us was connected to a suite and very noisy. They moved us to a room that was quite, but smelled of mold (shower was leaking onto the carpet outside bathroom with mold going up baseboard). When I mentioned the mold to reception, they immediately moved us to a nice quite, mold free room. Hotel is in need of some serious maintenance.

"Frank Sinatra recommended"
good size room for manhattan, well appointed and comfortable bed. loved having a drink in and enjoying entertainment. very annoyed when got back late afternoon after a day of touring etc and toilet was clogged. needed to get ready for dinner reservation. called for toilet fix explaining that we are seniors who need to go often and when need arises so need help asap. Called every 15 minutes and assured me every time that help was on the way but never arrived until an hour went by. Next am toilet was clogged again as we were getting ready to check out. Told desk clerk when husband called to tell of a charge from the minibar which we didn't use but opened to store water. we stayed here because we were here for the Frank Sinatra exhibit at Lincoln Center and the Waldorf was his favorite.

"Night out on the Town"
The hotel staff made the hotel feel like a visit with old friends. The lobby was Art Deco and the room was very comfortable early 20th century American. Great location for tranquilly at night and access to nightlife.

"Old school New York class"
Took my 16 year old daughter for her first stay. She was blown away. The place is old school New York and wears it well. The room was surprisingly affordable for a night in August. Everything else (parking/breakfast) was expensive as expected. But it's such a treat and will be a great memory for her and for me as well.

"Bad stay at the Waldorf"
we were pleased with the room rate and the size of the room,however the first morning after our arrival there was terrible drilling above our heads. the facade of the building is being repaired and replaced.The rooms in that part of the hotel should not be available while this kind of construction is going on. Fortunately,our room was moved. This is not the first time that this has occurred in a NYC hotel. rooms should not be available when this kind of activity is undertaken.

Table lamp electrical outlet did not work. Outlets for charging phone did not work. Flush leaked. Elevator sounds penetrating into room. I got a discount rate and a room that went with that. Would not ever come back.

"Housekeeping Questionable"
So excited to stay here...so disappointed with our stay. Lobby is beautiful, check in was smooth, but housekeeping is seriously lacking. We stayed on the 24th floor and there was an empty soda bottle behind the night stand and old candy under one of the beds. Housekeeping knocked on our door at 8am and keyed in before we could respond. For how anxious they were to get to our room, you would think it would have been cleaner. FYI for those with allergies...super heavy fragrance to cover the smell of cigarette smoke.

"Bucket list type of hotel"
Ideal location and a landmark hotel to stay at. Beautiful lobby/common areas, great bed and shower. But rooms are old (they did tell us a renovation is in the works), had to ask twice for towels. I'm glad I stayed there especially for the summer special rate, but if I paid the regular $650 nightly rate I wouldn't find the value in what I got. It's a bucket list thing, to stay at the Waldorf. If the prestige, history etc means something to you then its worth it. Also the location is A+++.

I chose to stay at the Waldorf Astoria because of its grand history and glorious reputation associated with its existence in New York City. The hotel was elegant and clean, the employees gracious. I was somewhat dismayed that the desk chair in my room was broken in more than one place and the paint was peeling on the bathroom door. Fortunately, these were not things that hampered my stay. What did hamper my stay was the fact that internet service was not available in my room. As a visitor to NYC, I would have greatly appreciated the opportunity to use the wifi to research my would-be activities as well as dining and transportation options; spending time in the lobby making plans when I payed upwards of $300/night for a room was an UNACCEPTABLE option.

The lobby is still great (although it is dominated by the t-shirt and shorts tourists), but the rooms are from another era. Everything inside is expensive. Location terrifif but you have to wonder what you are paying for.

"NY Trip - August, 2015: Waldorf-Astoria Stay"
The hotel is nice but there was a mix-up with rooms. We were traveling with another family and our rooms were supposed to be near each other/same floor. Hotel was to correct. We waited several hours and when we went back to hotel, arrangements were still overlooked even tough that is why we waited to check-in. Rooms were corrected on day 2, but our room was missing clock radio and hair dryer. We mentioned to hotel but they never addressed.

"Great location but not much to write home about"
We picked the hotel for the reputation. We stayed one night in the city. The wait to check in wa way too long. We did a pre-checkin and we're told we could just grab our keys when we returned. We again had to wait. The bathroom needs ventilation. We did like the location which is why we splurged.

"Very Nice !!"
The Waldorf was our home for one night and was a very nice place to stay. The check in process was very slow and cumbersome but that was the only downside of our experience. The room was very comfortable and the bed very plush. The location was also a plus and very convenient for site seeing and enjoying Manhattan.

The public areas of the hotel are impressive, the location is excellent, the front desk service leaves a lot to be desired (every day there were long lines at check-in because only 2 or 3 receptionists were working) The rooms show a lot of "wear & tear"

"very nice place to stay"
wonderful hotel, yes it is old but still elegant. took our children and this hotel was an excellent choice. location is absolutely fantastic. stayed in a signature suite and it was worth every penny! plenty of room and very comfortable, our children definitly experienced a "wow" vacation here.

"Difference of opinion about hotel!"
We stayed for one night at the Waldorf Astoria - I thought it was very quaint & was pleased with the room but my husband was not very impressed & thought it needed some updating. I would stay there again but hubbie said he would not!

"Lives up to the Legend"
This is one of most elegant hotels in the world and our accommodations lived up to the legend. JFK, LBJ, Reagan, Queen Elizabeth, they all stayed here and it's amazing we can still see why. There's a story in the lobby, the clock, the rooms, and the Bull & Bear where the food was excellent. And everyone on the staff was helpful up and down the line. I've found that whatever way you treat people is how you will be treated so we all had a great time. One of the best stays of our lives.

"Great location, but needs a shining"
The room was very run down. The light switch had handwritten in ball point ink what was On and what was OFF. The desk outlets fell out of the desk when you pushed on them and the closet fluorescent light wouldn't shut out even when the door closed. Just old and in giant need of renovation.

Ornate, historic hotel. Front desk was friendly and helpful. Placed in corner room on 16th floor. Beautiful and functional. Downsides include rude help in sundries store, on and off wi fi, and limited access to restaurants-unless you enjoy formal dress codes. Grand lobby. Good location. Would stay again.

Room was surprisingly big and despite being on a low floor was also quiet at night. A very enjoyable stay. fyi -- Food and beverage in the bar areas is pricey.

"Waiting for my bags."
It took me an hour to get my bags sent to the room! It was 11:00pm on a Sunday. I called the desk twice and a manager over the course of 60 mins. When the bellhop brought me my bags, after saying "Good evening," he followed with "It is not my fault."

"Worst hotel room for money!"
We were given the worst room for our five night stay. I have stayed here two previous times. There was not enough room to put our suitcases on floor to open up. It was the smallest room. It was right by elevator. We ordered room service and the tray could not fit around the doorway into the room. We had to leave in doorway. Apparently bc we booked through an online site we got the worst room. I have always enjoyed the Waldorf Astoria. I will NEVER stay there again! The bathroom was old with a pedestal sink and old bathtub. It hasn't been updated and ceiling cracking. Not worth the money!

"A hotel with history - perfect for a nice holiday."
We where greeted by a very nice and serviceminded receptionist (who only moved to New York less than a month ago. I think she had two names and one of them might have been Louise. Unfortunately I forgot her name because she really deserved 5 out of 5 stars for nice and good service) The entrance from Park Avenue and the reception looks marvelous. The room we got was wery nice and it had a huge walk in closed that was perfect since we had quite a few suitcases. The hotel was nice and clean, and of course full of of history. We would certainly go back and stay at Waldorf=Astoria again and this was a nice end to a lovely USA holliday.

"luxury you would expect"
The Waldorf Astoria was exactly what you would expect in a luxury hotel. It was gorgeous. Staff members were very attentive providing fantastic service. The bellman who brought our luggage was very helpful providing us with information about the area. He was very careful with our belongings and ensured we had everything we needed prior to leaving. Beds we're very comfortable. The only slight issue we had was that the air conditioning just wasn't able to cool the room as well as we would have liked. Other than that our stay was wonderful.

"A Night at the Waldorf"
It seems the new Chinese ownership of this hotel is providing much needed funding for modernization. Overall the room was fine considering it was affordable at a summer, weekend rate but there were slight plumbing issues and I waited in a long line to check out only to find I didn't need to because they already debited my card. Overall, it impressed the heck out of my client whom I entertained there in the cafeteria. Definitely a special experience and useful to be close to Grand Central Station.

"Great hotel, the BEST location, but... picked the wrong weekend."
Great Hotel, picked the wrong weekend... Definitely a very good hotel overall, there could´t be a better location, but... Last weekend there was a congress called "A NEW BEGINNING" crowded, check in line: 25 minutes, very loud people, sunday at their checkout a scandal, we could´t sleep well. Everything turned ver nice, clean, comfortable an QUIET for our last 3 nights. The standard room we picked was very small, no contacts near the bed.
