We were quite disappointed with our room. Carpet was old and warn and giving away at the bathroom entrance, wall paper was starting to peel. Windows were so filthy on the outside you could barely see out. The bathroom was less than desirable. I feel like they need do to major remodelling of their rooms. Unless they gave us a poor room because we booked through Hotels.com. Their room service was less than desirable for the money spent and they were very unaccomodating.

I have never been so disappointed with a hotels reaction to a problem. My total stay was around $700 yet they put pending charges on 2 different cards totally over $2000 without informing me! When I approached the front desk I was given the run around. I asked for a manager & was told she would call my room. This rude woman informed me this was protocol. Really?? If tying up over $2000 of funds days after checkout is protocol, something is wrong with the way you do business. I WILL NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN. Plus the shower didn't drain & the air wasn't properly working in the room. Awful.

My friend and I took our daughters to the city for their 13th bday and stayed at the Waldorf. Although the grand old hotel has a little wear and tare, it's such quintessential old glamour experience. They felt very fancy indeed, at a price that we could never get at the Plaza. It was perfect for an experience with young teenage girls.

We were expecting a quiet stay in the hotel. What we got was an all-night parade of honking cabs, sirens, and anything else that can keep you up all night! The lobby of the hotel seemed incredibly crowded as well.

I have to admit as much as I was excited about the thought of staying there I was a little disappointed with the room it was basic and you could of had better staying a cheap bed and breakfast don't get me wrong the hotel inside was outstanding but I spent two nights and paid $550 I was expecting a little more for my money

We were very disappointed in the Waldorf, it is no longer a grand dame, it is a tired old lady. The room showed wear and tear, the shower curtain smelled musty, and overall the furnishings are dated. Both at check in and when we returned to get our keys later in the day, we waited 20 minutes in a line to be attended to. The worst part was that there was a wedding in the lobby on the Saturday night and they closed the lobby to all the hotel guests - we had to go down to the garage level and take an elevator to our room. Obviously the revenue from the wedding was more important than all of the hotel guests. The only plus is that the staff were very helpful.

We planned our visit for a family birthday and this palace didn't disappoint. Best features: the dazzling lobby, and the spacious rooms. Comfortable, old-fashioned, but also clean and well maintained. Professional and friendly front desk and concierge. Also the florist came through with a beautiful bouquet at last minute. Only problem was AC not working well.

The room we were given initially was not the room we reserved. We didn't notice immediately that the bed was a queen, not a king. At first they acted like they couldn't do anything about it but finally they did move us. Also, the maid for our room never left enough towels and we did not have nightly turn-down service as advertised. I thought the charge for the roll-away bed was excessive.

I usually stay with Waldorf everytime I visit NYC and I stay The luxury room. It keeps getting worst. Room carpet has stains. Every thing inside the room seems uncleaned and outdated . If you call room service , they are extremely rude. Customer service is vey important to me and this hotel has failed In Customer service. Only thing good about this hotel is the lobby. I will not be staying at this hotel anymore

"Once in a Lifetime Experience... But Just Once"

I jumped at the opportunity to treat my family to a weekend in NYC at a posh hotel at a great price. The hotel itself did not disappoint- the building is magnificent, the lobby reeks of elegance, and the rooms, though fairly small, were beautiful and comfortable. But- I think of people staying at the Waldorf-Astoria, and I think of people being pampered. That was not the case. The service wasn't subpar, but I expected much more given the typical rates. Did they relax their service standards because this weekend's rates were so low? You pay $65 for valet parking at the Waldorf, you expect people to help you unload luggage (and load when leaving instead of watching my 70 year old dad lift up and load a large suitcase), or hold the hotel doors open for you as you enter/exit with luggage (seriously- every hotel with valet parking that I've stayed at have bellmen who hold the doors open for you). The lines for check-in and check-out were long and slow-moving. The concierges were helpful but seemed disinterested. Sunday brunch was amazing, but the check-in process was disorganized (despite seeing me in clear view, they did not realize that someone had not taken us to our table), and the waiter service was not as attentive as you'd expect. Overall, I'm glad we stayed there. It's also hard to beat the area. But I left thinking, "I can't believe anyone would pay $600/night to stay here." As it was, I wonder if even my $300/night rate was overpaying for the experience.

"They allow barking dogs at the Waldorf Astoria"

The hotel was ok, but they allow dogs. There was a dog in a room near mine, and the owner must have been leaving the dog alone in the room, as for long periods of time, the dog was barking. I reported it twice, and both times security came by, admited they could hear the dog, but couldn't figure out what room it was coming from. I don't know why they couldn't look at the records and figure out which room it was. It is not fun listening to a dog bark when in a high priced New York hotel!

Obviously a great and famous hotel but charges $20/night for Wi-Fi in your room. But get this: Wi-Fi in the lobby is FREE. I spent a lot of time working from the lobby each night I was there. Of course the lobby is a beautiful place from which to work.

I spent the Memorial Day weekend in New York and had the great pleasure of staying at the Waldorf Astoria, living in a legend for just a short time was a treat. The minute you enter the art deco does ancient Greece lobby off Park Avenue the serenity of perfect proportions seeps in and you can't help but start to relax. Quick check in and pleasant front desk staff. A very quick set of elevators despite appearing original to the building whisk you up to a spacious and comfortable room. Nice bath products from Ferregamo, cozy terry robes, an abundance of good pillows are the cues you are in a luxury property, the rooms are traditional and comfortable but not over the top. The neighborhood is central to everything midtown and works as a perfect base, on weekends its rather quiet in this neighborhood as it is surrounded by office buildings. Id give the property the full star treatment if it was not 2015 and they are charging for in room Wifi ( very very old fashioned)

Room was very outdated (from the 90's) with old dirty and ripped wallpaper, in desperate need of a paint job and new furniture. Shower handle fell off in my hand the first time we used it. Very much in disrepair. Would not stay here again at any price! Very disappointing!

Great historic hotel in a wonderful neighborhood - main reason for picking this hotel even though we traveled with young children. The rooms could use a makeover and the biggest dissatisfier were the parking fees. The rate we ended up paying at checkout was 50% higher ($75 per day instead of $50) than what we were notified at the time we booked at the hotel. This increase is quite significant for a multiple- day stay! Parking attendant and hotel staff were rude when we inquired about this change in price since we never received any notification from either the Waldorf or hotels.com regarding the possible change in parking fees.

Yes, the lobby is beautiful and Peacock Alley is a terrific place to have a drink and people watch. Yes, the history of the hotel is intriguing, and display cases around the lobby include fascinating photos, menus, etc. However, our room was a disappointment in every way possible. This trip to NYC was in honor of a friend's 65th. I requested a room with two beds and a view. We arrived to leave our bags at about Noon, and were told I'd get a call when the room was ready. So far no problems. We got back to the hotel at 4:30, well after check-in time, and were told our room was not ready, and they'd give us a free upgrade to a king suite with just one bed, but they'd deliver a rollaway. As old friends, we thought we could share the king. The room they gave us was large, but it was SO sad, and I have photos to prove it. The furniture was chipped, wallpaper was coming down, there was clear evidence of a ceiling leak, and when we pulled back the curtain to see the non-existent view (it was an interior room), we could see it was covered with mold. The "kitchenette" included a fridge and small sink, but no tea or coffee maker. Nothing about the room said "the Waldorf." Two different managers gave us free drink tickets as compensation for the inconvenience. Are rooms like this that are so desperate for an update saved for hotels.com folks, I sure hope not!

This was my 2nd time staying at the Waldorf in NYC, and once again it was perfect. When my wife and I arrived early in the morning (around 10am), she was in the midst of suffering through a terrible allergy attack. The gentleman that checked us in did not hesitate for a at all to find us a room readily available at that immediate moment. He unexpectedly upgraded us to a larger room at no additional charge. We couldn't be more appreciative. The rest of the time at the hotel was just as great. Immaculate service with an A+ staff. We look forward to staying here again on our next trip to NYC.

We wanted a little time away from home which is 80 miles North of NYC and also wanted to visit our favorite restaurants and other beloved NYC haunts and so had an overnight stay at the Waldorf which never really disappoints... But upon leaving we forgot the charger for my husband's cell phone. We have called and called---we have been transferred from one department to another to no avail---we don't get any answers just promises. We called at 2:48pm the same afternoon after we checked out---check in is at 3pm plenty of time to get to the room and check it out!!!!! This was Saturday 5/23 and it is now Monday and I am still waiting for an answer!!!!! Other than that the hotel is a treasure!

We were looking forward to our stay at the Waldorf but were disappointment on several fronts. The hotel itself seemed a bit run down. The service was barely friendly, and not all that helpful. And a lot of the hotel amenities were unavailable. For example, when we arrived, after traveling all day, it was around 10:30pm. My husband and I were both very much looking forward to getting to our room and ordering room service, as we had been traveling all evening and had not yet had a chance to eat dinner. When we got to our room, we opened the room service menu only to see a note that the Waldorf was no longer offering all night dining and that room service was now till 11pm. It was 10:55pm. Luckily they took our order, though the attendant was clearly annoyed to be getting an order just before "closing time." The next morning I stopped at the concierge to make an appointment at the hair salon for later that day. I was told that the salon had closed. I asked where the starbucks in the hotel was, as I remembered there being one. I was told that had closed as well. It felt like the Waldorf Astoria was going out of business one part at a time. Later that night, after returning to the hotel from a gala, friends and I went to the bar. Upon arrival we were told it was "last call" as it was nearing 11pm. What has happened to this hotel? We thought that being able to book a room at this fine hotel for around $300/night was a deal. Instead we felt overcharged and undeserved.

We were excited to stay at the Waldorf Astoria, well, just to say that we did. The name carries weight. The entryway and lobby are pretty fantastic. And just it's presence on a pretty amazing little piece of Park Avenue. That's kind of where the wow factor ends. The room was very dated. The floor kind of slanted. The AC didn't really work, but thankfully it was a cool May night and we opened the windows. The bedding was nice, but the overall bed comfort was so so. And that's about it. Room service and mini bar outrageously priced as expected. $100 a person for the Sunday brunch, which I'll admit did smell wonderful when exiting the elevator in the morning to check out. Reception service was average at best. The immediate neighborhood has little going on, but walking to Lexington Avenue shopping and the 2nd avenue bars and nightlife was convenient enough. We used our welcome rewards night on top of catching a great deal for $189 a night on a last minute Saturday in May. So that made it worth it. Otherwise I would never pay $400-600 plus a night to stay here. There's way better options in more happening neighborhoods with significantly more room amenities for the same price or less.

Dont know where to startsua. the first impression is the one that sticks and well it was awful. Pulled vehicle in to Valet, 4 Valets standing just starring at the vehicle. My wife and i get out the vehicle, no one greats us or offered help. We have a 3 months old in the back of the vehicle, we take our own luggage out and our daughter, still no help from anyone. Then stand by the car waiting for someone to great us or acknowledge us. NO ONE!!!! Finally a valet named Louis approaches us and ask us if we want to valet. REALLY!!???? No Good evening, no welcolme, nothing. He then asked me if we were checking in. Once i responded yes His response was and i quote, "YOU ONLY HAVE 20 MINS TO CHECK IN OR ELSE I WILL CHARGE YOU" I don't have enough words to describe how furious i was. This is mother's day weekend, and i thought taking my wife to the waldorf astori would be a good thing. Anyhow i told him i was ok with it i didnt care. Still no help with luggage from anyone. Go in and check in. 20 mins later we are coming back downstairs. Go to the valet kiosk on the lobby, gentleman doesnt great me, as a matter of fact he didnt say a word to me. He just took my ticket and scanned it, while he was doing that i told my wife to go to the car which was right outside the door to start putting our daughter in the vehicle. No one opens the door for her one, two as she goes outside LOUIS tells her she cant because i need to pay first. OH MY GOD, your service is absolutely horrible
