Just wanted a night away and I was not disappointed. They have the absolute easiest and quickest check-in process. The staff is top notch and would probably give you a bath if you wanted them too. The room was very nice and spacious and the dressing room was a great added bonus. I would definitely stay again!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Every thing we we're hoping for"
It was our first time to New York City and the hotel was amazing. Our plane was late coming from the west coast so we we're a little late checking in. The room we had reserved had been sold out so they we're very genrious and upgraded us to a suite and it was great. I will not hesitate to stay at the Waldorf next time we go to New YorkGenuine Hotels.com guest review

the architecture and history make the Waldorf much more than a hotel stay, plus the room service food and delivery were top-shelf, give yourself extra time when retrieving valet parked car.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Disappointing service, in particular, the bull & bear.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent. Service, room and staff outstanding and every need was met. We stay in many hotels in NY for business and Waldorf upholds the tradition of treating guests with all the special amenities and quality service. The hotel is very well situated un beautiful Park Avenue. It brings you back to old NY luxury. The rooms are pretty standard but spacious compared to other hotels in NY. The only downside si that the internet is expensive as well as the room service.Genuine Expedia guest review

"They went above and beyond!"
We ended up at the Waldorf because we checked out of the worst hotel ever (Park Central Hotel) and needed to go somewhere we trusted to turn our trip around. When we checked in, we told the front desk about our terrible stay at the other hotel and how we hoped the Waldorf would melt away those stresses. He immediately upgraded our room and gave us vouchers […] for cocktails to relax. Our room and the service were great. My only complaint is that it takes 30-45 mins to get your car from the valet. "Great Hotel and Service"
We had a fantastic stay. Our first night was a bit chaotic because our heat wasn't working and it was taking a while for maintenance to get there. However, the front desk was extremely helpful in finding us a new room and comping us with free breakfast and drinks at the bar. The room was beautiful and clean. We would definitely go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Fun to stay in a historic hotel"
The Waldorf-Astoria is a beautiful landmark hotel and we enjoyed exploring all its nooks and crannys. The room was fine--clean and comfortable, although not very big. We had gotten a special deal on the room rate and I felt we got our money's worth. Had I paid the typical night rate, I would have been disappointed. The hotel is old and in need of a […] good renovation. Staff was great. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I have stayed here three times in the past two months. Both times booked double beds and was told not available on check in. Accepted a roll in bed first time, but declined the second time and waited 45 minutes to check in. Ugh! I have stayed here for years, but not again!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Worth doing once"
The Waldorf is definitely rich with tradition and it was worth staying there once to experience the history. However, the hotel feels like it is way overdue for a major renovation. The smell of ingrained mold permeates the entire building. The rooms are good sized for the location but everything feels old and not in a good way like an aged wine, but […] old like old like a used up pair of shoes. I was surprised to learn that the Hilton group owns this property given that they have the resources to renovate but apparently choose not to. The staff is very friendly but that does not overcome the other deficiencies of the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"an elegant place to stay"
Went to NYC with friends to see a show and enjoy the city. the Waldorf is an elegant old hotel, but the service was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are large for a city property as well, which made it very comfortable as well. Our only complaint was that the heat was way too high when we arrived (the room was perfectly comfortable without the heat […] on at all despite the bone-chilling outside temperature, and there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom. But we all enjoyed our stay very much. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Still solid, but just barely; not aging gracefully"
The bathroom had peeling wallpaper and other small signs of disrepair. The front-desk check-in is, it seems inevitably, a very long wait. Any other services, such as an inquiry with Lost and Found, also took a long time. Overall, everything was below the level of our prior experiences in this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what we expected"
We thought that paying the extra money to stay at a fancy hotel would mean more comfort, better amenities and overall, BETTER. Boy were we wrong. The hotel is fancy when you walk in, but once we found our way through the maze to our room, it was a little bigger than a normal NYC hotel room, but the only fancy thing were to the 2 robes we had to use. […] One hour into our stay, the water started to make weird noises and sputtering sounds. We were told that they had to shut the water down and that if we wanted to shower, we could use the spa on the 15th floor... mind you, it was 15degrees out. When the water finally came back on, it was brown and gritty. We will not stay at the Waldorf again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Past its glory."
The staff is friendly and helpful but checking in is not as easy as it should be. The lobby is packed with people and there is a line (always) to check in. Once checked in, it got much better. However, the Peacock Room does not seem very efficient, and we did not go there. The Breakfast was delicious and service was excellent. It was difficult to get […] a cab because of the weather and because we were going downtown instead of uptown. Also, the timing may also have been a blame too. The service at the hotel was horrible, we had requested assistance with our luggage at 4am, after calling in advance, requested a time for pick, which seem to be fine received an unexpected knock on r door, m15 mins earlier to find that it was bell service to pick up luggage explained that he was early, bell hop, explained that they had a huge influx […] of guest and this is the only time he can help me, call for guest service to have them explain that they had no one to help me with my 5 pieces of luggage...pathetic and to complicate things the room was a disgrace, ceiling fallin apart, the bathroom door broken, even heard others at receptionist requesting upgrades and disgussing the conditions of their rooms also....absolutely a disgrace...do not recommend to any or have them down grade their rating to 3, which is where I think they comfortably belong on the scale.....sooo sorry... "Good Location, Bad Everything Else!"
The hotel has a good location. The room was cold with the heating not working. Despite complaining, the issue was not resolved, with bad customer service generally. In all dealings with hotel staff, the overall feedback is disappointment as a result of long wait times, unprofessional staff and poor infrastructure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good location, raggedly maintained hotel."
Stayed at the Waldorf because it was a once in a lifetime trip for my mother. While check-in was supposed to be at 3, we couldn't get into our room until 4:30. Then, though we'd requested a rollaway bed, and it was acknowledged by the front desk, it wasn't put into the system and when we got back to go to bed, we didn't have one. So, it was after 1 […] am before we got the bed. The refrigerator didn't work, some of the lamps didn't work, the TV menu never worked, After we complained we got a small refrigerator in the entry and the lamps were fixed. The hotel gave us breakfast coupons and drink coupons and tried to fix what they could but overall, they were overwhelmed. I think if you're the Waldorf and you charge the prices they charge, you should be able to manage a full hotel. When we used our breakfast coupons, everyone in the restaurant had them--they apparently were giving them away by the hundreds. I would have preferred to pay for our dinks and breakfasts and have everything be as classy as I was expecting. Ultimately the word I'd use is raggedy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Classy, Historical Place To stay in NYC"
Check-in was quick & efficient- because there was not a room left with a view, we received tickets for drinks for four at Peacock Alley & Bull & The Bear. Hotel accomodations clean, toiletries Salvatore Ferragamo. The lobby one of the finest in upper scale NY hotels, complete with the 1893 Clock Tower and Cole Porter's piano. Location is convenient […] to all midtown tourist sites, but remember Lexington Ave line is the closest subway. This hotel was very comparable to The Palace nearby and priced about the same. But the Palace does not have the romantic history of The Waldorf, so that makes the stay in this landmark hotel very special. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The hotel and staff were amazing. It was the holidays and they really made you feel welcome and in the holiday spirit. The food was amazing but make sure to get reservations for the holiday feast as it sold out quickly. I highly recommend the hotel for your stay in New York. We did the normal tours and museums that you would think of. Empire State […] building was good but go early as the line gets very long. The Christmas tree at Rockefeller center was great to see if you can take the crowds, once again go early to avoid the crowds if possible. The NBC studio tour on Christmas eve was great, they were not filming or shooting anything so all of the sets were able to be toured, this really made a difference for us, we even got to see the Saturday Night Live set! Ground zero is a must see but be prepared, there are NO restrooms for the entire site. The site is free to visit but they ask for a donation. The line is very long for the site, be patient. "Waldorf as wonderful as always! Never disappointed"
We stayed at the Waldorf the day after Christmas and it was exquisite! Piano player playing Christmas carols, beautiful decorations - it was so gorgeous! The worst I have experienced-despite my reservation, checked in at 1:45 pm-got into my room at 4:30 pm (sat in lobby till ready). Had to fly to Florida the next morning at 6:30 am-woke up to a note under the door there would be no hot water until after 5:30 am. "How long does it take to be INfamous?"
Okay, name recognition and location keep the hotel full, and, amazingly, almost universally unpleasant guest experiences haven't changed it! We were prepared to grant the grand old Waldorf Astoria a lot of forgiveness in return for the "character" such a landmark should have. A certain patina on the furnishings and fixtures is completely acceptable. […] That someone else's razor cover lasted our entire 5 night stay in the shower is arguably not. Nor is the saggy old mattress - which the sweltering temperature of the room gave us many sleepless hours to contemplate. If I was in the business of cheating silly tourists, I WOULD be sure nobody could find a minibar price list (in a really, really hot room), then charge $8 for a single serving bottle of water which, being not even a name brand but simply hotel labeled gave every impression of being free. The Reception staff could just say "why didn't you call us and ask?" when someone mentioned that $100 for water seemed a bit of a rip-off at check-out. Assuming the Waldorf Astoria is not in the cheating tourists business, I guess the experience we had, which was strangely identical to that described in the paragraph above, was just the staff mocking us. By all means, walk through the lobby and look around. Bull & Bear serves very good steaks and does a nice job with cocktails. Just don't stay there, and DON'T DRINK THE WATER. "Dissapointed by the Service"
Great historic hotel in a great location. Except for the doormen, definitely not above a 3 star hotel. The hotel was very crowded for the Holiday weekend and they just couldn't handle it. Everything was just a hassle from waiting 15 minutes to check in to the maids coming in without knocking to having to ask repeatedly for new keys. We booked an upgraded […] room and were given a smaller room the first night because they were over booked. They did move us the next night, but lost us in the process .
