"Nothing new about the New Otani"
While the lobby and restaurant were very pleasant spaces, our room felt like it was stuck in the 1980's in terms of decor. Everything in the room felt tired. Also there was no coffee or hot pot or information on room service in our room. We had to go out to get a cup of coffee, which isn't how we like to start our day. "Beautiful Hotel Restaurant and Perfect Location"
The hotel was in a perfect position. Minutes from downtown Waikiki and yet comfortably remote. The hotel restaurant opened up right to the beach making for a perfect place for a romantic dinner.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quiet in Waikiki"
The service was good and friendly. The location is a bit of a walk from the main strip of Waikiki which kept it quieter. Can't beat the location right on the beach.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice beach hotel"
Hotel was nice, if not a little outdated. The staff was very friendly. The restaurants had excellent food and service. It's on the beach, therefore had no pool or spa. Was quiet and a bus ride or nice walk away from all the hustle and bustle of Waikiki.Genuine Expedia guest review
I love this hotel. Perfect location, right on the beach, quiet but close to Waikiki.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
book a moderate room..upgrade to ocean view ..costs $75 more per night. It was not even front ocean view..more like side view..the room is very small. not enough space for luggage and move around. "Great location in Honolulu"
This hotel is in a great location at the quiet end of the beach and park. 15 minutes walk along the park and you're in the heart of Waikiki. And Sans Souci beach is a gem -- protected but with good access for swimmers and paddle boarders alike. We stayed in the 'Diamond Head Wing' which is a bit older and doesn't have many of the updated fixtures you […] will find in the main hotel building. What the room did have is a small kitchen (microwave and refrigerator) which made our stay much more relaxed and independent. Windows looked out onto the beachfront park and the Waikiki waterfront in the distance. We have stayed here many times, and will look forward to visiting again. "the hotel was right on the beach nice and quiet."
loved the location. right on the beach. we didn't upgrade room but we were on the 9th floor and had a wounderful city view and diamond head. the room wasn't that small comfy for two. it had a bathtub nice for me it was nice and quiet. we didn't rent a car and figured we could ride the bus,we walked instead lovely walk. and I am 60 years young.the walk […] was about a mile and half to downtown. the aquarium was right next door and the zoo was in the park across the street .you could hear the animals at night . the beach was beautiful bigger than Waikiki. great beach to swim in and for little ones. no waves because of the reef. down side rooms a bit run down. their was tape on drapes for holes. and carpet shabby. air only worked some times opened windows at nite for breeze. staff was nice and helpful Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Waikiki, but not too close!"
We chose this hotel because it is close to the beach we like, San Souci. Our room was small but comfortable, with a large lanai. We did not have an ocean view but could see the ocean if we leaned out. It is super quiet there, a lot of the Waikiki hotels are so noisy with the activity on the streets below. This hotel is not new, has not been updated […] on a while. You could mostly see this in the bathroom, but it was all real nice, just not new. There are two restaurants. We ate at Ha'u Tree. It was pricey but delicious. If you want to eat breakfast there you have to make reservations at least a day in advance , but it's worth it! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent hotel with great beach."
Can't rave enough about the staff and hotel. Outstanding place to stay expcially if you want to be away a little bit from down town Wikiki. Easy walk to downtown but not right in the middle of things.Genuine Expedia guest review
The location is very desirable, but the amenities normally included in most modern hotels today were lacking. A coffee maker in the room would have been nice.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Perfect for our holiday"
My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and returned for our anniversary. It's not exactly in downtown Waikiki, but it's a short walk through the park. "Great hotel, on excellent beach!"
Had a great experience at this hotel! It sits right on Sans Soucy beach at the quiet end of Waikiki. The hotel is older, this was especially seen in the condition of the carpet in our room. The room lacked a microwave and a coffee pot. However in their defense you could request a coffee pot at the front desk.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel just a walk distance from Waikiki."
What can I say, this hotel is walking distance away from Waikiki you have your own beach and its at a great location.Genuine Expedia guest review
The New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel is a great find. You get all the beauty of Waikiki without all the noise and traffic. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and updated. I was in a partial ocean view room on the 5th floor and the view was fabulous. I will definitely return to this hotel someday in the future!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel on the beach"
Very nice hotel on the beach. It's a 10 min walk to Waikiki! The main hotel rooms are beautiful and the ocean view is breath taking! The balcony is big enough to sit out and catch the rays or watch the sunset. Our first room was in the older section (park view suites). "Great staff - cozy hotel"
Best thing about this hotel was the staff and the breakfast. Food was excellent and wait staff was great. "Great "Out-of-the-Way" Hotel Experience"
My wife and I took our honeymoon in Hawaii, and our first stop was Honolulu. We are the type of people that like to be close to the action, but not right in the thick of it. We also like smaller, boutique hotels and inns, and stay away from the mega-resorts. The New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel suited us perfectly. Every person we dealt with, from the […] front desk staff, to the valet, the bellmen, and the restaurant staff, were all incredibly friendly and helpful. We were never given anything but their full attention when we inquired about something. The hotel and our room were neat and clean. The room was fairly basic and a little cramped, but it suited our needs just fine. The best thing about this hotel is its location. It's is right on Sans Souci Beach, a more local beach and much less touristy and busy than Waikiki. It was great to walk right out the back and be on the sand. The hotel provided complimentary beach towels and mats. A 10-minute walk through the park and we were on Waikiki beach - no taxi required. We ate dinner once, and breakfast twice, in the Hau Tree Lanai, the hotel restaurant. All of the meals were fresh and delicious, and the portions were huge! Add to that, awesome views of Diamond Head, and the beaches, and we had an great experience! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean, simple, friendly place and who doesn't need all the luxury amenities that the high-priced resorts have. "Best location for Hawaiian vacation"
My brother and sister in law stayed there for 4 nights. They loved the view from their room so much. There was a lanai where they can watch sunset over glass of wine. Kaimana beach is right down there with palm trees dances with Hawaiian wind. It was heavenly experience for them. I considered this trip was their second honeymoon. And it was successful! […] Breakfast by the beach each morning excited them to start the day. Food was excellent! They would stay there again as they plan to comeback next year. It's way better than staying in the middle of Waikiki. Trust me, I've been living here for 15 years! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel is only a five minute walk to Waikiki's many shops and restaurants. Rooms are clean and has amble space to stretch out and relax. The restaurants, mini mart and bar at the hotel all close at 9:30PM - 10:00PM, so if you're looking to get a late night snack or drink don't plan on getting it there. Valet parking is $25/night, but the valet gave […] us a tip to park on the street after 6PM and move the car by 10AM to forgo valet and parking tickets. Complementary breakfast sounds puny, but it's actually quite huge. Save money; grab the muffin, fruit and coffee and spend the money saved elsewhere on a meal at a local restaurant. Overall, it's not the nicest or fanciest hotel, BUT let's get real, if you're in Hawaii and complaining about your room, you're spending too much time in it and you should be on the beach. I will stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Breat location but older hotel"
Enjoyed walking out to the beach with snorkel from the hotel. Saw some corals and colorful fish in the morning when tide was out. Not as plentiful a fish as Hanauma Bay but the beach was quiet and relaxing. There was fresh water shower on the beach nearby. Also enjoyed the inexpensive outdoor cafe less than 10 minute walk down the road toward Waikiki […] beach. On Friday evening, you can enjoy free concert at the cafe and fire works across the Waikiki beach. "The Feel of Old Waikiki"
This is an older hotel on the other side of Waikiki, close to Diamond Head. The Kaimana is also smaller and on the beach. You get the feel of old Hawaii at this hotel and I loved it. We chose the "moderate" room since we were born and raised here. As the website states, the moderate rooms are small but they have a lanai with a table and chairs. Oh, […] what a view! Out on our lanai, we had a great view of Diamond Head and even a small wedge of the ocean. We could hear the ocean and smelled the ocean's fragrance. The Hau Tree Terrace served great food right on the beach and had a large Hau Tree growing through the middle of this open-air restaurant. I truly felt at home at the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel. I will definitely stay there again and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be in "old Waikiki." Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I stayed here 3 nights in May 2013 for my 1st ever Hawaii trip. I had a regular room at first which was okay but was able to upgrade to a suite. The suite was very roomy and clean and had everything i needed and wanted. Staff service was excellent. The hotel is right in front of the beach so it is perfect for me and others who just want to jump into […] the water whenever they want. Although It is a little far away from all the actions such as shops, bars, clubs, restaurants, and nightlife in Waikiki. About 20-25mins walk which isn't too bad. Hotel itself has 3 restaurants and a bar in the building but they all close by 9pm. It could be ideal for people who prefer the quiet side of Waikiki. We stayed in the older section of the New Otani hotel overlooking the lawn of a beach front public park. The location is at the very east end of Waikiki away from the busy crowds. The locals use the beach mornings and evenings to swim, SUP, and canoe. Excellent beach for tourists to sunbathe, swim and snorkle. You need to make reservations if you want […] to eat at their beach front restaurant. There is a very good restaurant a short walk along the beach called the Barefoot Beach Cafe. Surprised. I will say this upfront: this review is based ENTIRELY on the annex section of the hotel. The location of the hotel is wonderful; off the main strip in Waikiki, beautiful beach, but if you and your ladyfriend/family/whatever think about staying here, make sure you get a room in the renovated/remodeled section of the hotel because the annex […] is horrible! My girlfriend and I thought all the rooms looked like ones on the website which is gorgeous. However, when we arrived were told our room was in the annex section, at first we did not receive a room w king size bed as reserved--my girlfriend was so upset! We only stayed one night since United so graciously forced us to miss a flight and then delayed our luggage. The annex section rooms are small, wallpaper was peeling, ac is blowing right on your head...get the picture? One desk agent even joked about the annex rooms being overpriced for what you could get in Waikiki proper. So, just beware of what room you're getting! Thankfully, an Expedia agent helped us secure a room at a nicer hotel for the remainder of our trip. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We really enjoyed staying at the New Otani, and as our stay progressed, we came to realize it's in the perfect location if you plan to stay on the west side.
