Most Holiday Inn Expresses I've stayed in have been new buildings. The only thing new about this hotel was the sign hung out front. I stayed two nights while in Atlanta on business. It was small, but I couldn't have expected a lot more of a relatively inexpensive city hotel. The bathroom was immaculately clean, well supplied, and seemed newer than the rest of the room. It flooded, however, both times I took a shower. (Not just the kind of excess that leaks around the shower curtain […] -- water was actually jetting out of the wall.) I reported the problem to the front desk the first morning and assumed the problem would be fixed that day. It occurred the next day too. The hotel had three elevators, only one of which functioned properly. The stairs could only be accessed by fire doors connected to alarms. I was nearly stuck one morning when I called the elevator and got one of the bad ones. The doors just kept opening and closing, and the elevator never actually moved. The fact that it was at my floor, however, prevented the working elevator from coming. I gave up and returned to my room. When I came back, the bad elevator was gone and I was fortunately able to get the working one. Complimentary breakfast was scheduled to begin at 6:30am. On my last day, I went just after 6:30 and found the room closed and several other guests waiting. I came back about an hour later and the room was still closed. A staff woman came by and said she could offer me cereal, but she didn't have a key to put out the rest of the supplies. A manager came by and didn't have a key either. I stayed at the Hotel while attending a conference at the near-by Georgia World Congress Center. This hotel is very close, less than 10 minutes away, from most locations one would want to visit in Atlanta. The CNN building is right across the road, the Aquarium and the Coca Coala plant are all within walking distance. The MARTA station is just a couple […] of minutes away and that can take you to most places in and around Atlanta. The staff was very good and pleasant. Especially Dan and Sheila (I hope I got the name right). The complimentary breakfast had a lot of variety and was tasty. Total value for money. It's in a decent locality. I walked around outside late in the evening and felt very safe. There is a Hard Rock Cafe on Peachtree Ave behind the hotel. :) I really loved the hotel and will highly recommend this place. This is an older hotel , but nicely renovated. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a parking garage across the street for convenience. I was working at a conference at the World Congress Center and this could have been walking distance. The rooms were small, but nicely appointed. The TV's even had full Directv. Not too hard to find. Right off the highway. I chose this hotel because it was within walking distance to the attractions I was going to Atlanta to see, and had a continental breakfast. The room was a little on the small side. Overall I was happy with my stay here.

My second trip to downtown Atlanta. I make my accommodations decisions based on the reviews......mainly the BAD ones. This hotel was better than the reviews gave it credit for. Front desk […] personnel were very friendly the lobby had a well-equipped "Business Center" The room was "slightly" small but big enough for two full size beds, a desk, dresser with flat screen TV, a decent sized refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom was small but clean........nice towels and PLENTY of hot water. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Only downside to the room was no safe. The wireless internet signal worked well (no issues). Breakfast: Very satisfied.......scrambled eggs, sausage/bacon, biscuits and gravy (biscuits were so-so), very good cinnamon rolls and juices. Other: coffee, cereal, not sure on bagels. Better breakfast than I had expected. Staff: Friendly..........even the maids offered a genuine "Good Morning" and a nice smile. My room was made-up real well upon my return. If you're REAL picky, go stay at the Marriott or Hyatt. But if you want good "Bang for your Buck", consider this place. The hotel was harder to find than I expected, the signage is not prominent and the parking garage is only marked on one side, again being a hard to see sign. Once we managed to park and collect ourselves, the staff was VERY nice at check-in and quite helpful in terms of when breakfast was served, etc. The room was TINY! and we were not expecting it […] to be so small. All of the amenities are included, but in closer quarters than the photos portray. It was incredibly clean and well kept, just small. I am only 5 ft. tall, and I would have been able to lay on both beds without stretching, everything is sort of squeezed in. They could do with taking out the tiny table because no one will sit and eat at it when there is plenty of room downstairs to sit and eat, if you wanted. The breakfast was good, nothing amazing, but nice to have the option. The location is also really great for heading to Coca-Cola or the Aquarium, you can walk to a lot of things and get a good feel for the downtown area. Read more

The neighborhood was pretty safe with much police activity around. The pictures of the hotel on the net make it look way better then it is. Hotel is old and the rooms are very very smal. The bathroom is so small that when you take a shower and exit you have about an inch before you walk into the toilet. The free "hot breakfast was a let down too. Great location, convenient to Georgia Dome, CNN and Georgia Aquarium. Space in a Standard room is at a premium as it looks like they took a single Queen room and put 2 Full beds in its place. The double Queen rooms are well worth the extra money for the extra space (and couch) you get. All rooms do come with microwaves and fridges, which is a plus. […] Breakfast is provided, but only until 9:30 am (10 am on weekends) so be sure to get down early as food goes fast. Overall, its a cheaper alternative to the other hotels in the area, but that's not to say its a cheap stay. You're paying more for location with this hotel and less for amenities. Read more

The room was too small. The service was not good. The location is more for business and not appropriate for walking. My experience was very poor and do not recommend this hotel at all. If you plan to visit Atlanta, I would recommend a Midtown or Buckhead.

We were in town for the Aerosmith concert and a Braves game. This hotel was very close to Phillips Arena, and we felt very safe walking to and from the concert late at night. When we checked-in the type of room we paid for was not available, so we received an upgrade to a king suite for no additional charge. The staff was very friendly and helpful. […] The hot breakfast was also a plus. The downtown location is great. We easily walked to the World of Coca-Cola, CNN, and Hardrock Cafe. My only complaint would be the parking. The parking garage was closed when we returned from the Braves game at 11:20 pm on a Friday night.
