I booked the hotel at quite a competitive price from Hotels.com during Thanksgiving break. Overall, I am satisfied with my staying there. However, I would love to point out that the parking fee is kind of too much compared with the staying fare. $52/day for parking is even three dollars more compared to The Peninsula Chicago.

Exactly what you would expect for a high-end hotel. Well-appointed, spacious room with very comfortable bed. I had a spectacular view of the river, but I think all three sides of the hotel have views of some part of the river, lake, or park. Well-maintained building and very efficient, helpful staff. Convenient to Millenium Park/Grant Park area, River North, and Michigan Avenue. Can not think of room for improvement.

Nice view. Near Navy Pier and Magnificent Mile. Staff cold. Unresponsive to requests for pillows in room. Never came. Bathroom missing all amenities (shampoo, soap, etc). 2nd request brought two shampoos, no conditioner, and a bar of soap. Clean rooms. Strange lobby/lounge layout, probably caused by the triangular shape of the building. Not overly friendly place.

Overall the hotel was not bad. Reserved a king bed ended up with two doubles, not good when you are there celebrating your anniversary. Mini bar items were expired. Parking is very expensive but if you park at Aqua two blocks down you pay about $20 less then hotel charges. Bed were very comfortable and view was amazing.

The staff at the hotel was very polite courteous and helpful. Our room had a river/lake view, which was nice both day & night. Our room was spacious! Although we didn't have our kids w/us, we quickly noticed the special attention to kid guests (starting w/ their own VIK check in). We picked this hotel based on location since we wanted to walk to Soldier Field for an event. Very easy to do. It was equally easy to walk down to the magnificant mile. We would definately stay here again with or with out our children.

So... to say that the Swissotel is a great place to stay is a true understatement. I am truly glad that I had the opportunity to be a stones throw from Millenium Park, Michigan avenue and the highlight of my stay, the kickoff the the Oprah show on the Magnificent Mile. Who would have thought!!!!! The rooms were spacious, clean and that bed. Well all I can say is I need to replace my mattress! If you want a great place on all levels... the "Swiss" is for you!

We loved this hotel. The rooms were quite nice and the location was great....on Wacker Drive but near Michigan Ave. Our daughter was married on a lovely boat on the Chicago River and this hotel offered us luxury and proximity to the boat dock. Parking is pricey...at $52 a night... but the valet service was good. We got an extra good deal for staying two nights. The hotel sign was difficult to spot as it was quite small in comparison to the next door Hyett Hotel's. A word of warning about the refrigerator: charges are done automatically when you lift an item from the shelf... we were charged $28 but this was removed from our bill without question when we asked about it/since we used nothing.

Overall it is a good hotel experience when you get a good deal on the rate. It's in a beautiful part of town, close to downtown. The only drawback of the location is that its sort of isolated that far up on upper wacker and close to the river and lake, which limits public transport options somewhat. There are a few buses, but you have to hike a ways to get to anything else. On the good side the location affords an amazing view...if you get an upper floor room, otherwise you just see other buildings and roofs, which is what happened on the last stay. Nice beds, nice bathroom, nice rooms. Cable TV was a little sparse and wireless was not free, which would have been a plus, but service was good and friendly. Rooms were clean and provided a restful stay. Overall a good stay for the money and the area.

Unbelievably, this hotel was one of the cheapest we could find in downtown Chicago. Located just 2 blocks east of Michigan on Wacker, this hotel is in the center of everything. We had a great panoramic view of the river and skyline and the room (beds, showers, everything) was well kept. Big plus was the separate stand-up shower stall. Mini-bar is super-sensitive, so don't go playing around in there unless you're planning on paying! The drinks are charged on a 'weight' system. Nice flatscreen with working cable in the room, internet was available, as were Audio/Visual hookups for the TV. A+ Experience, I will DEFINITELY be back.

I stayed at the Swissotel during a quick getaway to see the Cubs play and to visit an old dear friend. Considering the price I paid, didn't think anything about the hotel I'd only be staying in for the weekend. Upon arrival boy was I wrong. The Swissotel is one of the most luxurious hotels in chicago, I paid Motel price, had an awesome stay. I spent a lot of time napping because the beds were just so comfortable and the view of Lake Michigan in the morning is just glorious. Only note stay away from room service or eating at the Palm, do what I did take a walk down to the Navy Pier and get more food for cheaper price -- or walk further down and see the awesome neighborhood and sites.

The Swissotel is lovely, the employees very helpful, the rooms very clean and spaceous and is at a great location. I had a view of the navy pier and river and it was spectacular. I was on my own and felt very comfortable staying here - my only complaints were that in my opinion, the price of room service and drinks/snacks from the mini bar were very expensive (beyond my meager budget anyway!) and that I could hear noises throughout the night which I thought was the elevator shaft mechanics or the plumbing (my room being just behind the elevators and running a bath seemed to be hard on the plumbing!). But these were only minor complaints. The staff were very helpful and polite (especially the cleaning staff) and check in/out was simple. The location was excellent - a little off the beaten track (i.e. the loop), but the views and quiet made it worth it. Only a short walk to michigan avenue and the major bus routes and a great little cafe - the corner bakery, for early breakfast. I recommend this hotel, and will stop here again when I return to Chicago! Thanks Donna

Have stayed at this hotel before. Our room (920) was on the lake view side, but next to the elevator shaft. As it was a Saturday night and there were several wedding receptions going on the elevators were busy late into the night and again early in the morning with checkouts. The view was partly blocked by an adjacent building but adequate to see the fireworks. One could even walk down onto the street for a better view, however it was a bit chilly so we opted for the room. Great location near North Michigan shopping, quick cab to Navy Pier, River North Restaurants etc.

We stayed for 3 nights, and the location is very convenient - within easy walking distance to Michigan Avenue and Navy Pier. The negatives were that the shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor, there's a $15 charge to use the pool (ridiculous to charge hotel guests), and the daily parking rate is $52 (we parked at the parking garage next door which was only $30/day). The beds were very comfortable, but too short for my husband (who's 6'5"), and the staff was very nice.
