"Not bad for the price and location"
My first impression was a bit misleading. The appearence of the hotel lobby brought the "Well you get what you pay for," impression. The tile was inexpensive, the walls were bland, the carpet was generic(but very absorbent), and well the hotel was yellow. We arrived around 11PM so great service was not expected. I was wrong. The receptionists were very […] helpful and friendly, I mean who wouldn't want that after being Lebron'd in the car for hours. The room was cozy, cold, and relatively clean. Overall I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who is in need of a cheap and decent place to stay. 3.5/5 would get Shelbied again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was great, hotel staff was helpful as well as courteous. Will definitely stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Employees can't be blamed for everything..."
I would like to begin this review by stating that the employees at the Austin Highland Mall La Quinta cannot be blamed for the terrible hotel that they work at. My main problem with this more-or-less mediocre hotel is the price. I understand that taxes and additional fees are a part of the travel booking game, but my experience with this chain is exceptional […] to that rule. My flight into Austin was delayed in Denver for four hours, so I called the hotel and spoke to a friendly person at the front desk, informing them that I would be late (arriving in the a.m. due to airplane mechanical problems in Denver). The person on the phone assured me that this would not be a problem, and that my reservation would be held. Basically, don't worry about it. Sadly, I took this seriously. Upon arriving at the hotel at just around 3am, I was told at the front desk that at midnight they do a "room audit" of some sort, which meant that my reservation had been cancelled and then rebooked. Don't worry about it, your room is still booked, it's just a formality, I was told. Upon check out two days later, I was suprised to find that the price change from the arrival night was $250, rather than the booking price of $89. I asked at the front desk about this and was told, "Oh, that's about right. You checked in after the audit and the room could have been much more expensive. You were very lucky." I will never stay at a La Quinta again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Decent hotel in a sketchy part of town"
A decent basic motel, but really needs to be renovated and updated. Fraying and stained carpet, stained walls, and a tub that's been kicked and scratched. Located in a downward-heading neighborhood right off of I35 but not obviously accessible from other directions. If you're just looking for a place to spend the night and can get it for under $100, […] it's ok. But I'd look for a place to the west and north, seems like a much nicer area. This was not quite what I expected in the way of a hotel. It seemed to old to be asking this rate and was not in a very nice portion of town. I felt slightly cheated in the price and also felt very vulnerable being there by myself.Genuine Expedia guest review
Building looks older, but the room was clean and up to date. Staff was friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"U get what u pay for."
If you have a budget. You want a decent place to crash or whatever, this is the place. It won't blow you away & it won't disgust you. My opinion.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I enjoyed my stay there and will stay there again if ever back in AustinGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very run down hotel just off a busy freeway interchange. Everything shows wear and a patina of grime that is the consequence of years of too superficial cleaning. Beds were clean and comfortable, at least. But, this one gets crossed off my list for the next visit to Austin.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The front office lady that was there in the evening was great. So nice and helpful. The rooms were the most awful rooms I have ever stayed in. Dirty floors, the bathroom light switch was discusting. They should have paid me to stay there. I am not a women that needs frills obviously because I stayed there! We were supposed to have non smoking however […] there was ashtrays in the room and it smelled like a chain smoker lived in the room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"old but confortable"
This was very convenient for our needs, The building is old style but the room was very confortable and clean. A/C was subpar but adequate. Breatfast was minimual and service stopped to early since we checked in late. I would however stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"No hot water and DATED!"
We had no hot water and the desk clerk had the audacity to ask me if I knew how to turn it on, what an IDIOT she is! Would not recommend for a stray dog to stay at this location!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fair hotel during SXSW"
Getting a cab was very difficult, and what they called breakfast was kind of a joke.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Deceiving and not properly identified on websiteGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Smelled bad. Staff was rude the worse experience ever. Left early becuz nothing was done about itGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was updated and comfortable but due to SXSW in town it was VERY over priced for what it was. However the hotel I usually stay at was full and it was available. I would stay here again, but would hope no big events are going on when I do.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Well there was a mix up about having a microwave and fridge so wasn't real happy bout that, not having a elevator wasn't to cool either. But the room was okGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"overpriced old hotel"
The location is good for downtown & airport. The breakfast was plastic-wrapped muffins & waffles. The price was four times more than I would expect to pay for an old hotel, even though maintained.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Exactly what I expected, except staff were much more efficient and competent.Genuine Expedia guest review
Everything was great, except...I've been to other La quinta locations and I feel this one needs a major upgrade in appearance. There was hardly any breakfast selections, not much to choose from and the outside setting just felt uncomfortable. The workers on duty were great and helpful though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For how affordable it was u won't find anything better for under 90 bucksGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"No Texas shaped waffles!"
The breakfast was sucky but the bed was comfy. Beds seemed new and room itself was not too outdated. About a $30 cab ride round trip to 6th st area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect for our needs"
We were there for the Austin Marathon. Hotel was easy to get to and very comfortable. We had brought our dog with us and the room was large enough for the crate to fit in easily. Front desk staff very pleasant and accommodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Austin on Marathon Day"
Great hotel for the price. Clean, comfortable and convenient location to downtown area. Only negative was the breakfast. Used to be much better. Too many packaged, stale items offered. Need fresh muffins and waffles.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everyone was nice and very helpful. The room was OK. It can be made to look cleaner. Some painting and new carpeting. One of the days, I was there was the cleaning staff was there. She just took out the trash, clean towels, and sprayed some deodorant, but I had to tell them to vacuum and wipe the desk. Her mother also came to talk to her and kept her […] from her duties. "Reasonably good roadside motel"
The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom, however, would need some improvement: there was no working ventilation in it, and the toilet was prone to congestion. The breakfast is standard continental breakfast. The location is OK, not far from downtown (by car).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Liked the location"
The stay was ok, all though when we arrived at our room, we parked and right by our parking spot there was a used condom that our 6 year old grandson had to see, he probably didn't know what it was but we had to see it too. There was also dog caca and smelled very bad. We called the front desk so they could clean it up and they said they would but they […] didn't until the next day, when we were leaving. "convenient off interstate"
It was very convenient between downtown and lakeway area. I accidentally left my makeup bag when I checked out and housekeeping returned it with all contents to hotel management for my daughter to pick up for me. In this day and time honesty is hard to come by! Yes, I will stay there again when I visit Austin.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Do not recommend!"
This hotel does not meet the standard of other La Quinta hotels I've stayed in. The hotel is in much need of updating; the rooms are very small and smelled bad. The hotel staff was rude with the exception of one African American female desk clerk. She was the only one who attempted to be accommodating. I had a complaint about my billing and called back […] to speak to the Manager and he was rudest of all. I say stay away. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel nice staff very comfortable stayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We were here to take a customer to the Texas football game. Rooms everywhere were highly overpriced, supply and demand. Check in was good. The girl helping us was very quick and extremely helpful. The room looked like a run down motel 6 room. It was clean but you can tell it hasn't been taken care of over time. There are a few restaurants and sports […] bar within a short drive or cab ride. 6th street is about a $25 cab ride each way, so that wasn't bad. We didn't feel safe leaving our car parked in the parking lot. The breakfast was not what I expected. I've stayed at a Holiday Inn that had a free breakfast, not to say theirs are great but they are light years ahead of this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was very expensive for a basic hotel, when I returned back to the hotel late in the evening, the room had not been cleaned and I had no clean towels. This hotel is a little bit old and the rooms are a little bit small, but there's nothing wrong and with spending a night here. I wouldn't come stay here for vacation, but if you're passing through town or just need a room to get some sleep while on business, this is a fine place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"DO NOT STAY HERE!!!"
The room was filthy and the staff was rude. The hotel walls were paper thin and the bathroom was equal to a community park restroom. Gross, gross! My room key would only work for entering the room one time. Each time I had to go back to the desk the staff was put out and totally unprofessional. I will never stay at another one of these hotels.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed here because the hotel was close to where we needed to be in the morning for an event. The website showed nice pictures of the hotel but it was very trashy with a highway ramp built over it. We got no sleep because people were screaming, yelling and cursing all night long. 4 different people pulled up next to us asking for money when we were […] trying to unload our car. The hotel smelled. Do not stay here!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very noisy guests at all hours."
Old hotel with little to offer.Genuine Expedia guest review
Overall the stay wasn't bad...the price for the room was good. They offered breafast, nothing fancy but great if you are not expecting to eat meat. The hotel was perfectly located to my training site, and the best part was that they are next door to Amaya's taco village who have one of the best tasting chicken tacos on the planet. If I had any complaints […] or wishes the hotel management should highly consisder redoing the floors in the rooms and this is only speaking from the three that I've been in.
