"Cheap Price Cheap place"
The price was a steal and I can see why. My room appeared to be clean, but a noticeable musty mildew odor -- not pleasant. The TV signal was choppy, the bathtub was tiny. "Expected more, not disabled friendly"
Upon check in there was only 1 staff available at the desk. We waited about 20 minutes to check in. There was another staff person there but she stood around for a bit, not sure why she couldn't help us out. We were traveling with 2 different credit cards that day. One card had funds for the hotel fee and the other card for food, gas, etc. When the […] clerk finally runs our card to pay for our stay it says card declined. I immediately logged into my phone app to check the transaction. Sure enough it went through, so im not sure as to why on their end it said "card declined". After standing already 40 mins, the clerk only says "you have to call your bank". What? I was already getting irritated. Then they point to a sign right in front of me that explains the disclosure for the debit card process. It read something about "transactions are drafted right away and may take 7-14 business days to complete". Ok understood but didn't have anything to do with the situation for my transaction. Again making it seem like our fault. Then a manager goes on to say that when they run the card their system always runs it for 100 dollars extra or so and they have control over that. He then tried to explain to me that's the reason they have the debit card sign posted for all to see. Well this sign CLEARLY does not say that their system wants to hold extra money! The phone over there was not working, I did not get any charger slot for my phone, I had to put it in charger near handwash (possibility of water spilling on phone), Which was terrible. I found out that the Austin police department was very nice, something I should not have had a reason to have known. When I got into room, I uses the restroom then I went to wash my hands and noticed small pieces of hair all over sink and on counter. I used wash cloth and cleaned it. Arrived to find my paid for non-smoking room was not available, only smoking room available. My wife is allergic to cigarette smoke. Only solution was to be transferred to another La Quinta 40 miles away. I had reserved this hotel as it was close to the Austin Marathon start/finish & my wife could stay in the room until I finished. With the much longer […] drive that was not feasible. I was doing a 2 marathon weekend & with the extra time to drive to the other hotel lost rest time. As I was having my booking transferred at this hotel a pregnant lady found out she had also lost her non-smoking room and her only option was smoking. She had to go find another hotel. This is a stupid policy to allow someone to check into an already paid for room through hotels.com. I would hope in fairness policies can be set so this doesn't happen.
