"NOT famiy friendly"
Checked in with a 7 and 9 year old. Got into room early, only it was on 6th floor with view of brick building, not lake view as HOTELS.COM had promised. Registration demanded to see our confirmation email stating lake view in order to move us to 21st floor with lake "peek". We had 0900 flight out of Ohare so needed early checkout (0630) to grab El to airport. Ordered room service for kids' dinner and headed to bed by 1900. RUDELY awoken at 2318 by front desk stating given how we had paid for room, there was no way for them to charge our $50. room service charge. Asked "Lyndsay" if we could settle in the am, but damage was done, kids startled and awake until 2am. not ok for any patron, but with kids? Upon checking out, "Dwight" never once apologized when I told him our horror story from 7 hours prior, never batted an eye... he just wanted that CC to charge our dinner on so we could be on our way. Extremely rude staff and definitely NOT a place we will ever stay again.

"Love this historic hotel, but..."
Overall hotel was clean enough, comfortable enough, and all but one staff member went out of their way to be friendly. That said, first impressions do matter and when a desk clerk treats you rudely, it sticks with you. We were offered early morning check in for a $25.00 charge. We took this offer, but were quickly dismayed when we were put in a terrible room that was not what we had booked. We asked to move to the kind of room we booked, but none were ready for early check in. No problem really, until I asked for our $25.00 early check in fee to be returned. The desk clerk said she wouldn't because it was our fault for switching rooms. I informed her that it was their fault for putting us into a room we didn't book! I was not pleased, but remained polite. And yet she still hesitated. Finally after a long few moments, she acquiesed and returned the fee. First impression, not good. The next several days went well, we enjoyed the pool and found Herb N' Kitchen useful. The concierge desk was wonderfully helpful and the history Normandie lounge interesting. Location was great to the Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium.

"Very Dirty, Poor Housekeeping"
Housekeeping forgot to clean room one day and did a terrible job the other days. They left trash in trash cans and the room was dusty and has spider webs. Lots of homeless people around hotel including a group drinking beer on the floor in the corner of the lobby. Best thing about this hotel was that the elevators were very fast.

"Nice but Not worth the money"
Hotel and staff wonderful. Everything costs extra parking was 55$ internet had a fee., hotel taxes were 38$ as well as pet fee of 50$. Not even any free coffee. Nice but wont do that again. Not worth the money. As far as dog friendly maybe but if dog not accustumed to elevators and busy lobby then bad choice for your furry pals.

"Disappointed"
The rooms need updating. There is no safe in the room, valuables have to be brought to the front desk/safe deposit boxes each time you leave the room. Carpet felt sticky, there were hairs on the bed sheets, and a Rx pill sitting on the bathroom counter when we got there. Room prices were at a premium due to the holiday weekend, which added insult to injury. Staff was great, as was location, but the hotel needs some love to bring it up to acceptable condition. I also reserved a room at the hotel next door/across the street for my friend over same dates. Her room was clean, newly updated, they had 24 hour room service, and was about 2/3 price of mine.

"First class hotel and treatment"
One day business meeting and dinner and a great comfortable room overlooking the lake and Navy Pier. Perfect location to walk to shopping, restaurants, museums and everything Chicago has to offer. Hotel room wasn't ready until three so I had several hours to kill and of course lacking nothing on Michigan avenue and the lake.

great hotel but didn't appreciate hotel staff telling us to use the service elevator since we had dogs..... ignored the comment and used the regular elevator as it is not written anywhere pet and pet owners need to use the service elevator.

great trip. But one thing to be aware of... They put a hold on your credit card once you get there for a certain amount each day : I think $150/day! So bring a good sized credit line because although they don't charge your card, you will lose that credit line.

We needed to be in downtown Chicago on a Sunday, so decided to go in for the weekend, staying at this Hilton. Its a very large, very old hotel (although the rooms have been updated and the lobby is very luxurious.) The location across from Grant Park is perfect, with lots of things to do (park activities, museums, restaurants, bars, theater) in the neighborhood. The rooms were "adequate"....by that I mean sparse, with minimal attention to decor, but containing everything needed. Since our rate was slightly below $200 for the night, which is on the low end for Chicago, I'd say it was a good price/value.

"for $400+ this is not what Im expecting"
Gorgeos hotel in great shape. Little issues - tried calling housekeeping at 6pm - 100 rings no pick up(put the phone on speaker and returned some emails while waiting) - then tried customer service - another hundred. Was hoping to get turn down service and some fresh towels to no avail. Tried again at 11pm same story at both extensions. finally got a hold of room service and they brought me a club sandwich with a side of towels. NO robes in room for $400+ this is not what I'm expecting.

"Couldn't Be Happier"
The room was spectacular! I didn't think the price was bad at all for the roominess. We were at the end of the hall, facing the street, with a park right outside one of the many windows. The entire hotel was absolutely gorgeous!

"Disappointing"
I booked this trip for my fiancés birthday. I went with this hotel because on hotels.com it was at a good location, right by buckingham fountain, good price and most importantly to me MODERN and up to date. So we arrive at the hotel after our 4 hour drive. The first floors up to date. We get a new employee to check us in. So we get up to our room I believe the 9th floor. And its not up to date at all. They were renovating! Right below us and above you could hear them working on the rooms. I was going to stay at the congress just to get a cheap room but I thought the Hilton looked nicer and they had two nice bars which was a plus.... But the nice pub was closed... The beautiful ballroom was also closed... All in all employees were okay. I just mainly wish they didn't give me a tiny broken down room. Waking up to someone hammering is not fun.

"Great Location and Amazing View"
Staff was great. Room was perfect. We had a great view of Buckingham Fountain, Navy Pier, Lake Michigan, and a great firework show from Navy Pier the first night of our stay. Everything was wonderful for a girls getaway (an Aunt and her two nieces)!

"Girls trip went great!"
So convenient to Soldier field... will definitely stay there again for more events. The bar in the hotel was great, and super food! The location was good to walk around parks and Buckingham fountain... very pretty view of the lake.

"Hotel."
We went down to the Hotel bar before we headed out. I think we sat there for 15 minutes before I decided to go ask the bartender if we could order through him. He said he'd get the waiter for us. We ordered, ate, and then waited another 20 minutes for the waiter to come back to see if we needed anything else. We did want a couple of waters, but we now had to leave. The waiter was not very courteous at all. We also ordered breakfast to be delivered at 9am which was prompt. Although we ordered sausage with order and received bacon with both. A small issue, but and issue none the less. I would, however, stay here again because of how close it is to the lake front and soldier field.

"A happy business traveler's review"
Due to a cancelled flight on a business trip, I needed to find a place for the night. The Hilton was among the lowest rates for the area. The Hilton comes with a great brand reputation and I knew I would be in good hands. They were able to accommodate me last minute and I arrived within 25 minutes, via the metro from Midway Airport (only $3.00) at a rate of $229 for a single king. The location is great, with easy access to the loop & downtown Chicago. The hotel is stunning inside, with two cascading staircases leading to beautiful ballrooms on either side of you as you enter the lobby. There are a plethora of restaurants within the hotel. But there is also plenty within walking distance, including a Trader Joe's. My room was comfortable and clean with a traditional charm. I also enjoy that they provide Peter Thomas Roth bath products. My one critique would be that they do not offer free wifi. Instead they offer a touch screen computer in your room with a system for complimentary searching of things to do in Chicago (dining, shopping, transportation, etc). However, this touch screen system was very slow. I ended up giving up on the wait and used my phone to find somewhere for dinner. But it's a great concept. Just needs some speed updating. Overall, I had a fantastic stay at the Hilton and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the loop. I only wish I was able to stay and enjoy it longer.

Good experience. I didn't enjoy being charged 50 dollars a day for amenimities that I "may" use during my stay. I didn't budget for that. It was returned once I checked out, but took another 24hrs to go back in my bank.

"Great Location"
The hotel was a normal business hotel with all kinds of great amenities but my room was quite dated and had no mini-fridge. My only complaint really. If you wanted to, you wouldn't have to leave the hotel which is a real shame bc the location is perfectly situated to explore this amazing city - so get out there and explore!

"Great location!"
Walking distance to the parks and museums. My room was always clean. Comfortable bed. I didn't find any vending machines inside the hotel, so I had to walk a couple of blocks to 7-11 for some midnight snacks.

"Never will return"
I found feces in the toilet, the soap was missing, the tub wouldn't drain, I had to pay for the internet and parking. No continental breakfast. For the amount of money spent for the room I felt that the hotel could have at least had a free breakfast. Only good thing was the location to the museums.

"Great staff, clean rooms, great service"
Came here last month for a conference and had a great experience - our Event Manager was wonderful to work with, and the stay was enjoyable, so when I found out I was going back to the city on business again last week, it was an easy decision to return. The staff is always very nice and helpful, the hotel restaurants serve good food, and the atmosphere is great.

"Nice rooms"
Upon arrival they asked us if we wanted to upgrade to a remodeled room for $40/night, I said no but got a remodeled room anyway. Room was very nice and spacious. Beds were a little small for 2 people and they had plenty of space for queen beds. Internet was slow, otherwise it was very nice.

"Okay but slightly disappointed"
My overall stay was pretty good. I do believe that the check in staff should advise you up front to let you know that you will be or not on a renovated floor. The older rooms are just that, old and somewhat historic. That's great if that's what you like. I prefer updated and contemporary accommodations. I was slightly disappointed that there doesn't seem to be anything the staff does for Hilton Honors guests. I had to call housekeeping for face towels (which by the way should have already been in the room upon check in) and was told well, I can't get them to you but it will be a while. Because that wait was too long, I walked down the halls to find a housekeeper to request face towels. The response was slightly rude.

"Great location and helpful staff"
I had a conference in Chicago, and took my family along on an extended stay. I had a reservation made via my work, and the rate for the rest of the week was fantastic, so I booked a room on Hotels.com. When I got in, I checked in, and then worked with the rep to see if we would need to check out and then back in on the transition day, or extend in the room. The Hilton was very accommodating, made adjustments (in my favor) on the room types, and got us set up with a lakeside view. It's a great historic hotel, and the staff is friendly and competent.
