"Bare bones hotel"
We stopped for the night driving back from Whistler to Seattle. The front desk could not have been more aloof when checking in. Since we had a dog, we were assigned a room on the 3rd floor, and our room was next to the vending and ice machines. Our neighbors were super loud talking about drinking stories until after midnight. The elevators were small […] and slow. Since we had so luggage plus the dog, we couldn't take the stairs. We decided to hop on an elevator going up in order to go down. Otherwise, it would've always been full. The location was pretty good for the price, but I wouldn't choose to stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Sandman Hotel is in an excellent location in the Vancouver City Centre. The view from the hotel is very pleasant. The staff were excellent - friendly and helpful. The room was clean. On the downside, the windows were ill fitting and steamed up overnight as the outside temperature dropped. The bathroom was inconvenient, as the bath and toilet were […] separated from the sink area, which had no door. This means that after using the toilet, one has to open the door before washing ones hands. This is unhygienic and the lack of a door infringes on one's privacy if there is more than one occupant of the room. However, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend the hotel. "Great location for events downtown"
I chose this hotel because of its proximity to Rogers Arena. The staff was great but there are only two elevators that got very crowded after an eventGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great deal for downtown Vancouver"
Great location, passable room but the hotel doesn't compare to the Sandman over by YVR in Richmond.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"ok but with drawbacks"
The free WI FI signal is so unstable that runs soooo slow. Also how can the parking charge money??Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel is in a good location. Front desk could be separated into general hotel guest enquires and check in/out thereby allowing efficient check in/out and reduce queue timeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Closest hotel to BC PLace"
I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. The only annoying thing about the hotel was having to wait a long time for the elevator. We haven't experienced the Sandman chain until now, but we'll keep them in mind the next time we head to Canada.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Near Granville and Water"
Talk to Atif, he was very helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Really well located for persons without a car"
The location is ideal if you need to walk or take public transportation. I had a nice time at the hotel , the pool and hot tub are great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A hotel with access"
Sandman was our last stop of six weeks' of Canadian train and bus travel. Located within walking distance of both Pacific Central VIA station and the Granville Market, the hotel is within twenty minutes of an endless supply of restaurants. Our ninth floor room was very quiet, roomy and comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"One night stay in Vancouver"
This hotel is in a great location if you are going to be at Rogers Arena. The room was as we requested and quite clean. The staff was professional but friendly. The bed was a bit hard but that may just be me. Highly recommend!Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was very clean. It has a great location in the city near Gastown and lots of restaurants. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. It could be a little loud at times but that was because it was Halloween weekend and there were lots of people out late.Genuine Expedia guest review
"short trip to vancouver"
Hotel is in the perfect location which was our preference apart from that there is a lounge, pub and a restaurant just besides the hotel and lot of happening stuff going around which was quiet interesting such as Halloween, Halloween Flash Mob near Vanc. Public Library.. Staff is really nice and helpful. I would rather book my vacation with this hotel […] next time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Everything felt a bit small here"
The elevators, hallways, and showers were all really narrow, and the showerhead hung at a height best for a 5 ft tall person. The pool area was nice, but only one elevator goes to pool level, and the hallway leading to the pool itself was so narrow my MIL's walker barely fit. This was a convenient stop for the trolley tour we did, but there weren't […] many places around for family dining. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Had a great say. I payed for the room before I arrived so had no problem checking in nor checking out. The room was very nice and clean and seemed relatively up to date, in a modern sense. The room had everything we needed and we felt comfortable and at home while there. The staff were helpful and polite as well. Location is great since it's just a […] few blocks from Granville street and all the places to go out, but just far enough to keep away from the loudness. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good value for money"
I got a free upgrade and a great room: modern design, comfortable bed and enough space. The free wireless is great as well.Genuine Expedia guest review
One of the best sleeps that I got while sleeping in a hotel - very comfortable pillows and matters, the A/C unit not too loud. The room was clean and spacious. We had pretty nice views out of our windows.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hot water was not working for a time one evening. The air conditioner was noisy and blows directly at the bed which made it uncomfortable to sleep with it on. Bathroom is tiny and no counter space. Also no fan or window in the bathroom to let steam escape. Other than all that, it was okay, clean, and centrally located.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
All for the confirmation. I did like the overall vacation trip. Did get confused about direction to location, but survived to sign-in! Hadn't been to Vancouver in over thirty years; so I just made an effort to get to Hotel on time to sign-in. Walks were OK. "A walking man's hotel"
I was very pleased with the hotel and its location. It was within walking distance of restaurants, bars and entertainment. I had a top-floor room with large expanses of glass to view the city and the marina.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Stay was nice in general. Elevators were ver small and slow at times had to wait over 10 minutes to get the elevator. No hot water in the shower. Issue only resolved (room change) after repeated complaints / requestsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Hotel was in very bad condition. We had to move rooms because neither the AC or phone were working. Ended up in a room for one person with no closets in a different tower than our kids. The guy at the front desk was nice enough to not charge us for parking and gave us two 10.00 vouchers fro breakfast. I would not recommend this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Next to CBC and the Vancouver Stadium"
The hotel is very nice but is tricky to get your vehicle into as the parking entrance is kind of hidden. Having said that, the hotel itself is very nice. The room was large, the bed was very comfortable. The hotel supplies very nice amenities with the room. Soap, shampoo and conditioner. Instant hot water in the bathroom - no waiting for either the […] shower or the sink. There is a frige in the room and a flat screen TV. Pool on second floor and a gym are available for use. "Wireless worked well, location is swell"
Wireless connection was very robust for me on an upper floor. Water temperature for the shower at 6 AM is great at about 130 F, needing cold water to get it to a comfy temp, but at 9 AM, the hot water flows at only 75 F or so, making it survivable, but not pleasant. Basement parking was convenient, and quite reasonable. The Shark/Moxie restaurant is […] decent. Extra stars go to the close location to all the downtown top features within walking distance. "Pretty Good Value"
It was pretty nice and a good value. It was a modest walk (7 blocks) to my conference, at the Vancouver Fairmont...but I knew that in advance and it was a cost-benefit decision I was happy to make. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. The temperature was well controlled. No outside noise or light issues. The one funny thing was that […] my plumbing lines had hot and cold water switched (IMO)...but that was no big deal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location in Vancouver."
Overall, the experience was good except for the air conditioning unit in the room was very loud and cycled on & off frequently, which was annoying. Also, the bathroom didn't have an exhaust fan. The location was convenient, the room was clean & fresh, and the Grill has good food.Genuine Expedia guest review
loved the location - wish I could have stayed longerGenuine Expedia guest review
"Well located but service is poor"
The hotel staff is not enough to attend all the guests. So, there is always a big line in the lobby. The elevators are also insufficient to attend all guests so you need to plan in advance and calculate a waiting time to take it before you leave your room. Service at the front desk is poor. Anyway, the hotel is very well located, so it may be a good […] choice anyway and price is good. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
excellent location to sky train and city bus. Approximately a block to sky train. Room was a nice size. Comfortable beds. Nice to have coffee in room. It would have been helpful to have a washer and dryer available as their rates were high, to send out clothes. We stayed a week and enjoyed it very much!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location but inconvenient service"
The hotel lobby is very nice and inviting. Front desk staff were very helpful in offering an early check in. Disappointing that my room's view was of air conditioning units, room was between elevator and ice machine - noisy people and ice noise was a problem. Outlets for charging computers are not available on desk, either had to charge on nightstand […] or on the shelf above the refrig. No TV checkout or express check out available and what a pain that they did not answer the phones that morning of checkout. Disappointed to have to stand in line ( 5 min. since only one person at front desk) to checkout a room with no balance due. Waste of time for me! To add to the disappointment, there was a fire alarm, had to walk flights of stairs and a half hour delay to get to rooms. Lobby bar/restaurant disappointing too. Walked in, servers ignored me and several other people. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great place to stay!"
I was very pleased with the staff and service at the Sandman City Centre. Bar and restaurant as well as rental car agency available right on site! Underground parking is available for an extra fee of $20 per day....maybe they could lower that for hotel guests The other suggestion I will offer is for housekeeping to be aware of guests not yet checked […] out. This will avoid waking the guest earlier than the guest wants to wake (before 9 AM). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Disappointment at the Sandman"
The Staff us a mixed blessing. There are some staff members, one named Walter, for example, who were friendly and helpful. BUT Most were always busy! Always abrupt! Always in a hurry! Some didn't understand English. I support people who speak other languages, but I would expect everyone working in a Hotel to know English, if the Hotel is located in […] North America. Almost EVERY time I phoned down to the Desk, the phone rang for about 5 minutes before anyone answered. Sometimes thay NEVER amswered. Two days our room was cleaned very late, just before we were returning for our evening rest. The FINAL day it was NEVER even cleaned until I phoned and raised my voice demanding action. "not aging well"
This older hotel has not kept pace well. The two elevators are inadequate for the needs of the guests, repairs are poorly done and upgrades (wifi, ac/heat systems) are of poor performance. Calls to front desk took a long time to be answered, and even longer to be followed up on. Even opening the window was a risk when the frame started to come apart […] and the window almost fell out. Excellent value. Close to BC Place Stadium and Queen Elizabeth Theater. And further away from the tourist areas of the waterfront and shopping. But if you dont mind walking a little further it is an exceptional value for the money. Closer to Yorktown. And the area it is in, probably had harder times a few years ago. But as Vancouver continues to grow […] the area it is in is safe to walk to downtown and shopping. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Sandman Hotel Vancouver City Centre"
Rooms were clean, front desk very helpful. The hotel was along a busy road which was noisy until late evening. Housekeeping occasionally forgot to restock items. Internet access was very unreliable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"If you're spending the $, get your $ worth"

"Central location to vancouver city sights"
The hotel was good and comfortable, except for one important thing: The hot water from bathroom sink was less than lukewarm. It never got hot. The shower was hit/miss with hot or lukewarm water. Our 3rd floor room had a view of the hotel's 'rooftop' with the satellite dishes, etc. It was NOT a good view. I would not ask for this hotel again esp b/c […] of the hot water situation. Otherwise, this hotel would have been good, esp the location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Absolutely no wifi despite claims"
Do NOT choose this hotel if you must have an internet connection. The so-called wifi connection did not work for more than a minute or two at anytime during my 5-day stay and complaining did not help. The only help offered was to connect me to the support line of the external company meant to provide the service. Incredible. Then I was told the problem […] was with the Apple equipment I was using. "Mostly good with notable exceptions"
The room and restaurant and over all was very good. HOWEVER, when we arrived they indicated we would have to pay $15 for parking. Seems weird since the web site doesn't say anything about that but we didn't want to fight about it so we capitulated. When we checked out she said we owed $40 for parking! WHAT? Well, it is not $15 she says but $15 a day […] plus $5 a day in taxes and fees. That is ridiculous! We specifically look for hotels with pool and hot tub and tend to spend some time in those areas. The hot tub was down on Friday and most of the day Saturday. Finally up on Saturday afternoon. When we went back Saturday night the hot tub was cloudy and gross and there was not enough water in it to let it run through the filter. One of our co-guests said it had been down the week before as well. This needs checked on daily since there are obviously some issues. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Incompetent staff, drafty windows, weak AC, bad TV"
Horrible place!!! First the guy at the check-in desk was claiming I do not have a reservation with them. I had to dig in my luggage to get my laptop out and show him my expedia confirmation. Then after looking into his computer for a couple of minutes he was able to locate my information and check me in. The room I was given was spacious but the window […] frames were so rotten that I was afraid the window glass would fall on the street. Also there was a lot of bird poop on the windows. Probably never cleaned in the past couple of decades. There was a horrible draft and I was freezing cold in bed with three blankets. The AC unit was not doing anything when my room was directly exposed to 30F night temperatures given the drafty windows. After two nights I got a sore throat and asked to be moved to a different room. The new room had better windows, although still a bit deteriorated and certainly not sealing well. However, the TV in the second room had completely messed up settings and I could not use it for one night. It got fixed on the next day when I complained about it. Will definitely not stay here again!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
