"Sometimes "first impressions" are deceiving..."
When you walk in the lobby it is very inviting and nice giving a false impression of what is to come. Our room was no where near as inviting or nice as the lobby. The beds were lumpy and the mattresses caved towards the center. The bathroom door was busted and the wood splitting/peeling off at the botton. The lock on the bathroom door would stick making […] it difficult to get the door back open. The TV was on the fritz and the channels would not come in clear. The maintenance staff who came to our room was very nice and helped out with the tv but once he left it went out again. Had to wiggle the cords to get the channels to come in for a limited amount of time before they went out again. The staff was very pleasant in every instance we had with them. They are not at fault for the poor conditions of the room; however, I wonder how long it has been since the owners of this hotel have actually looked at all the guest rooms. Can't beat the location if you don't want to stay downtown. If you want to get a taste of downtown and then get away for a quiet night of sleep this is the place. It's only a 5 minute ride and they offer a shuttle service to take you there and back free of charge.Genuine Expedia guest review

The location of the facility is a little away from the nightlife and activities in Nashville and although it is close to the capital the neighborhoods in the vicinity seem a little rough. The public areas of the hotel appear well maintained and inviting. Meals we had in the restaurants were acceptable and reasonably priced. "Hotel needs repairs & customer service training"
The hotel has potential if they'll make improvements to decor and furnishings (my toilet ran constantly even after a maintenance person "fixed" it, the wood veneer on doors is peeling and stripped off, bureau drawers have broken cardboard bottom panels that fall out, bedding has some bizarre form of foam-like lining). Hotel staff failed to respond and […] resolve complains made about the noise level on my floor because of excessive drinking and partying by underage college students. No sleep at all that night (til 4am). Wouldn't move me to another floor or shut down the party. Still wanted to charge me full rate for the night. Big, clean lobby. Had a little bit of an issue with one of the rooms for our party, but the management eventually fixed it. Rooms were clean and well kept, and the beds were comfortable. "Clean and convenient"
They were having trouble with wi-fi and cable while we were there, but those issue are easily fixed. Desk staff was pleasant. The lobby remained quite cold over the 4 days we were there (in March). "Renovations cheap and shoddy"
The first thing we noticed as we entered the lobby was a bit of a mild sewage smell--glad that was not hotel wide. They have obviously tried to update the place, but the painters are not professionals. Lots of minor scuffs and dings in the walls and doors. They still have the same yellow tile in the showers that was there when the place was new and […] I suppose yellow was a preferred color--why would you go to the expense to update the room and leave the crusty tile in the shower? The shower fixtures looked dirty and the curtain rod was broken (the curtain would not stay closed so the floor and toilet got really wet. We asked about the fridge and microwave (available on request) and we were told that thee fridge would be an extra $10 a day and the microwave was in the restaurant. The surrounding area has several fast food places and a convenience store is just across Rosa Parks Ave--but there are some shady folks that hang out after dark. Really I loved this hotel about 20 years ago, it's a shame to see it patched rather than truly renovated. The best thing about the hotel is the free shuttle, which we did not need. Stayed here over the weekend for two nights, wanted to get something close to downtown that was reasonably priced. Prices downtown have sky-rocketed so this was a good option. Pros - free shuttle (not including tip), to and from downtown, and they are willing to drive other places as well (airport. etc), the beds were super comfortable and the rooms […] were pretty clean as well, and cost was good and parking was free. Cons - shuttle only ran until 10:30pm, taxi downtown was around $10-15 max, you waited for the shuttle drivers, not the other way around, and when I booked the room it said free continental breakfast, but when we ate we were charged $10/person for breakfast for the buffet which was annoying, there is pretty much NOTHING to do around the hotel so expect to utilize the shuttle frequently. "Hotel--good location and great staff"
This hotel was not one that I will go back to nor recommend to my friends. The hotel looks great from the outside, and the lobby area was nice. When you opened the door to your room, it was very disappointing. The light switch to the bathroom was on the outside wall, the bathroom did not have a fan in it and the shower curtain leaked on both sides badly.
