Days Inn Historic District - Charleston

The located is great - close enough to walk to all the sights downtown. We did a couple of walking tours in the AAA book and the location of the hotel was only a block or so away from the beginning. Toast restaurant which is right next to the hotel had great food. Highly recommended.

If you are looking for a hotel with perfect location to downtown charleston, this is it! A block away from market street, where a lot of restaurants and bar is at. Totally walkable, even in heels. The historic district of Charleston has only very expensive lodging, so, while not cheap, the Days Inn is a comparative bargain. The location is really outstanding, and one can walk to most attractions in the historic district. Parking availability was a big bonus since some attractions do require a car to visit.

Upon check-in, we found our room to be dirty - even the sheets! A call to the front desk this was remedied for the most part. We found candy wrappers 2 days into our stay that were not ours on the floor - unsure if they were left from previous guests or the cleaning service. We had 2 beds - 1 we could not use because it sagged so badly in the middle. […] The other was not much better. As far as location, it was great. It was right in the middle of "Museum Mile". our room was in need of maintenance, as in both doors (entry and bathroom) were not closing well, bath door was actually coming apart as it scraped the threshold. Hook on bathroom door was loose. that kind of maintenance - Room was clean and linens were well stocked.

No elevator. If you stay on the second floor you have to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs. No one at the front desk to hp. I wish I had known that before booking the room as my husband is just getting over a heart attack and I have a leg injury at the moment.

Hotel was in the perfect location. We could walk to everything in the historic area of downtown Charleston. Even though it is not a 5 star hotel, it provided everything we needed for our very enjoyable stay. The staff were great--very friendly and accomodating.

With a family of four, the standard double bed rooms were very small. Having our luggage in the room made it more crowded. However the location was awesome. This motel is in the Historic District of Charleston. The room was out dated but clean. Parking is scarce. I would stay here again, only if my stay was for one night.

This is barely a "value " choice anymore. The staff is fine. The location is the only reason to stay at this hotel. The condition of the hotel is at the bottom of the "OK" scale.

I just stayed at the Days Inn, and I am so very disappointed as to the quality. Over the past 10 plus years my family has been going to Charleston and staying at the Days Inn. I will now have to check out other accommodations for any future trips. I witnessed a lady trying to get to a meeting in the rain this past weekend (Sun.). I actually had my son go and look at the rooms for us before we went due to a couple of the reviews we saw. However, his photos and our experience showed that people really need to relax. The room was great; the bathroom ceiling at the shower head showed that a leak had occurred at some point in the bathroom above us, the shower gave shots of scalding […] water about every three minutes without warning and I would not have wanted to be near the dumpster when it got emptied; HOWEVER, the staff was great, the room was comfortable and not too loud even though we were almost right on Meeting Street, and the location cannot be beat! Terrific and helpful staff. Room had old cookie bags under the bed, I got a handicapped room but am not handicapped, parking impossible on site, old smelly carpets and bedspreads.Great location, central.

You usually pay for what you get, but I felt this was overpriced for the condition of the hotel and the rooms. Upon arrival, there was little parking available anywhere in their lot and it stayed that way during our stay. At check in, our room looked like the carpet hadn't been vacuumed, the sink drain didn't work and the shower knobs were coming out […] of the wall so the pipes were exposed. I mentioned this to the desk staff and later that day, these complaints were addressed, but the pipes were still exposed. At least they worked and there was hot water. The bathroom tile and sinks are in need of an update and the rusty safe deposit box in the room was a relic with a key instead of digital. That said, the staff was pleasant and helpful. I felt this was a pricey hotel for the state it's in, but it was convenient to the downtown and there is something to be said for that. You will need to decide if you want convenience or quality.
