Hotel Santa Catalina - Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

I was in love for Santa Catalina. I stayed there five nights and I highly recommend. This is one of the best place top relax, close to most of the best restaurants, the rooms are super clean.The staff are outstanding. There are taxis right on the right of the hotel, and it's easy to get around. My husband and I had wonderful time there!

Hotel staff were friendly, although not fluent in English. Location is perfect and you can easily take a city bus to airport, or to Old Town, or to Las Canteras Beach. Spa facilities are a bit worn down, but staff is excellent and very helpful.

I wanted to take a double room.(1king bed). At first, they did`t prepare 1king bed. Later, they changed room. Finally I got 1king bed. But, It`s wasn`t small room for us(2person). Thank you.

Overall POOR. The A/C was out the entire 20 hours we were there in the whole hotel. When we checked in the front desk didn't tell us about problem until we got to room and we called down to ask about the hot hot stuffy room. No fan was offered. We slept with hall door propped open and door to balcony ajar. The room we received was not room hotel.com […] quoted, small twin beds instead of king plus extra bed. No change was made nor no reduction to room rate. One of our first bookings with hotel.com and not sure we will use hotel.com again. VERY POOR!!! Read more

Europe at its finest!!!!!!!! Hotel Staff was superb!! Spoke English & Spanish. Very detailed orientated and not overbearing. Transportation at the ready outside the hotel (taxi's). The hotel itself is very nice, good condition, good service, and a nice breakfast buffet. The hotel is located just between the two main areas of Las Palmas, which is a bit inconvenient as you have 1,5-2 km to things like restaurant and shopping.

I came in on a cruise ship. After fighting traffic and poor directions finally arrived at the hotel. The room and atmosphere were nice. Hotel is fantastic and all you would expect from a five star establishment. Only downside is it's location. The park it adjoins is lovely but if you want to be near shops or restaurants etc. it's in a pretty baron area. But for the quality I would go back tomorrow!

This is a characterful historic hotel surrounded by parks and away from all traffic, but also away from Canteras Beach and Vagueta historic sites. Budget rooms do not have a balcony. We'd have liked a blanket to replace the heavy bedspread. A lounge server knocked over our half bottle of wine, but did not offer a replacement or even a glass of wine […] to make up the loss and spill on my slacks; disappointing. Yet the hotel does not charge for room-service continental breakfast at 4 a.m. when you have to leave for the airport before the included breakfast opens at 5 a.m.; that was nice! staff miserable & inefficient, breakfast 'service' appalling no clean tables any morning & we were left standing embarrassed mid-room waiting to sit every day. coffee machine ran out & was unpleasant. they turn the lights out at 11 to get rid of you. room was adequate but poorly soundproofed, heard next door being sick & using toilet every night. The […] bathroom was small & dingy, badly tiled & not very clean. doors to toilets were louvre slatted, very dirty & not very private. restaurant very overpriced & limited menu, same every day. Pool bar staff really stupid in every language, could not remember order for two items! 11 euros for a tiny bruschetta? really? Outdoor pool was icy cold & down the road from hotel. 'spa' really tired & like municipal swimming pool, wood seats and lockers in tiny change area, had to wear shower cap in pool like some food factory worker. pool oblong, cold & unexciting. Be warned, under 16's not allowed to use indoor pool. Not a child-friendly hotel. Area not great, there is a motorway between hotel and sea, no local restaurants. best thing is the taxi rank on the drive, get a taxi to las canteras beach which is beautiful. We found it hard to get decent food anywhere, ended up going to ginos italian in el muelle shopping centre, basic pizza and pasta but edible. Nice historic hotel, but not a 5 star. They claim that modernity and history are not mutual exclusive - I don't think the hotel does a very good job with that. Only recommendable if one like historic buildings. Staff are very nice and helpful though - breakfast buffet is very rich!

A memorable stay in a well run hotel that has excellent facilities. The breakfast had every variety of food you could want. A quiet old 4 or 5 star hotel with great but expensive food and drinks. Mainly couples pool area might be an issue in high season. Located in the harbour area not a typical English tourist area mainly Spanish. Local beach is a mile away main beach is a bus ride away, free hotel bus once a day.

We wanted to experience different aspects of the islands and were more interested in the culture and countryside of the north than the beaches of the south. We split the main part of our stay between Santa Catalina and a rural hotel. The Santa Catalina was excellent in all regards, except for one very minor point. At check-in they told us about the car park - an excellent facility in the middle of town and free while you stay there. The hotel has a wonderful period feel about it, but with modern facilities. Wi-fi is free and worked well even in our room. The buffet breakfast is superb. The restaurant is good an moderately priced, but if you want more choice there are others nearby, right outside the door or at the harbour opposite. All in all a good place to stay, and accessible both for town and countryside if you want to tour. One off point. The hotel wanted a voucher, but Hotels.com only send a confirmatory e-mail. This is my second stay and I'm just as satisfied this time as I was amazed the first time. The place is very, very nice. Stay here for a couple of nights when you visit Gran Canary. The food is great and the view is stunning. Don't forget to visit the pool at the top floor.
