I was there on business and on both Sunday and Monday nights the bar closed at 10:15. I think a bar in a hotel such as the Madison should be open to midnight.

"Decent room and amenities"
Great location for all the touristy stuff but a sleepy area during the weekends. Many places are not open Sunday at all. The hotel is about as good as you can get for the price. The room was large, comfortable and clean. The pillows were terrible. Don't waste your money on the room service. Got an expensive continental breakfast--they woke us up 1/2 before it was scheduled to confirm the order and then brought it up 15 minutes before scheduled. Then the coffee was terrible and the croissant was cold. This is the only hotel I've stayed in that doesn't have free coffee either in the lobby or in the room. The Starbuck's downstairs is tiny and you're better off at Peet's across the street. It also took about 25 minutes to get our car from valet. If you are staying on the weekend, there is plenty of street parking. During the work week, forget it.

"Disappointed"
Disappointed in hotel quality. Rooms are dated dumpy and carpet dirty. Elevators dirty. I would not stay at this hotel again it's not worth of money

"Great hotel near White House"
Only stayed one night but loved the hotel - junior suite was basically just a large room, but very comfortable. Beds not that comfy but otherwise no complaints. Not many restaurants/shops in the immediate vicinity, but lots of places if you walk about 5 blocks in any direction, and White House is an easy walk. Staff very attentive and helpful.

"Great holiday weekend"
Hotel was walkable to the Mall. The staff were all very nice. We had an issue with a barking dog next door and the hotel handled the situation perfectly. Had a good brunch in the restaurant. Only knock was the view, but it was the same for all of the rooms of that room type. Otherwise, we would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to others.

"Ok hotel, but not amazing"
Just returned from a 4 night stay at Loews Madison and while the hotel was nice, it wasn't great. We were given our key to the room and taken by a porter to find it was still being cleaned, once they had finished, you could see they had quickly dusted the tops on the TV console, as you could see where they'd missed. I have a 3 yr old and I don't think the facilities were that family friendly, especially in the selection of food. More for couples, business etc. Great location, but not a great choice of restaurants around, again more for business users. Service in the restaurant wasn't the best either, very rushed, not the friendliest, always had to look for staff when we wanted something, no one checking on us. Also no coffee making facilities in the room, which I always like, instead they had it at the bottom of the lift in the mornings, but it wasn't there very long, if you had a lie in you would miss it, instead you'd then have to purchase coffee from their own starbucks coffee bar. This was also never open later in the afternoon or on a night, so if you wanted a coffee you'd again have to purchase for a overflated cost. Finally note the best toiletries at all for a hotel of this star rating. A basic conditioner, shampoo and moisturiser and a bar of horrible soap. Overall ok, but not great.

"Expedia+ Gold Members Stay Away"
The hotel, in general, is a nice hotel. However, what I find objectionable is the "extra special" upgrade they provide Expedia+ Gold Members. Be warned, it is NOT an upgrade. They provided me with complimentary internet access and made a big deal about this when I checked in; everyone gets this upgrade. There is nothing about it that is exclusive to Gold Members. Absent that it is not a bad hotel to stay in; however,for those who do luxury travel often, I wouldn't waste your VIP access status here.

"Good location Not great Experience"
The hotel is in a very good location for walking to the White House and other destinations. Very nice lobby with a good restaurant and bar. The room was fine, the bed comfortable and it was quiet. There were a few issues while there. My husband had to get a pair of pants dry cleaned in time for a special event. We were told they would be ready by 5 that night for sure. The end result was that they did not get the pants in by the time we left at 7 PM with my husband in blue jeans. He repeatedly called with the front desk with them sometimes not answering, sometimes not calling back when they said they would and of course as I said we did not get the pants in time. They did leave us a fruit plate in the room along with the pants later that night. The hotel really should have not charged us for the cleaning. A few other strange issues included finding some else's name tag in our room after the room was cleaned and the trash can was left on top of the toilet. Also, you cannot store anything personal in the room refrigerator. You need to call for an additional small refrigerator to be put in your room for this. It was a hassle as I had medicine that needed to be kept cold. The first night it was late and the phones did not work in our room so I had to displace some of the items in the room refrig to store the medicine. At check out it was a bit of a hassle getting the charges for the refrigerator settled.

"Major AC issues"
It was over 90 degrees outside and the first room I was put in was extremely warm. The woman at the front desk relocated me to yet another room on the same floor with the same issue. She admitted that the rooms recently had new systems installed that weren't working properly. I insisted on a new room on a different floor and finally was accommodated. The ordeal cost me over an hour of an already tightly scheduled trip.

"Bummer, no hot water"
The Loews Madison is a beautiful hotel and I probably would have rated it a perfect five stars but there was no hot water in the hotel during my stay. I wasn't able to have a warm shower. The hotel did give us complimentary wine which was nice. They also explained that it was a city issue and not the hotel. I would give this hotel another try though. It is beautiful with a great location. We chose to stay here for the Pope's visit. The hotel was close to the festivities and the White House.

"Nice hotel, great location"
Convenient location within a 10 minute walk of the vibrant "14th Street NW corridor" that starts at P street. Another 5-10 minute walk to the up and coming "U Street Corridor" and also relatively accessible to the Mall. Very nice hotel staff who were eager to provide tips for fun things to do. Negative was that parking was way too expensive $50 for overnight and that most nearby parking garages, while cheaper, all seemed to be closed on weekends. Suggest park and ride from an outlying metro stop as you don't need a car in this area and parking is expensive.

"A Wedding Remebered for the Wrong Reason"
I selected this hotel for a gift for my son and his bride The day of the wedding the air conditioner went out in the room. Temperature that day was almost 90 degrees. The Bride sweated out her dress. She had to take it off. Air conditioner came back on briefly. She was stressed out on her wedding day and late for her wedding. I complained to the manager, Why didn't you put her in a day room or offer some other accommodation, perhaps an extended check-out . Nothing. I will never use that Hotel again!!!!!!!

"Nice hotel!"
Very quiet, clean rooms. Very helpful staff. My only concern (and its a mild niggle) was that the room was clearly booked for 3 guests, but the towels/glasses etc were provided for 2. While the hotel rushed to get us extra glasses when asked, it would have been nice if they also provided extra glasses the following day instead of room service removing them. Same for towels. Parking was expensive (as always in central DC) - I thought parking was included in my room rate, but at check-out I had to pay for another day. Otherwise, it was a very nice hotel.

"Good location and hotel, but awkward staff."
The location was good. The staff seemed a little rude and unprepared. The day of the check out, before the checkout time, they started knocking on the doors and asking if we used anything from the bar... I mean, their check in time for the next guests is 4PM. They could've waited till people left the room. According to me, that was highly rude and unprofessional. The check in was a little time consuming because their system was a little messed up. Make sure you know that the difference between the Luxury Room and the regular room isn't much. I paid extra, but didn't see that much of a difference. The beds weren't plush like usually most hotels have.

What a wonderful surprise we found in this hotel! My husband took me to DC for my birthday, and this hotel turned out to be a fantastic part of my birthday. The staff were all very friendly and upon learning that we were celebrating, the concierge, Innocent, surprised us with complimentary cocktail coupons! Our room was very comfortable and clean, with a wonderfully modern yet classic appeal. We were withing walking distance to the White House, as well as numerous restaurants. I would absolutely stay here again.

"ok location"
I was disappointed in the mattress quality and bedding. It was hard, uncomfortable, and sheets were rough. Air conditioning had to be on very cold so room didn't smell musty. Could not use business area computers to print boarding passes unless you swiped a credit card.

I spent one night here recently while in DC visiting my son who is at a DC college. The room was very nice and the staff were wonderful. I got a great rate from hotels.com that included parking (which is valet parking). A Pete's is right across the street from the hotel's main entrance for coffee and a simple breakfast.

"Dorm Room Comfort Mattresses"
This was one of the worst 4 star hotels I have ever stayed at, and I wonder how they got this rating. The beds were HORRIBLY uncomfortable, you could feel the springs, they were not pillow top they felt like dorm room mattresses. The shower had noticeable rust/mold stains, I ordered room service the silverware came up dirty. I don't know what would possess anyone to stay here. I was not he 12th floor so the location / view is nice but other then that save your money stay at the marriott down the street.

"Mixed Bag -- terrible towels and no housekeeping o"
I am not sure how this hotel with its renovations etc. can a. not have coffee makers in the room -- you have to go to the lobby to get free coffee. b. have towels that are on par with Motel 6 c. have no housekeeping (they didnt expect full occupancy one night due to airport problems) -- havent they heard of an emergency or contingency plan for such.

"The hotel was not on par with others in the area"
Overall I would rate the hotel stay a 3. I travel a lot for work and I have to say I was disappointed in the service at the hotel. The rooms inside seemed to be cleaned well, however we noticed that there were may room service trays left out for extended periods of time, lack of attention to detail regarding the hallways and overall the service was not on par with other Lowes properties I have stayed at in the past. We also had a bad experience trying to order room service, where multiple things on the menu were not available and eventually we had to go downstairs to talk to someone to order dinner for our room. Not the best experience.

"DC trip"
I choose the pre-paid option and additional charge via hotel.com to have a guarantee double beds room. When arrived 1 AM in the morning, been told that hotel is sold out and ended up with one king for family of four. When booking we knew that hotel does offer microwave but after checking they said NO Next morning we asked again and they said don't have it. After 4 days staying there during checkout they ask how was my staying I said I need microwave for the baby and your hotel doesn't offer. The staff said it is not True we have them available. "Nice hotel not too far from everything"
The hotel was Nice enough and it was conveniently located; not too far from the White House. Nothing about it impressed me but also nothing bothered me either. The beds were comfortable and I guess that was what we were looking for. We had interior rooms and thus there was no view whatsoever.

"Nice hotel and in a good location"
The hotel is very pretty and has a Starbucks in the lobby which is a plus! The room was very nice! My only complaints were the front desk was always busy and when we tried to get late check out they tried to charge us another night.
