The Portola Hotel & Spa at Monterey Bay is located in historic downtown Monterey, Calif. The hotel is one half-mile from Cannery Row. Famed 17-Mile Drive and Pebble Beach Golf Course are three miles from the hotel.

Hotel Features.
The hotel includes Jacks Restaurant, which serves American cuisine and features outdoor, fireside dining. Peter B's Brewpub includes 15 high-definition televisions. An outdoor pool, spa tub, steam room, sauna and fitness center are offered. The on-site spa has a selection of services, including massages. The hotel was so nice and clean and the beds were comfortable. The location was great (right across from Fisherman's Warf), and there was a path right... outside the hotel that goes along the harbor right up to Cannery Row/Monterey Bay Aquarium, which is only a little over a mile. The walk is great too because there are a ton of seals and other beautiful sites along the way. Very happy we stayed here. by Sara from Sacramento on 05/01/13

This was a nice hotel for the price in Monterey, but a few things would have made it perfect- air conditioning or a quiet ceiling fan in my room (my fan was so noisy, room 481!), and knowing in advance that a JUNIOR JAZZ seminar was going to be held there during my stay. Great place to stay for Monterey Conference Center and being close to good walking paths and Montrey Bay. Advertising that they have "harbor views" and charging more for them is unfortunate. Everyone was friendly!! The place was really clean!! The pool and hot tub were awesome!! We were only there for one night so I didn't get around to the exercise room. Can't wait to go back!!

Great location and very friendly front desk. The bathroom sink was a little slow to drain but the free, baked on-site warm cookies (with Guittard chocolate) made up for that. For those that can't stand the roasted-to-death Starbucks coffee there is Caffe Trieste couple of blocks down on Alavarado Street.

Yes, the hotel is conveniently located in the hub of Monterey, right next to downtown, Fisherman's wharf and the boardwalk. Room was nice and comfortable, maybe a little dated. The location was great. However, the staff was not the best. We had a rude clerk check us in and had a rude valet when we showed up as well. We did however have a very helpful bell hop and the bartender was great too. So the service was not awful, just inconsistent.

- location was great and was close to many amenities and attractions - parking was a bit expensive per day ($17) tip: there is a parking structure a block away that is $10 a day) - did get the king bedroom we requested and got two doubles instead (made it difficult since we had a toddler and we had to push the beds together)
