Location and staff are good but hotel could use some updating. It is on Grand Canal near Train station. We arrived after the flood subsided and staff was mopping up and setting lobby furniture back in place. They recovered quickly.

There is this old smell in the room, but hey, its Venice so it is expected. The room wallpaper is a bit dark, so it creates this creepy atmosphere... Other than that, it was clean, staff was helpful, breakfast was good. Pros: Very close to train station. Clean. Con: A lil outdated, old smell.

1st room smelled like urine, smoke, stained carpet and walls. They did give me a different room but only the next night...unpleasant night sleep for sure! Second room was cleaner and didn't smell but overall drab, quite small, barely comfortable. Located on a very touristy strip, learned only after visiting that there were much better locations to stay. […] No amenities at the hotel, no concierge services - when we asked for advice on a restaurant, we came up pretty empty. Front desk staff were a little severe and cranky and didn't engage with the guests. Bruno, our waiter in the restaurant at the hotel was friendly, polite and engaged in conversation with us but he is really the only one. This hotel seems to count on one time guests, perhaps for short stays, and not for repeat customers! Do your research and find something more pleasant and comfortable and in a better location. The hotel is conveniently located near the bus station, visibly from the bridge. When we checked in, we were told that some of the rooms had plumbing problems. However, the hotel had made arrangement for us to stay at a 4-star hotel. Expedia had a sale so I got a great rate on a hotel on the Grand Canal. The hotel was very nice - great lobby and breakfast area outside over the Grand Canal. The room was small with no view and the table barely held a laptop, but it was clean enough and the Internet worked.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise - and a very good value, considering its location near the St. Lucia Rail station. and my concern that because it is in a high traffic area it would be overrun by tourists. It has a classy entrance and lobby, and a wonderful breakfast dining area, and my 4th floor room overlooked the Canal.

The hotel is really great. It located near the train terminal and need no bridge and very few steps to get. Very convenient if you carry luggage with you. The room is very clean and in good shape. Wonderful hotel. The safe in our room wasn't working but we stored our valuables in a safe deposit at the hotel for free & it was larger than the safe anyway. both of our laptops fit along with some other smaller things. they sold us our hop on bus tickets for a discount. the hotel is a short walk from the stop. Wonderful experience! We had a room with "half board" and it turned out we were able to have a fancy free dinner right on the Grand Canal every night ! Great free breakfast, too. You can't beat the location, especially that we had a corner room, all windows, with a panoramic view of the Grand Canal. The Continental Hotel is on the Grand Canal and has a lot of excellent food, gelato, and souvenir shops around it. The cruise ship port is nearby (using their bus line) and the train station and public water transportation system stop are within a few minutes' walking distance. This hotel was just what we needed in Venice. The boat we took from the airport took us right to the hotel, as it faces the canal. The service was great. Pros: It's close to the train station. They have free WiFi in the lobby. The staff are reasonably friendly and helpful. Cons: The rooms are uninspirationally plain and cold. Our ceiling dripped from a water leak. The shower was the worst we had during our trip. Our least favorite room on our trip.

This hotel is perfectly situated, walking distance from the train and to most any other places you may want to go. Ask for a room to the left of the Grand Canal when facing the hotel as they load/unload from boats in early morning on the right side and it can get noisy.

Impressive entrance hall (common with most hotels) but quite 'tired' in the rest of the hotel. The concierge had seen and heard it all before but nevertheless every statement was followed with "you are welcome' (in response to my 'thank you') which of course meant nothing. Most of the advice he gave was in fact wrong e.g. where a certain supermarket […] was to be found, the location of a vegetarian restaurant, whether a shop was open or not but heigh ho when he was told of his misinformation there was no mention of a 'sorry'. good sized room and newly renovated bathroom on the 4th floor. The hotel consist of several old buildings connected and it's very easy to get lost. There were no elevator to the 4th floor but the porter carried the luggage there and back so it's not a big issue.

The room I stayed in is small but clean and has a great view of canal. I suppose the hotel, like most of the motels in the Island, is quite old and I can hear the water going through the pipe. The only positive for this hotel is that it is close to Venice's Santa Lucia Railway station, so you don't have to drag your bags over cobble stone streets or catch a water taxi. Its on the banks of the Grand Canal, so good views if you are lucky enough to get a room facing the canal! Otherwise it is an old, run down, hotel which is certainly not 3 […] star! The room was cramp, claustrophobic and unclean. The bathroom was old run down and there was hair on the floor and it smelt. The carpet was unclean, the bed was hard, had only one pillow and the hotel did not have air conditioning that was turned on. Staff refused to turn it on and said to open to the windows!
