"Terrible! The worst experience I've ever had."
The staff changed our sheets once out of 6 days. And never cleaned our room the entire time. No toilet paper, called 100 times for extra towels. The shuttle never showed up at the airport after waiting 2 hours and told they come every 30 min. The only thing nice about the free shuttle was that is was free. But you have to wait about 45-55min (they say every 30 mins) to wave down the shuttle. Staff was rude to other guests however, the guy who was checking us in was ok (but not helpful). The hotel appeared to be very full. It is very close to the airport. I requested a lift van to airport when booking, companion full time in wheelchair and can't stand or walk. No lift van. They finally called a lift cab for us to make our flight at MIA. Internet not working for a full night and day. It was off. In the business center, you had to actually pay to use the internet ($39 cents the minute!!!) "OK For Airport."
I read reviews, some said great, others said terrible. It's a tired cliche, but it's still true - you get what you pay for. I was looking for something inexpensive (relatively) for an overnight between flights (Miami International) and this fit the bill (sorry). It was less expensive than others which met my requirements - free shuttle and breakfast […] (more about that later). If you desire 5 or 4 star this isn't it, but you'll probably pay a premium for those, and at least with this hotel I feel I got 3 star, which would be better than paying for 4 or 5 star and not getting that level of quality. I slept fine. No bugs. The floors were wood instead of all carpet which was a little different, but not an issue as far as I was concerned (maybe that was cleaner). Things worked (TV, AC, furniture, etc.). Shampoo packets were a little skimpy. Bottom line, I shopped around online and feel I received adequate accommodations for a decent price. What was supposed to be a simple overnight to catch a connecting flight the next day turned into a very annoying 48 minute wait at airport , breathing in exhaust fumes with my small son for a shuttle that didnt come until i called the hotel 3 times - when the hotel is less than one mile or 9 minutes away ..... of course the next day .. the ONLY times […] the shuttle didnt run was the time i had to get to the airport - when they went to the miami cruise port instead ...NO ONE told me this at chk in ...and the manager points to a tiny sign that i didnt see at chk in. "Glad it was just one night"
We stayed for an overnight layover. When we came in the staff was very friendly, but had to do everything manually because their systems were down. At first appearance the room seemed fine, although it was disgustingly hot because the air had been turned off. The room never got very cold, but it was comfortable for a few hours. The beds were comfortable, […] but when I got in, I noticed black gunk on the inside of my comforter. When we woke up we found ants all over the sink and desk area. I was happy to get out of there! Luckily the shuttle to and from the airport was free and convenient. It runs 5am-midnight every 30 minutes. They should really post that somewhere because we couldn't find it and had to call three different numbers to try to find the actual hotel number (which we never actually did, but luckily the final person gave us the shuttle info we needed). The hotel also had free breakfast, but we left too early to have it. The one other thing that would've been great would be if they had a mini fridge in the room. If the room had been a little cheaper, I would've chalked it up to being an inexpensive hotel/one bad experience, but for what we paid, we definitely should've at least had something that felt cleaner than it did. "One notch below meh"
I stayed there for one night after I got rebooked onto another flight that was leaving the next day. When I waled into my room, it had a funny smell of mildew. The beds were not made very nicely. It didn't even look like they had changed the sheets from the last person who stayed there. I was questioning the whole time whether I should sleep on it or […] not. I sucked it up, having already paid a hundred and sixty dollars for the room. They advertised it as one twenty five , the extra forty bucks is the tax that you have to pay. Too pricey for what you're getting. I didn't even bother to have their continental breakfast. There's a chicken wing's place next door if you're into mediocre bar food. The only plus side is that there is a shuttle service to the airport. But al the surrounding hotels have this, so this is not a deal breaker. I have some comments/complaints about my staying at the Miami Red Roof Hotel. 1.- This hotel is 100 smoke free according to advertising and signs in hotel. However, floor 2 in building where front desk is located was totally polluted of smoke. The smell was so strong you could even noticed it when the elevator door opened. We left the hotel few days later and made a reservation for one more night one day before I took my flight. 1.- We had to ask for a room change since the air conditioned did not work and room was like an oven. 2.- Breakfast area were so so crowded you had to go and seat at the pool area. They had just, bread, muffins and juice.... no hot breakfast. For the price they could have had scrambled eggs at least. 3.- They got me a room in the other building, well for our surprise, in the bathroom we found drops of what seemed to be blood.
