Vagabond is an older hotel but the rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast is typical HB eggs and waffles coffee/juice but hey it's free. Hotel is convenient to I-8 but you do get some traffic noise at night. Stay in rooms farther back from the I-8 frontage may be better. Overall, would stay there again.

The comforters need updating and it's a good room for space, but we stayed one day and that was plenty. We liked that there was a table and 2 chairs, but we had to ask for a power bar as they don't have many outlets in the room. We had to call down to ask for the password for the WIFI too as it was not provided at check in or in the room that we could […] find. Get your free breakfast early because you will find a crowd for the 4 waffle makers to make your own waffles. Cereal selections are great and they stock them well. Great hotel if your not going to be in it that much. Perfect location for Sea World, Zoo, Downtown etc. Also easy drive to bay and beaches. Pool is nice and free breakfast is simple but good. Costs a little more than some but breakfast makes up for it.

I do enjoyed my stay in Vagabond Inn Hotel Circle, San Diego. Its location is excellent. The service is pleasant and courteous. The room is very clean. However, I would suggested rooms need renovation, such as the carpet needs changing. Overall, the stay is comfortable and met my needs. Thanks.

The Vagabond being on hotel circle was in a good local and it was, the front desk people were very helpful and efficent. We were mostly using the public transportation system downtown and they were very knowledgeable about that. The one thing I will say bad is about the maid service, we had a 4 day stay and as each day went by, small things werent replaced, […] coffee cups, soaps. We were pleased with size & location of the room (ground floor/disabled parking) but the bathroom was so cramped, my disabled husband had trouble getting to the toilet. There were 2 showerheads, but the sliding one was broken. Also, I was looking forward to soaking in the tub, but couldn't because the stopper didn't work. The website claimed they had […] pillowtop beds - but they didn't, and I never got a very good night's sleep because the bed was too firm for me. We requested an extra pillow for my husband, but they didn't have one. The clerk promised one for the next day - but they were out again! A kind guest that overheard me complaining gave me one of his, bless his heart. When we came back our 2nd day the room hadn't been serviced! Dirty towels still on the floor, remains of breakfast all over the table...For the price we paid, this was unacceptable. Got no help from the office - they just said house keeping was gone for the day. They couldn't even bring me an extra trash bag! Housekeeping was OK the other days. The breakfasts were OK, but the same every day (for 4 days) and served in the cramped office - you have to take it back to your room. The hotel was sold out, but they did a pretty good job of keeping things stocked. We liked that the sink/counter was separate from the tub/toilet, but would've been nice to have another mirror in the room. For the right price, we might give this place a second chance - the service might be better on a slower weekend. Read more

Our room was an adjoining room - and there was only one door, unlike the two normally on adjoining rooms. I could hear everything the neighbors were saying. After we turned out our lights,the light coming around the door from the neighbors was so bright it lit our entire room! The staff were wonderful, and attentive. The rooms are very well maintained. If you do not have a car, taxi and shuttle rides are quite costly. If you have your own transportation the hotel and location are perfect. I would stay there again.

The Vagabond was a pleasant surprise. By booking on-line with Expedia we got an extremely good rate for our four days there. There were no additional charges made by the hotel. Two very nice pools and hot tub, clean rooms, nice furniture and exceptionally comfortable beds. I would strongly suggest families looking for a deal seriously consider the Vagabond. […] You wont regret it. And, being on the famed Hotel Circle, there were several modestly priced resturants within walking distince (one right next door) with excellect family fare. All in all, a wonderful experience. PROS: Two pools open late, rooms are good size, beds comfortable, staff are nice and friendly, reasonable parking space, decent toiletries, good wifi, microwave and fridge in room. Like many other reviewers, we needed a place to take a shower and sleep. This met our needs. The room was very clean and comfortable. There were waffle makers for breakfast, and my kids (ages 9 and 7) got a huge kick out of being able to make their own waffles. There are no tables at all in the lobby/breakfast area, so you'll need to eat in your room. […] That was no big deal for us. I did notice that people would use the tables at the pool to eat their breakfast, but there were only 2 or 3 tables there. The water pressure in the shower was not great, but it got us clean. There was not a hair dryer in the room, but I was given one when I asked the person at the front desk if they had any hair dryers. Overall, it was a good place to stay and very convenient to get to Balboa Park, the downtown area, the beaches, etc. It is a 2 star hotel, so if you go expecting 5 star treatment, you will be disappointed. If you go expecting 2 star treatment, then I think you will find that it meets your expectations or maybe even exceeds them. Read more
