Vagabond is an affordable 1hr beach getaway from LA and has good location if you wish to go to the beach and at the same time stay close to the Ventura Downtown! It only takes less than 5 minutes to walk to the beach and less than 5 minutes as well to walk to downtown. Staying in Vagabond is a good price. They offer continental breakfast which includes 3-4 varietes of single packaged bread/pastries, some fruits, sometimes packaged oatmeal, and hot beverages including tea and hot chocolate. If you are staying with your child and you need a crib, just ask the staff for crib and they will deliver and assemble it in your room. The only downside is that Vagabond is near the railroad so you can hear the train every time it passes by. Another downside is their door, or should I say the neighbor's, whenever they close the door it seems like they are slamming it - and it's bothering especially that I have a one year old child with me. I have had a good experience at the Vagabond in Sacramento, so this was a disappoint. Non-smoking room reeked of cigarettes. They quickly gave me a new room, but it reeked of chemicals, possibly from the carpet. It was convenient for my one night stay, but I wouldn't book again.

We were mostly pleased w the vagabond. We wish there had been regular coffee and condiments for the coffee. There were cig butts in the parking lot, but we loved the mattress :). I would def recommend the vagabond

We enjoyed our short stop. Next time we will take advantage of the within walking distance pier restaurants and spend a little time at the beach as part of the quick trip. The room is sufficient and clean and the price is perfect for a place to sleep.

I had a very pleasant stay. The room was very clean and smelled wonderful. I love that you provide 4 large pillows. Having a microwave, fridge and coffee maker is very handy. The only problem I had was my tv remote did not work very well. Other than that, I had a very good stay. Thank you!

Came to see the B52s play at the Ventura Majestic Theater which is an easy walk from the Vagabond Hotel. The Ventura Pier is also an easy walk. This motel is kind of old but pretty well maintained. It's biggest asset is it's location which is convenient to whatever you are doing in Ventura. About a block from the ocean. I travel extensively for business […] and typically stay at the higher end hotel chains. If that is what you are accustomed to you might be disappointed, but I found it to be convenient, affordable, and comfortable. We had breakfast at the attached resturant. The resturant was packed. I understand that this hotel attracts a lot of people stopping through for business, which was exactly our purpose. We weren't looking for any luxuries or amenities, but couldn't get over how dirty the place was and how much our rooms reeked of smoke.

Between the trains going by right behind the hotel and the fact that anyone talking within 20 feet of your room sounding like they're right in your room I got virtually no sleep the 3 nights I spent there. The rooms themselves are ok, as is the service. The noise was simply intolerable.

The hotel is just a short walk to the Beach and the Ventura Pier, also close to the Fairgrounds, The Mission, The Museum, and Main Street, where there is an abundance of cool shops, including, Antiques, boutigues, thrift stores, and Art Galleries. Everything is good, location close to the beach. Restaurant right on the spot , great diner. Except for the bed, very uncomfortable...need to change it. A very clean room; and a comfortable bed are most important. The swimming pool and hot tub were an added bonus for unwinding after a long drive. Thank you for the coffee and pastry in the morning! Also a very nice dinner located on the property; they will prepare food to go!
