"Best value in Waikiki - esp. for seasoned guests!"
This is a great place to stay if you know Waikiki well. Somehow it stays off the radar and gets mediocre ratings - probably from people who are expecting perfection and a view of the beach. But for Oahu-regulars, this place is hard to beat. It's close enough to the canal to take advantage of the free street parking (although the hunt for a spot will […] always be the biggest battle of the day...) yet close enough to walk to the beach or the MANY excellent restaurants nearby. For example Kimukatsu, a superb Japanese dining experience, just opened across the street from the hotel. From floor 11 and up, you get a great view of the ocean (and a great view of the Hilton fireworks on Friday and Saturday at 845pm...). Otherwise, although the views are not spectacular, the freshly updated rooms are very comfortable and the staff is outstanding. The only true problem with the hotel is the wonky elevator system... but after a while it becomes a somewhat charming annoyance that you accept as a tradeoff for the reasonable room rates. This place is probably the best value in Waikiki. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Malia, We would stay again."
The Malia was clean with a helpful staff and great location. The upper south side rooms have a nice view of the city and ocean. "ok for a short stay"
Hotel bed was very big and i slept well. The hotel room was a bit darker than I would like however it was equipped with what i needed. The lifts are so old and very slow. The pool is not worth it, it's too small and maybe ok for kids only. There was one disappointing aspect that I will not forget. I left an art print in the room and went back within […] 30 minutes of checking out to get it as it was important. The housekeeper had already destroyed it and it was not retrievable. Ohana Malia does not attempt to be fancy; there is no monumental architecture. But the desk staff was always warm and gracious and helpful, and the housekeeping staff friendly and efficient. The lanai is only big enough for one chair, but that was fine for a single person. The pool is laughably small, but guests are welcome to use the pools at Ohana […] West with an adjacent bar, and Ohana East which is larger still and open later in the evening. Ohana Malia's location is immediately across the street from The Bus stops, making a car unnecessary to visit museums, Chinatown, or Diamond Head. Even the onsite IHOP is surprisingly pleasant. Be forewarned that internet connections are slow in Waikiki, and Ohana's television offerings are paltry. But who wants to read email or watch tv in Hawai'i? Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Hotel, Great Location"
We have stayed in many hotels in Waikiki and this motel should be rated with the bestGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Parking garage called at 10:30 pm"
The hotel is located at the central of the Wakiki. It's very convenient location. But the service is not that great. We got a call from the garage worker at 10:30 pm to ask us to pay the first day $20 parking immediately at the middle of our stay ( we pre-paid 10 days stay). He insisted that we have to go down stair to pay it right away or he is going […] to charge us $30 more ( for the mistake they made. ). It's very rude. When I asked him why he can't call us earlier instead of 11:00 pm to wake me up, he said it's only 10:30 pm and I am only doing my job. Never appologize for calling us at 10:30 pm to wake us up. When my husband went downstair to pay that $20 dollar parking for the first day parking, we just realize how messy is their parking system. We kind of glad to get that out of our way before receiving a huge parking bill for the parking we never used. The hotel charges $20 per night for parking is extremely unreasonable. It's very hard to drive up to ramp to the parking they have and there is $8 to $10 public parking next down or ddown the street. The room we had was in the back and close to lewer st. which is a bar located. We can almost hear the noise remotely every night from 11 floor. The room has a funny smell and at the end of our stay, the house keeper starts giving us older towels. We were out most of time except the last one or two days. I probably will give a better rating if the garage guy who didn't call us at 10:30 pm. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ohana Waikiki Malia - a better hotel than expected"
this hotel belongs to the Outrigger group and yet is one of the best in the area (Kuhio/Lewers) where the Beachwalk is and also in the center of shopping areas. the beach is only a 10-minute walk. the gay bars are just around the corner and a couple of blocks away. the International Market Place is only 3 blocks down. the rooms (Malia Tower) are well […] appointed. probably a little smaller in square footage, but it has a seating area and a small balcony to breathe fresher air. it is centralized air-conditioned. the higher floors are quieter than the lower floors. the staff are nice and warm. beds are always tidied-up. there is no room-service, but there is an IHOP next to the lobby and a sports bar as well. overall my stay in this hotel is more than satisfactory. i will stay there again on my next visit. i will also recommend this to my friends/family. Overall I thought this stay was fine but I didn't like the way that they had the hotel on lock-down after hours. They were checking names and making it difficult to go to the room. Way overdone!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

We loved staying at the Ohana Waikiki Malia. The room was very clean and comfortable. Maid service was outstanding and the front desk staff were terrific. "Hotel itself is nice."
No doubt on this. But the elevator system is a little bit awkward. There are total three elevators and one button to stop one of those but only one elevator reaches to the parking area. It's like lottery. And road system of Waikiki is really a maze. Every street except Kuhio ave is one way, so you'll wander a lot if you try to reach there by driving. "Ohana Malia Waikiki"
Recent renovations as well as a big, relaxing hot tub made my stay memorable. The staff was mostly friendly and the sports bar was modern with great happy hours. Bar tender and staff were extra friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Location very good as well. My only gripe was one of three elevators was not in operation and when an entire high school […] marching band showed up, it took hours to get up to my room. Good thing the bar is such a friendly place to kill time. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would most definitely stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The hotel is in the middle of the Waikiki beach shopping area and a couple of blocks from the beach. The staff were helpful, the room clean. "Not what I expected"
Pros to this hotel: Great location, walking distance to everything in Waikiki. Staff was friendly, especially the parking attendants. However the biggest issue I have is that the rooms - or at least our room - looked nothing like the pictures on here. We were put in the "Luana" wing, so I'm not sure if the other tower has better rooms or not. After […] getting off the elevator we had to go outside to get to our room door. Our room was very old, much like a run-down budget motel. The bed was hard. Weird set-up with a sliding door to a lanai that was shared by the other rooms on our floor, which didn't exactly make me feel safe. The air conditioner worked great but was terribly loud. If we were staying any longer than 2 nights, and needed our room for anything other than just a place to sleep, it would not have been acceptable. Parking is also challenging with very narrow spots and ramps, kind of a concern bringing a rental car in there. We got a great rate but next time I will pay more to stay somewhere a little nicer. "A Honolulu Experience"
If you want to stay in the heart of Honolulu then the Ohana Malia is a nice homely hotel where the staff are very helpful, always smiling and greet you whenever you come in or go out. "Close to beach and shopping & resturants"
I was a pleasantly surprised with the hotels location. The room was clean and the lobby nice, but not huge. I liked the hot tub/jucuzzi especially after a climb to Diamond Head (which is only 20min bus ride cost $2.50) Perl harbour also $2.50 took about 45min on the bus. Free 15min call to US and Canada each time call as many times as you like. There […] is a small pool also. We had a good stay and would recommend it and stay again. I am proud to say that our housekeepers, really do a great job in maintaining our rooms and keeping our lobby nice and clean. The hot tub in the courtyard is a plus although our pool is a bit small. It is due to the area in which we had to build one. I am glad that you had the chance to call the continental US and Canada for free. This is another service we provide our guests through our Waikiki Connection Program. "Great hotel handy to all amenities."
We booked a one bedroom kitchenette room and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our stay was for 15 days. We occasionally shopped for items and cooked light meals as a change to eating out. The bus stops to all our destinations were virtually right outside our door and when wishing to travel to the Ala Moana Shopping Centre the free Pink trolley depot […] was right next door in the DFS Galleria building. The IHop restaurant attached to the hotel serves up really good food and we also ate there from time to time. Response by OHANA Waikiki Malia Aloha & Mahalo for your five star review! It is nice to read how you found our kitchenette unit handy for cooking during your 15 day stay. Good mid range hotel. A couple of blocks from the beach but isn't a problem because you can window shop on the way.
