Nice hotel...right across from a nice park..a little out of the way for downtown activities. The staff is very helpful and friendly...the front desk people and the bell-persons were really helpful.. We learned to take the extra door key out of the light switch when we left..if you don't the maids will think that you are still in the room and won't make up your room. The food in the hotel is also excellent !

The hotel was up to the standards of the Hyatt chain. The room was very nice and the hotel staff was helpful. They stored our luggage since we arrived early in the morning, and also stored it after we checked out. They even gave us a late checkout. The only negatives were that the hotel is located several blocks from the downtown area and is at the top of a hill. There were no bus stops near the hotel, but taxis were available. It was an excellent value for the rate paid.

We were very satified with our stay at the Hyatt in Auckland. It is a convenient location if one doesn't mind walking up and down a couple of hills to get to the main shopping area and back. Our room appeared to be in a newer section of the hotel. It had a fairly comfortable bed and a nice, modern bathroom. Our son stayed in an older section of the hotel in a less expensive room and had not only a bedroom but also a small living room.

I stayed in the smallest Hyatt room I have ever stayed in. The bed was a double and took up nearly the entire room. The cabinets had some missing knobs, the lamps were old, this room has definitely earned Hyatt it's money. The oddest thing in the room was the requirement to insert the room key in a switch near the door in order to get the electricity to function. Then when you are out, the electric is off, meaning that you cannot recharge a laptop and since the a/c is off, you return to a stuffy room.

Comfortable, clean hotel with nice bay view. Staff was very courteous. Conveniently located close to the city, harbour, etc. Paid $75 (NZ) for a taxi from the hotel to the airport (apporx. 20 km/12.5 miles) using the meter. I am not sure if there is a fixed price taxi, should have asked before I left.

Reviewed by Bob of SC on Apr 9, 2007
This is one of the worst hotels we have ever encountered. Housekeeping "forgot" to leave several essentials items (eg. towels!) every day. Bellmen were almost non-existent. Dining room staff ignored guests who were eating there. The front desk staff were great, but they could not make up for the overall lack of quality of the staff.
