For the cost, it couldve been slightly better. I know its cheap but could we at least make sure the previous tenant's pub** hair isn't on the wash cloths? There's more but whatever, it was cheap.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Newly Renovated, Nice Area"
We booked several rooms for a wedding party.....all rooms were recently remodeled with flat screens, however, none of us had pillow top mattresses. One family member booked a double room and none were available so she was upgraded to a suite at no extra cost. Only the suites have fridge and microwave. Staff was friendly nd catered to all our needs. […] Great experience overall. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just a place to sleep"
We only needed a place for one night, and it served its purpose. The place was decent, but nothing fancy. If you want a cheap hotel for a night or 2 then this is the place. It's located near most of the shopping centers, so it's very convenient.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our first impression on checking in was ok. The staff was nice. Our room was terrible. there was a musty smoky odor in a non smoking room, receptacle covers were missing, paint was peeling and was sloppily applied and very out of date, Bathtub was either very dirty or very stained and we never had our bed made on the 3rd night's stay. I"m very surprised […] this hotel passes inspection. considering we paid over $100 night, conditions were deplorable Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what we expected"
First they tried to give us a room without any of the amenities for the room that I booked. There was no fridge or microwave. We waited an hour for them to clean another room that did have a fridge and microwave but it was very basic. The remote for the TV would not work, it had a reset button the back that we pushed and got it to come on and then found […] the buttons on the bottom of the TV to change channels, of course standing in front of the set to do this. We booked two nights thru Expedia, but they forgot to program the key for two and when we came back to the hotel we could not get into our room until every detail was checked and re-checked about our booking. Housekeeping did come and take the wet towels the next morning but didn't give us any more. We went to the office to ask for clean towels and they told us that they didn't have any yet that they were being washed and they would bring some as soon as they were done. Three hours later, they still didn't have any for us. It was after supper at about 8:30 before we got the clean towels. The neighbors were very noisy during the night but seemed to be enjoying themselves. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Avoid if you can"
I didn't expect much from this kind of hotel. But it was terrible. Cigarette burn holes in sheets. Hairs on towels. Mold on the shower floor. Broken lights int the bathroom that they wouldn't replace. Big hole in the ceiling. The location was the only upside to that stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Pillows were lumpy, linens were stained, door locks were broken, had to change room 3 times, had to report kids running around and screaming at 10-11PM at night. I did not feel safe at all- I was given a key to a already occupied room and was told they weren't in the system, so I feared that someone could be given my key and enter my room and why were […] customers in rooms that weren't paid, I want a free room too, it's only fair! Also, Expedia's prices were higher than if I booked it that day, according to the staff. I will never deal with Expedia over this nor ever go to another Rodeway! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice location, the suite had a nice layout."
Overall it was ok. I waited until the last minute for Homecoming. .. procrastination on my part. This was the only one with a room available. The only main thing I didn't like was the wall socket in the bathroom area did not work at all. I was scared to open the fridge and use the microwave. First night was misarable. We got into town late. We had two rooms. The one room had a horible smell. When we pulled up to the hotel, a crime scene investigative vehicle was there along with several law enforcement agents. If we could have gotten another hotel, we would have. Ok, I was stuck. Big holiday weekend (Labor Day), big football weekend (East Carolina against Old Dominion Univeristy), and I waited just a tad too long to book my hotel accommodations. I paid $120 for a hotel room that would normally go for about $40? Bed spread was disgusting, room not cleaned OR well maintained at all. Bathroom door didn't even close. Nothing in the picture is what you get. The tv was a small tube tv from the early 90s no remote it was so small I had to sit on edge of the bed to watch. Was no dining table or chairs so had to eat on bed. Lights didnt work had to use bathroom area light to see. No microwave, coffee pot or mini fridge, not even plastic cups. Facts: Rooms were beat up, the TV was circa 1990, barely enough outlets to charge my phone and computer, the bathroom was not clean, the towels were nothing short of 220 grit sandpaper and I felt lucky to have a bar of soap to use. How this Hotel got a rating of 3 out of 5 is beyond me, should be more like a 1.5 out of 5.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel in downtown Greenville."
Was looking for a hotel in downtown Greenville and this place was great. Clean rooms and present staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
AC did not cool and made noise all night, no microwave, no coffee maker, spiders everywhere. The only plus points are the location and price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Located near my daughter and son-in-law's home."
The room was notably clean and the bedding equally so. Two of the lamps didn't work, but there was sufficient light from other sources to meet my need. I was grateful for the cleanliness and the quiet. Temperature adjustments worked very well. "You definitely get what you pay for."
I was not expecting the hotel or room to be fancy since I wasn't paying much for the room, but I did expect a bit more than I got. When I first opened the door to the room, I saw the interior portion of the door handle on the floor. Not a great start. The room was spacious and clean. It looked as if the carpet and flooring in the bathroom had been […] replaced. The bed looked new as well. The comforter was hideous and looked like a child's comforter from the 1980s (it had drawings of the Motel 6 sign, a city skyline, pickup truck, a bear, cactus, a man fishing, etc). The comforter and the ratty blanket below it had some holes in them. The worst part of my hotel stay though was a clogged sink. I mentioned it to the manager on duty the morning of my second day there, and he said that he would have maintenance take a look at it. When I returned to the room that evening, the sink was still clogged. There is nothing like trying to brush your teeth with water rising in the sink -- gross. The sliding curtains did not cover the entire window, so someone could peek in if they really wanted to do so. The last negative about the room is that the A/C unit barely worked and the grate that is supposed to be on the front of the unit (where the air blows out) was missing. Positives -- the room was pretty clean, the bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I came into town to for a weekend to visit my family. Our first room we stayed in had ants in it. The second room they moved us to the comforters smell like Urine and the room smelled like mildew. I was very very disappointed in my stay there. I would never ever refer anybody to them again nor would I ever bring my family there again. In our second room the bathroom was not even cleaned it head dirt and scuff marks all over the side of the tub and inside the tub I had to physically clean the bathroom in both rooms before I could give my children I bet very unacceptable

I came to Greenville to visit ecu because I am planning on being a professor there and I came across the roadway inn on the choice hotels group website and overall I had a good time, they made the check in process easy and the staff was very friendly I checked on trying to get opinions on restaurants in the area the staff was very helpful I room was nice and clean especially if you get a suite ...... I've stayed at several econolodges at the past and this was way past satisfying it even had an ihome dock for my iPhone. I also have to visit Havelock next to visit my son in the base.
"Horrible, dangerous, dirty: we left immediately"
02/15/14 SjKal Carlisle, Pennsylvania
We booked this as "Choice" members because we were traveling with our dog and we were not expecting 4 stars but a clean place to sleep on a road trip. It was dirty including the toilet and a sticky bathroom floor. In the 15 minutes it took to check in and the decide to leave we saw all sorts of sketchy things. People coming and going like it was a convenient store, others just sitting in cars and more loitering around. We did not feel our vehicle would be safe in the parking lot. This place is BAD news. I am shocked that Choice Hotels would offer it - we are seriously thinking about dropping the Choice hotels over this horrible experience. As frequent long distance travelers we have stayed in plenty of low cost but decent motels, this was not one of them.
"one night layover"
02/08/14 Daniel M Lenoir, North Carolina, United States
I needed a place to stay for an early meeting within 30 minutes of Greenville. Online reservation was no problem through choice hotels. It is an older facility, but was clean and bug free. I had a good nights sleep and was ready to go the next morning. They have only coffee in the desk area in the morning, but there were several chain eateries within sight from the parking lot.
"Dirty, Dark, and Scary!"
Well, I booked this hotel only because it was the only hotel showing a room available at the time in the date selected. First, let me say that the room pictured on this page looks NOTHING like what you get! No flat screen TV, not well lit, broken lamps, old furniture and darkly painted rooms. The decor and everything about this place spells DRUGS, HOOKERS, LOW RENT and DESPERATE. The price for this room was also jacked up to a price not even close to the quality you would expect at an average price. Thw linens had hair on them, wrinkled sheets, awful towels, and dirty parking lot. We checked in thinking well, how bad can it really be? We went to dinner and came back nearing dark and saw all the unquestionable and savory characters rolling into this eatablisent, hanging out in the balconies drinking, smoking and looking like a place inviting crime to come here. No security, not well lit and just horrible. Sure, renovated from a MOTEL 6? Okay, ugly dark carpet and ugly darkly painted rooms with no fridge, no microwave, one bat of cheap soap, no other toiletries with broken furniture and scratched up furniture, showers and toilets. Rodeway should be ashamed of this and EXPEDIA should not list this place on their website. Do NOT go to this place! We left without getting a refund and found a wonderful place to stay that was clean, safe, well lit and not much more than this dump.
"For a funeral"
05/11/13 Helen R Alexandria, Virginia
I just recently stayed at this hotel and it was the worse experience I have ever had. I booked this hotel thru hotels .com and it was the only one in the city that had rooms and I was in the city for a funeral. I booked two rooms and was charged $150 per room. I knew it was a lot of money but I had no choice. When we checked into the rooms I was horrified at what we had gotten. It was so dirty you were almost afraid to touch anything, the curtains would not go all across the windows so people could look right in,I ask for tape but never got any. The bathtub was so filthy you wouldn't dare step in it, a electric fixture in the bath was hanging out of the ceiling. The sink would not drain and no mattress covers on bed.terrible looking people hanging around. I took pictures and plan to send them to The Mayor, health department and everyone else I can. I slept with my clothes on and it would have been nice to have been able to brush my teeth. Do not stay here and I plan to contact Choice Hotels also. I have traveled all over the world and this was the pits. They would not even consider giving me a refund and I cannot believe they could keep a straight face and tell me that.DO NOT STAY HERE

"Lots of folks walking around at night"
01/19/13 Kathy B Virginia Beach, Virginia
My husband and I stayed at this motel because our friends booked it for us. It was very convenient to where we wanted to go there just wasn't much around the motel. We traveled with our dog. During the night and the early morning hours the next day, my husband took our dog outside and there were quite a few people just loitering around the premises, leaning up against doors and buildings. It made him and the dog uncomfortable. The room itself was just average. The beds were not queen size, the bathroom was very small and cramped. - but it's a Motel 6. I don't guess we could have expected otherwise. Don't expect much besides a bed to sleep in and a place to shower. The room was basically clean, but not fresh-smelling clean. Actually, I kind of wondered when was the last time the bedspreads had been laundered. I mention our dog for one reason. We spent one night at the motel. She started scratching the next day. By the time we got home that night, she had a full-blown skin infection. I'm not saying the motel or its premises had anything to do with the skin infection, but to me it seemed to be a bit too much of a coincidence. If we had to go back, we'd probably stay there again but not with our dog. Personally, I think I'd save up a bit more money and upgrade to a hotel/motel with a little bit more to offer.

I came to visit a friend and needed a pet friendly, inexpensive motel. The moment I got out of my car to check in I was accosted by a resident. I had made my reservation on line and requested a non-smoking room but the first room s-t-u-n-k of smoke. So I was transferred to another room. When I was finally able to get into that room (after two more trips to the front desk) it also smelled strongly of smoke and there were cigarette ashes all along the "head rail" of the bed. At that point I was done and requested a refund. Miranda, at the front desk, was the only bright spot in this whole misadventure. She was friendly, professional and accommodating. Miranda, you are way too good for that dump! After this experience I will never stay in a Motel 6, no matter which one. So, they can leave the light on for me but they will just be wasting energy!
"This place should be on a reality show"
06/27/12 flex68 Virginia
This review highlights several negatives , as there are no positives… My wife and I stayed here for two nights, only because the folks we were running around Gville with had already checked in here. I had stayed at this location, alone, about a year earlier, and was far from impressed; we usually stay at the Quality Inn on Memorial Drive: it offers numerous amenities that the Motel 6 does not, and for only about $10 more per night. (Daily maid service, fridge, microwave, iron and ironing board, and a great breakfast. THAT motel I highly recommend!) The first thing my wife said when we walked into the room was, “This room smells funny!” And it was not a funny-good smell. It was a combination of stale cigarette smoke (in a supposedly non-smoking room) coupled with something else. As soon as I stepped over to turn the AC on (in bare feet) I told her why it stank: the carpet felt NASTY, in general, and was obviously in need of a deep cleaning…but the whole area around the AC unit was very wet. Improper drainage had apparently caused it to drain condensation back into the room, and created a musty odor. Unfortunately, the unit also was barely operational, and the room finally cooled down to a comfortable level about the time we awoke the next morning…long, hot night of little sleep. The room had two beds, and I first chose the one nearest the AC. When I turned down the covers, there was a notable amount of hair and “stuff” lying on the bottom sheet. I honestly believe that this bed had been used and remade without the linen being washed. (The other was clean, and we had no clue how poorly the AC would perform, or we would have demanded another room) We were gone all day, returning after 5PM only to find that the beds had not been made, nor were any clean towels left. My wife went to the front desk, where she was responded to very rudely by the woman working there. She told my wife that she would have to check to see if our room was “scheduled” for service. (WHAT??!!) When my wife asked what that meant, the woman stated, “There is a notice in every room that we only provide maid service every other day.” (WHAT??!!) [There was no such “notice” posted anywhere in our room] LOUD place! Not simply loud/inconsiderate neighbors---- although that was certainly true---- but just constant activity: cars pulling through the parking lot at all hours of the night, and frequent comings-and-goings on the second floor. I certainly don’t know what the reasons might have been for this, but it clearly reminded me of the ‘red light district’ motels in Germany from when I was stationed there, that specialized in 1-hour room rentals… ‘nuff said. I wouldn’t recommend this location to ANYONE, not even a group of folks just chipping in a few bucks each for a place to party and crash. It is run-down, nasty, and ---- to use a word my teenage kids would toss out---- “sketchy.” I am ex-military, so I have stayed in lots of places “on the cheap” and have seen lots of things, but there were folks hanging-out here that raised my “situational awareness” level up a few notches. My wife is a good sport, but I definitely owe her an apology for this experience! Management can profess that they are “remodeling” if they wish… that in no way excuses the above! [And I didn’t see any indication of any remodeling going on over the two days we were there, anyway: no workers, no vehicles, no equipment, nothing! In fact, I never saw a single motel worker besides the front desk employees, not even a single maid cart, and definitely no security] In short, stay elsewhere: there are other inexpensive motels nearby that offer the traveler far more for the same amount of $$
