"Surprised at the decency of the room."
The parking situation is weird but once in the room the carpet was new , it had the white double sheets bedding and decent linens, the bathroom was updated and clean, and everything was in good repair. I was comfortable letting my baby play on the floor. No continental breakfast but for the price I didn't expect it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just right accomodations for a weekend."
I got the last available hotel room in Missoula it seemed and the hotel staff here were very friendly and accomodating. We just stayed one night and it was a nice clean older hotel/motel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"good location, not very clean"
The hotel location was great, walking distance to everything. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was not clean. I found old food on the carpet near the bed and stains on the carpet and blankets. We removed the blankets as they were both obviously not clean and had holes in them. The walls were also pretty thin b/c it was very noisy throughout […] the night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
great location, but not the cleanest or maybe it was clean but just needed to be updated. i felt safe and comfortable, which is the most important but the hotel was pretty old looking in the rooms. staff very friendly quick walk downtown and a modest breakfast was available.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean room in middle of city"
The Mountain Valley Inn was a good choice, as I wanted to be right downtown Missoula. The office staff was very courteous and efficient. No doubt, the establishment has seen brighter days, but it is a good, clean, economical spot to stay in this part of Montana.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not outstanding, but servicable"
Not a bad hotel (I've seen worse), but certainly not the best. No real amenities, breakfast was sparse at best. Good location, but the hotel is dated, and not the best of shape. They try hard, but there are better values out there for your money.
Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Best cheap bed in downtown"
04/10/14 burbine montana
We've stayed at a bunch of the cheap motels in downtown over the past few years when visiting missoula. This place is cheap clean and right downtown. Staff we're very friendly. Sure it's not super updated but for the money you can't find a better option. We'll stay here again!
"Extremely Run Down"
03/07/14 J-nae-MT Glacier National Park, Montana
I stayed here over 10 years ago with a good experience, but all has declined since then! The elevator ride gave the first impression of how run down and dirty the place has become. Our hallway to the room reeked of cigarette smoke and urine. In the room the carpets were stained, the walls had holes in them and the blankets & sheets had yellow spots on them. I was disappointed to spend $90 for a night in this terrible establishment and will not return. One positive note, the front desk staff at check-in was pleasant & accommodating.
"A good place for lots of activities"

I stayed here because I wanted a change of place (normally stay at another property in Misoula). I think from now on this will be my go-to place. The property is well-maintained (although a few minor cosmetic issues) and has a great front desk staff. They were friendly and professional, also were well informed about the local area. The motel is in a great location - easy walking from downtown with awesome eateries and bars. From being in and out of Missoula over the yrs, this property has gone through many changes and this entity is by far the best one.
"Time to Move On"
08/18/13 Paul M Spokane, Washington
Okay,I have been staying at this location going on 15 years and through a number of name changes. It has been a perfect staging place for fishing trips in western Montana – not elegant, but always clean and accommodating. After my last trip, however, it is time to move on and not return. Despite advertising a continental breakfast, there isn't one anymore. Housekeeping was truly abysmal failing to even emptied the garbage or provide new plastic cups until I requested assistance. Oddly, the request was viewed (seemingly) like some high maintenance issue. We were there three nights. The first night the front office was vacant because the "night manager" was comparing the difference between Medicare and Medicaid benefits back in the smoking area with a forlorn looking guy who looked like a weekly or monthly guest. While this was going on, a street person kept walking into the front desk area and taking coffee. My fishing partner and I were having a cigar in the parking lot. The street person became more and more agitated as he stared at us and swore at us. We determined to return to our room. The next night there were a group of people barbecuing on a small barbecue in the smoking area. All of them were noticeably intoxicated, loud and confrontational, and it seemed clear, or at least arguable, that they were not guests of the hotel. Again, the "night manager" was completely disengaged and seemingly absent. While I hope my experience was an abomination far from the norm, I am not going back to find out.
""Best Value" seems fair"

This is not a luxury hotel by any means but for the price and location, it seems extremely good value. It's a rather rundown motel that they are in the process of renovating, but for my dollar they've focused on the right things first. The beds are large and comfortable with all clean white bedding (no nasty stained comforters). There is free wifi with a strong signal. There is free parking and the rooms have a surprisingly large number of amenities. Our room included a balcony with chairs, armchairs, a desk, iron & ironing board, fridge, hairdryer, coffee/cups and even several bathroom amenities such as a razor and toothpaste. One downside was the rather rough customer service both on the phone and in person. However, we were able to check-in early despite them being full and had no real problems. The rollaway bed we requested was delivered as promised and was robust and comfortable. There is no breakfast at the hotel, but it's a short walk to many restaurants and bars downtown. Overall, highly recommended.

We stayed here on our way to Glacier National Park. We didn't want to spend a lot of money. We picked this motel out of the local brochures. It was relatively cheap. When we arrived to check-in we almost kept driving. It was old and didn't appear to be in the best area. We went ahead and decided to give it a try. Room was not the cleanest, walls and décor needed some attention. It looked old and neglected. But the bed was comfortable and most things functioned as they should. It wasn't hard to hear people talking in the next room. While certainly not luxurious it did serve the purpose.
"Website says 3:00 check in but front desk says 4:00"
We stayed at this hotel for the Missoula Marathon and were disappointed. We tried to check in at 12:30 and were told there would be no early check-in and they were short staffed so it might be as late as 4. We double checked website and it said check-in was 3 so we found some ways to occupy ourselves and tried again at 3. We were told that it was 2:53 and that there was no way we would be checking in until at least 4, no apologies, no politeness. Just rudeness. So we ventured back out once again to occupy ourselves. Came back at 4 and were able to check-in. We figured since they had made us check in late they would afford us a late check-out the next morning. The same lady was at the front desk and when we went to ask for a late check-out she agreed to let us check out one hour late and then proceeded to lecture us about how full they were and everybody was checking out late due to the marathon. We didn't care that the hotel was full or that they were short staffed on one of their biggest weekends of the year. We did care that we were treated as an inconvenience, were never apologized to, barely allowed any accommodations for our inconvenience and on top of it all, the rooms are only fair to poor. We won't be back.
"Conditional Yes, Good Location and Good Value Only if using coupon"
06/02/13 DGeig Atlantic City, New Jersey
Important Note- Found place in the Hotel Discount flyer distributed at rest areas. Very inexpensive using coupon (it amounted to almost a 50% discount). Would probably not stay here if no coupon and needed to pay usual rate. Now that I chose to stay here (based on location and discounted price), here is review. Facility generally clean, but not spiffy. It is a somehwat older / dated facility. Acceptably Maintained, but not exceptionally so. Other reviewers noted marks and damage to ugly / outdated wallpaper- accusation confirmed. Same with flooring. Bathroom fair sized and clean, but dated and in marginal condition. Regular TV (not flatscreen or HDTV). No upgraded cable HBO, Showtime etc. Internet absolutley horrible speed + censorship filters. Beds comfortable and reasonably new, but nothing exceptional... just acceptable. Room size = pretty good. Refrigerator & Microwave Towels + Bed Linens pretty good. Their regular rate is not in line with what you get. Using coupon place is alright, but in no way special. TA "Best Value" Hotels in Missoula are better, minus location and minus coupon. If you want downtown location and have coupon, this place is decent choice.
"Best Value - Yep!"

So its cheapish and the room looked a bit tired with paint flaking from walls. However the new bed was firm and comfortable, pillows nice and soft, temperature controls worked and the shower was hot and had great water pressure. I reckon it was a good choice.
"Learning from my mistake"
05/07/13 xshodan Mukilteo, Washington
I should be glad I stayed here because it helped me to clarify those things I look for and appreciate in a hotel by providing almost none of them. It is obvious that they are trying to establish themselves in the "extended-stay" catagory. They have done this by trying to cram in features that typical extended stay properties feature. They advertise a fitness room. In fact, it is a room, off of the reception area, that is extremely small and has only two treadmill style machines packed next to each other. My room was small to begin with, made smaller by the requiste king bed. The ceiling was chipped and there were patches on the walls. A small refrigerator was on the floor under the micro-wave and required me to get on my hands and knees to use. Small things: No pen. No non-skid mat for a slippery, small shower/tub. Quirky small TV. Slow Wi-Fi with intermittent internet connection. Cover missing on faucet. Continental breakfast consisted of coffee and a Quaker breakfast bar. I would give this place a "one" except it did provide the one essential I need from a hotel/motel: A good night's sleep. The bed was comfortable, the "black out" curtains worked and it was quiet. But I really expect more than that for the money. This is a 60's motel with pretentions. There are many more options that are a much better value. Missoula deserves better, it is a great place.
