Thick mattresses and down comforters - so comfortable after a long drive. Thank you!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Location was great, staff was very nice, room was outdated. Good stay, terrible price though. Way over priced for the state of roomGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is downtown, within walking distance of food. Had a fridge, no in-room coffee, but a gourmet coffee place is next door. Bed was lumpy but better than really stiff beds I'm used to when traveling. Under-hotel parking, no 1st floor, but has an elevator that works, though sporadically. Room was clean and reasonably spacious with a balcony. Main issue: […] other tenants. Low-income type people with children, bikes on balconies, school bus pick-up for kids in morning. Somewhat noisy in hallways, with "characters" lurking about in parking lot. Can't verify for a fact that hotel is housing homeless people for city of Missoula, but sure looked it to me. No problems to report that way, but normally we stay away from places that do this. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
For the price it was adequate. Nothing spectacular. Exterior was outdated and rundown but the room was better quality. Bed and shower was good. Those are the most important things I need on the road.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Have stayed at this hotel in past approx. two dozen times. It seems to have become 'party central' recently, with loud guests in and out of rooms and hanging out in parking lot. Rooms are looking in need of new paint, new carpeting. Coffeemaker in room did not work properly so had to go to reception for fresh coffee. Breakfast offered in past is no […] longer available. On plus side, staff was very good to deal with. Price is reasonable, and a very good location on river and close to downtown. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Surprised at the decency of the room."
The parking situation is weird but once in the room the carpet was new , it had the white double sheets bedding and decent linens, the bathroom was updated and clean, and everything was in good repair. I was comfortable letting my baby play on the floor. No continental breakfast but for the price I didn't expect it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just right accomodations for a weekend."
I got the last available hotel room in Missoula it seemed and the hotel staff here were very friendly and accomodating. We just stayed one night and it was a nice clean older hotel/motel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"good location, not very clean"
The hotel location was great, walking distance to everything. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was not clean. I found old food on the carpet near the bed and stains on the carpet and blankets. We removed the blankets as they were both obviously not clean and had holes in them. The walls were also pretty thin b/c it was very noisy throughout […] the night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
great location, but not the cleanest or maybe it was clean but just needed to be updated. i felt safe and comfortable, which is the most important but the hotel was pretty old looking in the rooms. staff very friendly quick walk downtown and a modest breakfast was available.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean room in middle of city"
The Mountain Valley Inn was a good choice, as I wanted to be right downtown Missoula. The office staff was very courteous and efficient. No doubt, the establishment has seen brighter days, but it is a good, clean, economical spot to stay in this part of Montana.Genuine Expedia guest review
Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This place has gone to hell. I have stayed here occasionally over the years when I had business in downtown Missoula. It is convenient, just off Orange on Broadway. But it has deteriorated the past couple of years, and it seems to be getting worse fast. The premises are dirty, the sheets were not clean, the TV did not work, and the staff are cheerfully oblivious to the problems guests may encounter. And the prices are far from cheap. New owners? God bless them. They have much work to do. For now, you would do as well to sleep in the back of your pickup camper in the parking lot--about the same level of services, and at a greatly reduced price.

The shower floor was black and yucky pink stuff all along the outer edges. The carpet was sooooo gross! There was also no alarm clock and the lock for the sliding glass door was broke. Definitely will NOT stay here again.

Recently I stopped in Missoula, MT. I couldn't find a motel out on the interstate. I found an Americas Best in town. I was worried. I just had a preconceived idea that they were not very good quality. I found the motel with no trouble. The area was not the best, but there was a hospital next door and a Catholic Church behind. Went to check in and the lobby was small. The clerk was learning her job and the manager was helping her. I asked if they took pets and was told they would take 1 dog. I said mine were used to traveling and very well behaved. They are. We got accepted. I found the hallways to be very dark and the carpeting stained. It seemed not to bode well for the room. I would have not stayed if the room was not as good. I was surprised. The room was great! The bed was comfortable. The motel was very quiet. There were no "scary characters" hanging around. I took the dogs for a walk downtown and felt safe. Restaurants nearby and a coffee shop next door. I would stay here again.
"not the value we were looking for"

I was looking for an affordable, clean place to stay in the downtown area. The common areas, like the stairway and hallways were dirty and stained. When we got to the room, the key cards would not work. The new ones they gave us took an unreasonable number of tries, but eventually worked, though there was obviously something wrong with their system. In our room, the bathroom and carpet appeared to be cleaned and vacuumed, but damage to the walls and what I assume to be permanent stains on the carpet made it feel dirty. Several of the towels had marks on them, which, even if they had been laundered with bleach, borders on unacceptable. All of the furniture, with the exception of one chair, looked like it was salvaged from a house destroyed in a hurricane. The mattresses weren't bad, but I avoided examining the sheets after noticing the stains on the towels. Overall, it looked and felt dirty, was outdated and in need a major update, and the lock was extremely annoying, but the room served its purpose

The carpet in my room was dirty (looked like blood stains). Staff not very friendly, used coffee pod in coffee maker, dirty cup stacked on top of clean ones, not a full set of towels..... inexpensive, though. The other room my family had seemed ok. Beds were VERY comfy, however.
"Cheap decent inn"

Stayed for a night, no problems. The neighborhood felt a bit shady, but we had no trouble. Price was very low and the room kinda run-down, but clean and adequately equipped. Location is great, close to interstate exit and downtown. There's no breakfast, but there are multiple good cafes near by. Recommended if you just want a cheap place to sleep.
"Best cheap bed in downtown"

We've stayed at a bunch of the cheap motels in downtown over the past few years when visiting missoula. This place is cheap clean and right downtown. Staff we're very friendly. Sure it's not super updated but for the money you can't find a better option. We'll stay here again!
"Extremely Run Down"
03/07/14 J-nae-MT Glacier National Park, Montana
I stayed here over 10 years ago with a good experience, but all has declined since then! The elevator ride gave the first impression of how run down and dirty the place has become. Our hallway to the room reeked of cigarette smoke and urine. In the room the carpets were stained, the walls had holes in them and the blankets & sheets had yellow spots on them. I was disappointed to spend $90 for a night in this terrible establishment and will not return. One positive note, the front desk staff at check-in was pleasant & accommodating.
"A good place for lots of activities"

I stayed here because I wanted a change of place (normally stay at another property in Misoula). I think from now on this will be my go-to place. The property is well-maintained (although a few minor cosmetic issues) and has a great front desk staff. They were friendly and professional, also were well informed about the local area. The motel is in a great location - easy walking from downtown with awesome eateries and bars. From being in and out of Missoula over the yrs, this property has gone through many changes and this entity is by far the best one.
"Time to Move On"
08/18/13 Paul M Spokane, Washington
Okay,I have been staying at this location going on 15 years and through a number of name changes. It has been a perfect staging place for fishing trips in western Montana – not elegant, but always clean and accommodating. After my last trip, however, it is time to move on and not return. Despite advertising a continental breakfast, there isn't one anymore. Housekeeping was truly abysmal failing to even emptied the garbage or provide new plastic cups until I requested assistance. Oddly, the request was viewed (seemingly) like some high maintenance issue. We were there three nights. The first night the front office was vacant because the "night manager" was comparing the difference between Medicare and Medicaid benefits back in the smoking area with a forlorn looking guy who looked like a weekly or monthly guest. While this was going on, a street person kept walking into the front desk area and taking coffee. My fishing partner and I were having a cigar in the parking lot. The street person became more and more agitated as he stared at us and swore at us. We determined to return to our room. The next night there were a group of people barbecuing on a small barbecue in the smoking area. All of them were noticeably intoxicated, loud and confrontational, and it seemed clear, or at least arguable, that they were not guests of the hotel. Again, the "night manager" was completely disengaged and seemingly absent. While I hope my experience was an abomination far from the norm, I am not going back to find out.
