"The New Yoker Hotel in New York"Reviewed by Tomas of "Sweden" on Feb 9, 2012
We were very pleased with the hotel and location. the only thing that was negative was when we checked into the hotel. the man at the front desk was very rude.
"Its in midtown close to everything..."Reviewed by Rui of "Ireland" on Feb 9, 2012
The location is great, the rooms are a bit small but very clean and functional, if you're tidy there's room for everything...the little cafe in the lounge is great as well. First i rented a room with shared bathroom and i was a little afraid but actually it was alright, big bathroom, very clean, music on and a great shower! The second time i got a room with a bathroom, they're a bit bigger and very comfortable
"friendliness of staff"Reviewed by Jacqueline of "Brussels, Belgium" on Feb 8, 2012
We spent 4 nights in the Hampton Inn at Chelsea and loved it. The staff is extremely friendly and I did not feel like being in those big hotel chains, though it offered every convienience of them. The room was well equipped, and when I mentioned that I would need a fridge, they brought me one immediately. Breakfast was good . I would certainely go back to this hotel for my next stay in NY.
"Great stay at Grand Union"Reviewed by David of "Ireland" on Feb 8, 2012
The location is excellent, only 2 blocks from the Empire State Building and a 10 minute walk to Times Square. The hotel itself is comfortable, small rooms and clean. The staff are friendly and there's a nice cafe attached (Captain Cafe). I'd definitely recommend Grand Union for your stay in New York.

Let the West Coast have Hollywood; Broadway’s lights are just as bright, and many screen actors come to the Great White Way to gain acting credibility. Area attractions include Carnegie Hall, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and the Museum of Modern Art. Resplendent St. Patrick’s Cathedral takes up a block at Fifth and 50th. "Couldn't ask for anything more"
First trip to NY so wasn't sure where to stay. Friends all have different suggestions and opinions of the best places but found this hotel and based on the location and the price (and all the positive reviews), went ahead and booked. Very satisfied with the hotel, the staff were friendly and although it is older than most hotels, this meant the rooms […] were very large. Room was located to the back of the hotel, away from the street and this was perfect because there was building works going on across the road. Have recommended it numerous times since returning from trip. Read more
"Salisbury Hotel - Great Location"
Great location... breakfast ok ... plastic cups and cutlery but plenty of choice. There are nice places to eat breakfast beside hotel. Rooms are dated as stated and its not a very modern hotel but you pay for what you get. Price reflects great location beside Central Park and 10 minutes from Times Sq. If you are looking for a clean room in a good location […] and value for money.. this ones for you Read more
"The Hotel Salisbury-close to Central Park and shop"
We felt well taken care of by the hotel staff, they upgraded our room without extra cost. They were also very helpful with booking tickets and information etc. The room was big and the beds very comfortable. Some noise from the street below and from building a new Hotel across the street. Perfect situated nearby Central Park and walking distance to […] Rockefeller Center, shops etc. Read more
"Excellent Value"
As stated many times before, the location of this hotel at the price is excellent value and allows many travellers to experience midtown New York without having to pay normal midtown prices while at the same time offering spacious and clean accommodation without the frills. Thank you for a wonderful holiday in New York. We'll be back.

"The Salisbury Hotel- close to all must see sights"
Myself, my husband and 2 adult children stayed in a suite in the Salisbury hotel for 4 nights in July, we had a wonderful time, the hotel was so central and the staff could not do enough to make our stay a memorable one, it was my daughters 18th birthday, I stayed in the Salisbury Hotel 2 years ago with a group of friends and would definately come to […] stay again Read more
"Good Hotel"
Stayed for a couple of nights and enjoyed it here. Room was clean and the location excellent...we really enjoyed being so close to Central Park. Overall I would recommend this hotel, my only concern being the late night noise from the street below.

"Salisbury Hotel - Great base for NYC"
Starting with the Negatives: room could be plastered again to make it look fresher. Shower head loose from wall but not a problem. The area is a bit bland: as in no feel that it's a distinct neighbourhood, but there is a great market on 6th Ave Sunday morning! That's it! for a week or two holiday in NYC I couldn't recommend the hotel highly enough. […] Good price, large room with flat screen TV, Kitchenette was handy for small meals, good bathroom. The location couldn't be much better, half a block away from the N,Q,R downtown/brooklyn line (an express stop) and a half a block away in the other direction an F line station which is great for the Empire state building/ Greenwich village/Soho/Dumbo. The hotel itself is a 10 minute walk to MOMA/Rockefeller Centre/St Patricks Cathedral, Two blocks from Central Park which is a God send on a hot day and across the road froom Carnegie Hall. The staff were very helpful and organised everything that I asked and suggested itenerarys, couldn't speak better of them. The room was kept very clean throughout my stay, and the beds were very comfortable the mattresses were in very good condition, so no complaints there. Read more
"The Salisbury Hotel New York - Fantastic"
My boyfriend and I recently stayed in the Salisbury Hotel. We were a slightly apprehensive as we had booked & paid for this accomodation online and weren't sure of the hotel and we were going on the reviews which we had read. On arrival we were thrilled to find out that we were given a suite which comprised of a kitchenette, living room, large bedroom […] and bathroom. We also had 2 large walk in wardrobes, safety deposit box, ironing board & iron. The character of the room was that of old new york with it decorative features such as old styled lamps which were located all around the suite. The suite was cleaned every day and they always did a fantastic job. All the staff in the hotel were friendly and were always on hand to answer any question we may have had. The hotel's location was superb, it is located 2 blocks from Central Park and approx 15 mins walk from Times Square. We also used the underground to get around manhattan we were lucky to have one located straight across the road from the hotel. All in all we had a fantastic stay and we will definatley be recommending this hotel to all our family and friends. We will also be back to the Salisbury in the near future Read more
"The Salisbury Hotel , New York- great for weekend"
This hotel was fantastic for us, a family of 5. The room was on the 14th floor and huge with one bedroom and a very large living room/kitchen. Accomodation was 2 queen beds in the bedroom with a sofa bed in the living room. We also fit a roll away in there too with still loads of space!! 10 minute walk to Time Square, 5 minutes to Central Park and 2 […] minutes to the nearest subway station. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate from the deli/supermarket across the street as room comes with fridge and microwave. Recommending it to all our friends!!! Read more
"Salisbury Hotel, great quiet location."
We had a very pleasant nine nights in the Salisbury which was reasonably priced. The bedroom was huge and we had a little pantry which had a refrigerator, microwave coffee maker and sink. This was very beneficial as we made our own breakfast and other snacks. The lobby of the hotel was small and shabby giving a bad first impression. The decor in the […] bedroom was rather old fashioned also but that really didn't matter as everything was clean and comfortable. We had two lovely double beds and air conditioning. It was very quiet at night . Breakfast was available for only $6. All in all we highly recommend this hotel. Read more
"Excellent locations, great room"
loved our room, especially for the good price we got. The service wasn't much to talk about tough, sorry to say. Nice, big room, not towards the street, ask for "backyard". Appreciated the fridge bigtime, and the chance to boil coffe and tee in the room. Will stay here again!
"Great Hotel"
Very clean comfortable and the staff are very helpful and courteous. Super convenient to Broadway and Lincoln Center.
"Salisbury Hotel New York - Very recommended"
We have been to New York several times and know the city quite well and also that the Salisbury Hotel is what we wanted due to it's fantastically central location! However in the past we have been a bit dubious because of noise concerns; it is on a busy road and also the aforementioned construction that is going on. The hotel accomodated us at the back […] of the hotel and on a high floor as requested; noise was not a problem at all. If you were to be accomodated at the front of the building then the majority of the noise is during 9-5 anyway so this should not prove too problematic either. Everything else at the hotel could not be faulted. It was clean, tidy, with very helpful staff. The rooms were slightly old fashioned (read as 'not trendy') but they were clean, comfortable and spacious...all that we could ask for after a long day marching around the city! We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel at all and will certainly return. Read more
"Salisbury Hotel is a safe bet"
Granted, the rooms are dated and a little shabby... but they are spotless and surprisingly roomy. Beds were comfortable (bed-bug free!). Staff were friendly, helpful... and the location can't be beat! I'd book again.

"Excellent hotel"
The Salisbury is a great hotel in a wonderful location. The room was large and attractive. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was spotlessly clean. I am glad that I stayed there and would certainly do so again.
"Salisbury (Manhattan)"
The hotel decore is old but clean. The size of the rooms is excellent especially compared to some of the newer hotels. The value is very good. The washrooms are small, compared to the size of the rooms. The beds are a bit too hard. The location is excellent. The service is good.
Very reasonable price was purchased through Hotels.com which made me choose this hotel in this location. A plus would be to have a lobby bar or a designated room for bar service.
"Great Referral from a Friend"
We have usually stayed in the heart of the theatre district, the 40's. The Salisbury was a breath of fresh air. We have NEVER stayed in a hotel in NYC that was so spacious. The couple who came with us was visiting NYC for the first time. They were grateful that we picked the hotel. We were able to experience new restaurants in the area, and felt very […] safe everywhere. The Salisbury is now our hotel of choice. The bathrooms could have had more counter space...but you can't have everything. A delightful time, and the staff was super helpful. Read more
"Good location. Friendly service. Spacious rooms."
Just opposite Carnegie Hall, 10 min walk from Times Square and 10 min walk from Met opera and Central park. Very friend staff. The $9 breakfast is reasonable if you want a convenient and healthy meal to start the day with choices of cereal, breads, pastries, fruits etc. The only thing that bothers me is the Internet connection. Paid for Internet in […] room, but only wifi and no LAN cable. The service recognises my notebook by the MAC address and cannot use my iPhone and other devices to connect Internet unless paying again. Need to take the cumbersome notebook to the restaurant or lobby if want to get connected there. Read more
"Salisbury Hotel - NYC"
Stayed here twice before, location is superb, v.close to Central Pk & 15 Mins walk to Times Sq. The decor and condition of the rooms needs some attention, however it is a reasonably priced hotel with good old fashioned thick walls and generous sized rooms so it does not detract too much from your stay (as long as you bear this in mind before you arrive). […] Downside is that the whole building is way too hot!! We were there in Jan and it was still unbearable to come in from the cold into such heat. The same went for our room and it took a couple of days to get valves changed on radiators so we could turn them off. Open windows and A/C in January in New York !!?? If you can then get a suite, its great, got separate living room with tons of space, well worth the extra money. Staff v.friendly. Better than a faceless chain hotel. Decent value for money. "Hotel Salisbury"
Great location - central to everything, subway around the corner, nothing to far walk away. Hotel staff where very helpful (with directions and suggestions etc) and polite. The hotel is a little older than some in NY, however it is well maintained and the bedrooms and adjoining rooms are very spacious, which is great if you staying for a while and like […] to be able to spread out and make yourself comfortable. Good security on front door etc. Would certainly stay there again. Read more

"Fourth stay -- and still loving it!"
We arrived for a 3-day stay and had a great room. I don't know if we were upgraded, but we got a corporate BR and it was great. We found new things about the neighborhood, although we had stayed here before. Aside from Carnegie Hall being across the street and Central Park just 2 blocks north we found a great grocery store a block away, Steinway Hall […] next door and a favorite breakfast restaurant just around the corner (La Pariesienne). Incidentally, tons of people go to this little restaurant and the owners/staff are most cordial. Anyhow, re the room: they have a fridge in the room (no honor bar), so you can bring in some stuff (i.e., beer, cokes, snacks, etc. They also have a microwave for whatever you want and coffee ready to brew. Ice down on the main floor so you don't have to call room service. The staff is outstanding; very helpful (even giving us change for the bus), getting cabs, etc. I can't say enough about this hotel, although I don't want to say too much so that it gets overcrowded! "Nice Visit to Salisbury"
I have stayed at the Salisbury many times and have always enjoyed my stay. The location is unbeatable...very convenient. The rooms are very large and very comfortable. I stayed in a suite and there were a huge flat-screen televisions in both rooms. The staff is friendly and helpful. I had one complaint on my last trip...they only have 2 elevators and […] one of them didn't work during my entire 5 day stay. The hotel has many floors and, with only one elevator to service them all, it was a nightmare. I waited an extremely long time and, in some cases actually walked up or down 7 flights of stairs rather than continue waiting. Still, I strongly recommend the hotel. Read more
Great location. Great service.
"Salisbury Hotel"
This hotel has a heritage listing. Nice foyer and the staff were friendly and helpful whenever we had a question. Free continental breakfast helped take the edge off the hunger pains in the morning, nothing fancy but fresh. The room we had was a suite and it met our expectations, as had a kitchen with full size appliances. The only downfall we could […] see with this hotel is that it situated on a corner and there must be a fire station nearby. The sirens were loud and all the engines seemed to come past the hotel and turn down the street next to the hotel. We stayed in winter and the windows were closed as the rooms were centrally heated, in summer it may be even noisier as there doesn't seem to be air conditioning in the rooms, a fan is supplied in the wardrobe! Overall the location of the hotel was good and the proximity of a number of restaurants and bars too. Coin op laundry across the street as well. Overall a good stay. Read more
"Not perfect, but a pretty good deal"
This hotel needs a lot of work, but mostly in the public areas. The room was nice, in pretty good shape, and for $10 per day more than my freind paid for a similar hotel, the room was much larger, and yes, more comfortable than the room that was $10 cheaper. Elevators are a problem. Not nearly enough to shuttle the number the hotel holds, and it seems […] to be pretty full, from the lengthy waits to use the elevator. Plan extra time when leaving your room, for a delay. Hotel staff was a hard working group, who I witnessed with examples of helping people coming in, beyond the call of normal desk clerks. They seem to care about their customers experience, at least as it pertains to their behavior, and it helps to make up for the construction zone, or lack of it, type of atmosphere in the lobby. I wasn't there long enough to make a judgement about the management's attitude, but it speaks well of them, that their employees are professionals, giving their best efforts to the hotel's guests. It's across from Carnagie Hall, which may be of particular interest to some. Read more

"Salisbury Hotel in New York close to Broadway"
Having a bedroom plus a living room in the suite made our stay in New York very enjoyable. I plan to stay at this hotel the next time I'm in New York. The hotel is not new, but was very comfortable and convenient.
"Avoid the holiday season at The Salisbury"
We overpaid for a room that usually goes for half the amount out of the busy holiday season. The hotel was loaded with large tour groups that clogged the one working elevator. Otherwise, the hotel was fine and is in a great location.
"Great location"
For the price, considering New York is as expensive a city can get, this hotel is great. The location is excellent. The hotel itself is rather basic, but the room was clean, and all staff were fine. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a room just for sleeping, and take advantage of the location for seeing the city.

"SALISBURY HOTEL"
HOTEL IS REASONABLY PRICED AND WITHIN EASY WALKING DISTANCE OF THEATRES AND RESTAURANTS
My husband and I spent two days celebrating our 41st Wedding Anniversay and stayed at the Salisbury Hotel. The location is fabulous. The only problem was the construction across the street that became VERY loud at times.
"Perfect for a weekend away"
Great price and great location. We stayed 2 nights and had a mini-suite. It was perfect since our visit was partial business and partial pleasure. I'd go back in a second.
"Salisbury Hotel NYC"
Very very old hotel but very very clean. No complaints other than it being out of date. There was some noise during the night from another room but no different from other hotels.
"Waiting and Waiting and Waiting"
Staff is nice, took us to our room with our bags, Elevator was broken, so it took forever to use the one functioning elevator which covered (8 floors). Upon checkout, it took us forever to check our bags in while we shopped around before our departure. They only had 2 bell boys dealing with luggage and many people were complaining. Hotel was old and […] kind of smelled funny. Mattress was very firm. Also, NONE of the hotel rooms had sprinkler systems in them (only in hallways, etc). Only perk was that it was close to everything. Read more
"Great, friendly service"
This hotel was a nice place to stay and not as exorbitantly priced as most others were, given I went with a friend soon after the New Year (1/3-1/5/12). The frontdesk were very polite and knowledgeable when I called to ask where certain restaurants/exhibits were located and which subways to take. Most importantly, I left behind a dress in my room and […] was impressed that they mailed it back at no extra charge. I had a 2 twin-bed and the room was not large, but comfortable. The only two inconveniences: no free breakfast and no free Wi-fi. Read more
