"Good hotel for the price in downtown"
No frills, but a great place to stay for the night if you want to be in the heart of downtown without paying an arm and a leg.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fairly good hotel for affordable price."
The room was clean and comfortable, somewhat small though. There's no breakfast and you have to pay for parking, which are mentioned on Expedia and the website, however. Those are the only downsides.Genuine Expedia guest review
Clean, nice enough for the price. I felt a little unsafe with the doors being outside, rather than in a hall and the night person behind a window for his own safety. But it was near where I needed to be and a good value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms are pretty sparse but you can't beat the location for the price. Most of the other hotels in the area run more than two hundred dollars a night. The hotel is just two blocks from 4th Street and a couple more from museum row. I read other reviews that stated the neighborhood was bad, but if you have ever been out of the suburbs, you won't think […] it is sketchy. I felt perfectly safe. I will be back! Hotel was alright for the money. Definitely nothing special, but the location was great and we were only there to sleep. For the money, it was fine. Just expect a low cost motel for your money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location was excellent"
My room had yet to be cleaned when I checked in at 5 PM and there was left over food in the fridge from the guests who had stayed there before. The workers at Papa John's will ask you to move your car so that they can park closer to get their deliveries; they have their own parking spaces about 30 ft away... It was a decent place to sleep, but the convience […] of being able to walk downtown made it bearable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Average Hotel, Great Location"
This is the best deal in downtown Louisville. It isn't the best hotel, that's for sure, but when the other places are charging $200+ a night, The Econo Lodge is the best option when you just need a place to sleep in downtown.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Better than expected"
Judging from other reviews, we thought this was going to be a rough stay that happened to be very close to 4th Street Live. However, we were pleasantly surprised. It appeared as though the hotel had recently been renovated. The rooms looked like they were repainted, the furniture was cheap but new and relatively nice. There was a cigarette hole burned […] into the comforter, but all things considered, not bad at all. Would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great price and location for downtown Louisville."
It was a cheap rate and near the downtown scene - close to the convention center and 4th street live area. The continental breakfast was a bit lacking and some of the staff were aloof, but overall, the location and price couldn't be beat. The only issue I had with the room was the heater/air conditioning unit, which gave a loud blast of air even at […] the "low" setting. Other than that, everything else was fine. Regarding the surroundings, the neighbors seemed sketchy, and there were a few loud party animals, but there weren't any real problems for me. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location and a good deal for the price"
My only real complaint was that there were two light bulbs out and they didn't have any replacements at the front desk. Or more likely, they were too lazy to go look for them. Breakfast was pretty limited to. But otherwise, a good place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Getting Your Money's Worth"
The room itself wasn't too bad. The entry light fixture was broke and sitting on the TV. The lighting over the bath sink was terribly dark. A flashlight would have provided more light. The morning, continental breakfast left a LOT to be desired. Hard boiled eggs, cold cereal, a few danish, bagels, bread, coffee, juice, and milk. However, room appeared […] clean, although smelly. Definitely had a musky, moldy smell, that you'd expect from an older motel. But, the parking lot was well lit. It was quiet. Very close, walking distance to the Convention Center. Parking was inexpensive compared to other hotels and they had no problems with you using it after check out. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"New Years celebration"
Decent stay for one night. For the price they should be able to provide a more modern room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was what you would expect for an Econolodge. Room was clean and servicable. We slept fine on the king-size bed. Heater stopped working during the night so room was cold in the morning but we didn't stay long enough to care. Breakfast was cold cereal, toast, juice and milk. We stayed here due to early morning meeting at US Customs building on Broadway […] and it worked out wonderfully. We were only in the room to sleep and get ready, so extra amenities were not needed. "Close to Venue- that's about it"
I have to start off by saying that for the price, I did not go into our stay expecting a 5 Star hotel. And for the most part, I was satisfied. Easy check-in, within walking distance to KFC Yum Center, where we were seeing a concert. However, even with the best of rate deals, finding a broken fridge in your room with mold in it is never a good thing. […] Our friends were staying a room over, and their fridge was working perfectly- so apparently it was just us. Also, we had a coffee maker, which was great- however, there was nothing to make in it. Again, had to go to our friend's room. So, aside from the moldy fridge, I wasn't too disappointed with our overnight stay. There's a pizza place in the parking lot, which made for a great late-night food run! Despite the downfalls, I would stay here again- for 12 hours or less. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent budget hotl."
Decent cheap hotel in downtown Louisville. It's nothing great or special, but is also low cost and clean and right next door to much higher priced lodging. If you need a budget hotel near downtown (within walking distance to the YUM! center) I'd recommend this place.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Econo Lodge Downtown Louisville Dear Guest, Thank you for your comments from your recent stay at our hotel. We are happy that you experienced great serivce from our team and aslo the comperative price. We appreciate the endorsement and we look forward to your next visit to Louisville. Best Regards
"You pay for location not quality"
Because of proximity to 4th St Live tho hotel's location is hard to beat. Room was adequate at best. Bedding & furniture was very dated. Toilet & sink had cracks, shower was leaking. I spent as little time as possible in room for my 3 days so being in middle of downtown is true bonus.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"scary and scetchy"
Scary/scetchy. Cigarette Burns in the sheets. Bathroom light didn't work. Scary homeless Guy digging in the hotel dumpsters. Small room. Did not feel comfortable. Room was in a little corner leaving me weary of someone who could hide there. Wish I would have states in the indoor Marriott across the street.Genuine Expedia guest review

"a stay in Louisville"
We had 2 rooms at the Econolodge Downtown Louisville. We brought 5 kids to Louisville for a Dairy Quiz Bowl event to held at the Ketucky Expo Center. When we arrived at the hotel, the counter service was good, and we received our rooms right away. However, one of the rooms had a heater that when it was turned on, smelled like something organic was in […] it. The other heater when it ran sounded like an airplane was going to take off in our room. The outside doors both had light going all the way around it and the locks didn't feel very secure. One of the rooms when you sat on the bed the lights flickered and shut off the alarm clock. We had a meeting that night and told the attendent about these things when we left but nothing was done. It was kind of a scary experience for our kids and because they had to earn the money to take this trip they felt they could have maybe gotten better conditions somewhere else and would have better spent their money. If you are wondering why we stayed anyway it was because we had hoped they would fix those things while we were gone and at 10:00 p.m. when we got back it was too late to move (and of course how would we get our money back?). "No frills, basic room, served its purpose"
We just needed a place to crash after partying it up on Fourth Street. This hotel was an easy walk away (neighborhood looks a bit sketchy, but its downtown Louisville, not a surprise. Can't beat the price. And they serve continental breakfast. Bed was comfy. Fridge & microwave in the room. No frills, but served its purpose. We'd stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, would not stay again though"
I was attending a conference a block away and wanted to save money staying at this hotel. I was nervous about walking to the conference since there were several people wandering around who appeared to be homeless. I was on the first floor and throughout the night (Friday) people were going up and down the steps loudly waking me up as if they were returning […] from partying. The heat worked well, but kicked on and off incessantly blowing the curtains up over me as I slept. The hotel is rough in appearance and I would not stay there again. I did enjoy a bagel, juice and coffee in the morning, however, which was the best part of staying at this hotel. I am glad I did not stay at this hotel alone and only stayed one night for minimal time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"What you would expect for the price."
It was what you would expect for the price. Decent and workable. Close to 4th street and other sites. Breakfast was cold cereal toast or bagels and juice or coffee. Again workable and acceptable for the price. Parking is $5.00 extra per night though.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not worth the savings"
I stayed here for a conference downtown. For this purpose, the location is very convenient. There is little to recommend about this hotel though. Many small issues add up: instead of shampoo & conditioner, there were only two bottles of shampoo (both nights). The carpet had some black stains on it near the door. When I woke up, I found there was a used […] band-aid stuck to my sheet. We found a live bat on the ground directly outside our room -- it's not really the hotel's fault that a sickly animal decided to sleep/die there, but still. The hotel breakfast is just low-grade sweets and carbs (soggy muffins, etc) with some hard boiled eggs that didn't look too fresh. All of these 2 star hotel annoyances might be worth it if you were saving money, but in comparing rates with other conference attendees, I learned that for the same price I could have stayed at one of the many other 3 star or 3.5 star hotels that were a walking distance away. "Low Prices, Good Service"
Good service, great price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Although the hotel room itself was nice and comfortable for the price, the surrounding neighborhood includes an Adult Toy Store one block up. It is however located two blocks from the concert arena which makes it very convenient if you are there for a show as I was. However, all night long, I could hear everyone who came within close proximity to my […] room and it was well after 2am and people were still coming back to their rooms. Ask for a room away from the elevator or stairs. In the morning, I was propositioned for prostitution in the parking lot while loading my car. I would consider returning to the area but either ask for the 3rd floor of this hotel, or try another property. There is a shuttle to the arena for $2 a person which was great as I was running late and that was a nice perk. Breakfast was offered but I did not have it. Coffee wasn't that good. I travel with my own coffee maker. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"For Sound Sleepers Looking for a Cheap Stay"
If you're a very sound sleeper and don't mind the jets flying constantly overhead, this hotel might be okay for you. It's in a walkable location downtown but also a bit far from anything upscale.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Pleasant and Helpful Staff"
It was quick and easy to get checked in. There were no issues. This was the first time I had reserved a room online and was concerned there may be issues once I arrived at the hotel. I got in quickly with no problems. Parking was an additional five dollars each day but it was still cheaper then the other hotels who also required separate payment for […] parking each day. Due to being downtown there were often loud individuals out on the sidewalks but with the way the rooms were and the air running you did not hear much outside noise at all to disturb you. I was on the ground floor and had no problems with any people outside. The employee running the desk when I arrived at 8:30pm was very pleasant and helpful with all my questions. Internet was free unlike other hotels nearby that were more expensive and required you to pay a fee to use wireless as well. The night desk clerk was very helpful and provided me with things I needed. I ordered dinner and they had not provided any utensils to use when they delivered it. The desk clerk went and got some for me from their breakfast area and was very pleasant. I was extremely pleased with the friendliness of the staff. The room was clean for the most part. I did find a stray pretzel behind a chair but other then that I felt things were clean and I had no problems using the restroom, shower and the bed linens were clean and fresh. I greatly appreciated that there was a refrigerator and microwave provided. Very convenient. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"value for downtown location"
Overall, this hotel provides value for a downtown stay. It had adequate continental breakfast which was okay since not many fast food locations were near the area and were open during breakfast.
