The hotel itself is clean, and once you get use to the fact that there is no parking on ground level, but plenty in the underground garage, you'll be fine. Unfortunately, between the frat boys partying all night and the street cleaning that seems to begin at 5am, you'll get little to no sleep here. The hotel is adjacent to a gas station, and there is all kinds of traffic going in and out all night long.

Hotel is located in downtown Monterey, 4 blocks from Fisherman's Wharf and 2 blocks from Dennis the Menace Playground (great for little kids). A 3 minute drive to Cannery Row, the Aquarium, and 17-mile drive. Very friendly and helpful staff. They only downside was they were re-carpeting and re-furnishing all the rooms, so getting out of the hotel was difficult due to construction trucks and a dumpster. Otherwise, I recommend it and would stay there on my next visit to Monterey.

The hotel was fine for our purpose. We needed something cheap and safe. The bathroom was so small that I whacked my knee on the counter and had trouble getting around the next day. The hotel is very close to the downtown area. It is an easy walk to Alverado Street and Fishermens Warf. I stayed on New Years Eve and the hotel worked out great. I could crink and walk back to my hotel, didn't even need to spend money on a cab. It's not a super nice hotel but if are going to be spending most of your time outside of the hotel and don't want to spend a lot of money it's great. The rooms were clean, smelled fine, good bathroom but small, parking was not bad at all. I would stay here again.

This is an old motel and the condition of the bathrooms illustrate this issue. The rooms are very dated and although may look clean, they feel very dirty. The beds however were fairly comfortable though. The underground parking was very compact with only one way in. If you have a large vehicle or get there late you will have problem parking.

If you are looking for just a place to crash, this is a great pick. It is walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf and the Alvarado Street bar scene. However, if you are looking for a place to take your lady for a romantic weekend, I would not suggest this. It is located right next to a gas station, and can get a little noisy.

The hotel is in dire need of a remodel. The furnishings in the room were fine but the room was ancient. The room door did not close properly and the shower head was set way too low for anyone over 5"10". The room had an overpower smell of cleaning solution, I had to leave the door open for over an hour to make it tolerable. I would have changed hotels but I was in town for a convention and the only other accomodations were over $300 per night. I got what I paid for.
