"Cheap and easy"
This was by far the best location and price we could find closest to our event in downtown Portland Pearl District. Highly recommended if you're not looking for luxury. The staff was also very easy to work with.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Comfortable, clean, friendly. Fairly priced, with great proximity to downtown. Perfect if you're in town for a concert or event and plan on walking.Genuine Expedia guest review
I got into town late. This was a good place to crash, then off to work in the morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"not so good"
Hotel Room (215) had a funky odor. Shower looked liked something out of an old HS locker room. Hotel cleaning service started before 8amGenuine Expedia guest review
"stay at Eastside"
We enjoyed the hotel's location, and the staff was quite nice. However, our room (double plus a single bed) had a funky smell and the faucet handle came off the morning we were leaving. It had been hard to operate prior, but we were still surprised. I've stayed in lots of hotels, and this was a first. For the price, and because we are not that picky, […] this was fine for us for two nights. I don't think I will stay there again, however. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was a okay hotel to stay at, not great, but good enough. There is a major lack of outlets in the room, so charging electronics was slow using the one outlet we found in the bathroom. Everything else was fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good value:old, but clean and very convenient"
I will stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location, great hotel"
This hotel is in walking distance to downtown and has a bunch of cool restaurants and stores in the area. The price is great and the owners are proud to run a clean, well run establishment with very good prices. It's also nice that the area is quiet at night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cheap but good"
Comfortable bed, clean room and linens. Close to everything, easy access and very friendly staff. Probably the only thing that I didn't like was the air conditioning system. Not much cooling at the maximum and very noisy. Good burgers and a cafe across the street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed here for a long weekend and loved that it was close to downtown. We walked over the bridge a few times and also found there was plenty right in the neighborhood as well. Staff was very friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice and Clean"
This is by no means a fancy hotel. However, if you are traveling on your own, it's a really good place to stay. The location is good, the staff people are nice, the room is always clean, and although it does not offer any special commodities such as breakfast, it works for someone who wants to get to know city.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to everything and pretty reasonable"
The hotel was great for us. Close to where we had to go and plenty of places to eat nearby. Only thing was the smell in the room...a little musty. Overall a good stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great value, good location, wonderful staff"
I don't normally write hotel reviews, but Eastside Lodge deserves special mention. I chose it because it was around the corner from an event I was attending and had a rock-bottom price. I honestly was expecting very little. To my surprise, when I arrived to check in, the person behind the counter couldn't have been nicer or more professional, even going […] so far as to say, "Checkout is at 11:00am, but we'd be happy to extend if you need more time." The staff was similarly helpful when I in fact called the next morning to request a late checkout, and when asking to store my suitcase through the afternoon. The room itself was nothing fancy, but it was extremely clean and in generally good condition - far beyond the standards I expected for the price. The bed, while by no means luxurious, was perfectly comfortable with clean, white, tight-tucked sheets. The location is surprisingly good. There are many restaurants and hip-looking nightspots nearby, though I didn't visit any. And the Burnside Bridge is only a short walk away, so I was able to walk from the hotel to the downtown street fair and nearest MAX stop in 10 minutes or fewer. If you're looking for something fancy, go downtown; if you're looking for a great value with outstanding personal service, stay at Eastside Lodge. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A Weekend in Portland"
Great location for riding the MAX. The hotel was dated however the service was great. BRING A HAIR DRYER! There was not one in the room. The mattress was more comfortable than expected, which is a plus. We would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great price for the location!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Beds were awful, felt like sleeping directly on the mattress springs. Had to leave room fan on to drown out traffic noise but the fan rattled all night too. Neighborhood was great for proximity of restaurants but would not stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not Classy, Just Fun"
This isn't a classy hotel by any means but the surrounding area offers a lot of great amenities. ie Strip club right across the street with a $3 cover and an amazing burger joint next to that. If you're looking for a convenient place to pass out, this is it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"its ok room for the price"
Room was clean they have wifi microwave and mini fridge! Its ok in my book ... Side note it's definitely out datedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Out of the downtown bustle"
The people who work there is the reason for my high assessment. The evening person was a real dear, took our pictures for us, was a wealth of information, and very nice. His sister and her husband own the hotel, and it's a family ran affair. It's a little out of the way, but the light rail and buses run nearby. I would stay there again if I visit the […] area. AND- it's affordable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was definitely outdated aesthetically, but it served our needs. Very clean, near to many great restaurants, bars, and at least a few tattoo parlors. Within walking distance of Voodoo Donuts. We didn't have much trouble with noise, but you can hear a really belligerent patron at the bar across the street if you're unlucky. For the price and the friendly […] staff, free wi-fi and cable, we felt satisfied with the price and our stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"good hotel for the price the you pay is near town."
I like to get there during the day so I can see how is the neighborhood, so I got there a night I was okay nice and quiet and the city beautiful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Eastside Lodge - do it if the price is right..."
I confess that I moved to the Doubletree after a single night. This is a dive motel in the truest sense, but it's right in the middle of a very cool neighborhood of restaurants, cafes, bars, and vintage shops, and the staff were very nice. Loud, loud, loud, though, and the bed felt more like sleeping on hog wire than an actual mattress. If you're accustomed […] to backpacker-style traveling, then go all in. If you need a little quiet and maybe a smidgen of padding under your behind, you should probably book elsewhere. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Low cost, but better than alternate lodgings"
Hotel is adequate for business travel. Rooms are clean but not modern. Free wi-fi is a real plus. Neighborhood can be noisy but this doesn't usually penetrate into rooms. I've stayed there three times and will go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Small but clean rooms. A place to sleep at a good price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great homey & comfortable lodging."
This was my first time to Portland, Oregon and had events going on across the street at another hotel. I enjoyed staying at Eastside Lodge because it's quiet and homey. The front desk people are always so helpful with everything and they also took the time to get me on the right bus route to where I needed to go. It's not an ultra-modern place, but […] I loved it because there's tons of storage, a fridge, a microwave, a home away from home. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"sub-par service, cleanliness and maintenance"
The manager was hostile on the phone and in person. The bed was comfortable, but there were brown smears on the television and there was hair all over the bathroom tub, walls and floor. When I ran the shower in the morning, the tub filled with brown water! It cleared up after ~ 10 minutes of running the water. There were strips of laminate peeling from […] the tables and the room smelled of smoke. It was convenient to the convention center and reasonably priced. I can not recommend this hotel to anyone. "Unexpectedly Terrific Hotel!"
This hotel was perfect for us. The room was clean, the beds very comfortable and the pillows fluffy. While the exterior isn't much, the interior of the hotel deserves more than a 2 star rating. The location was excellent. Just about everything on our to-do list ended up being within a 15 minute walk of the hotel; voodoo donuts, Saturday Mkt, Pearl District […] (Powell's Bookstore), Riverfront walk, etc. While the building across the street looks like the upper floors are condemned the rest of the neighborhood felt safe. We are two women and we felt comfortable walking everywhere, even late at night. There is a unique bar/restaurant (The Douglas FIr) almost across the street and a good coffee shop down the block. The front desk staff was friendly and knowledgable. They went above & beyond with helpful information about touring the area. This will be my hotel on all my trips to Portland from here on out! "Could have had a cheaper price..."
Honestly I don't think I am very hard to please, however there were some things that people need to know if they are considering staying at this hotel: 1. Location: not bad, Burnside is the main avenue that separates North Portland from South Portland and it's very close to public transportation and other attractions BUT, right now (9/11-13/2012) they […] have construction going on next to the parking lot, which starts making lots of noise from ~7:30AM to ~5PM , it also thickens the air in the room with dust.. Not good :/ 2. Room itself: the bed is decent, couldn't figure out the AC/Heater but there was no need since it had plenty of blankets. Had a very convenient small fridge. Microwave if you need it. Disappointment - The smell of the room (weird Ethanol like smell), & the shower door had some mildew on the bottom border .. Esthetics: the color or the building and the whole look is bland grayish dark .. Made me think of a jail.. Staff: hit & miss, the check-in guy was friendly, the check-out guy was grumpy (may be because it was 6:45AM) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My wife and I enjoyed this hotel. Its location is very good, close to restaurants and bars and easy access to public transportation. It's a good value for the price..Genuine Expedia guest review
Graffiti everywhere on building and in elevator. Bad part of town. Room very cramped and smelled like mold. Didn't stay the three days I paid for!!! Don't stay!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Worth the price"
For the lower price it was cost-effective. The rooms were kept clean and the wireless worked very well. It is a 15 minute walk to the Convention Center and from there Portland's fabulous public transportation system lets you travel anywhere. I took the mass transit from the airpot to the Convention Center, walked 15 minutes with my suitcase trailing […] me, and that was it! For $2.40 that's a steal. "A terrific find!"
I was meeting up with a woman friend of mine and we were just hanging out for a few days and wanted to do it on the cheap. I'd stayed on the other end of Burnside last trip and wanted to see another angle. I thought the property was great, vintage early 60's No Tell Motel kind of feel but the owners had clearly given the exterior a good paint job. I'm […] not going to blather on about the decor because I could care less about that, although the bathroom could've really benefited from some new fixtures and a fresh coat of paint. For my needs it was perfect and East Burnside is definitely happenin' with some fantastic restaurants and cute shops! A little noisy from the late night party people but not awful (ear plugs a worthwhile thing to pack). And it felt very safe. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Reasonably priced, great location, great service"
What can I say, it is on several bus lines or a short walk from downtown. It's in a great neighborhood and near Le Pigeon. The desk help was extremely courteous and helpful and the room was clean and simple, just what I wanted.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"no parking space"
There are more rooms than parking spaces as I learned when I returned at 9 PM and all spaces were full. The staff explained that yes parking is free but no a space is not guaranteed, which means you have to find a space somewhere in the street in this somewhat seedy neighborhood.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good for travelers"
This is a good place to crash if you're in Portland for a conference. It is a short walk to to the convention center. Highly recommended for people in their 20s and 30s who are into traveling and don't need a posh experience. Not recommended if you're in need of a romantic getaway, in the classical sense. It shares a parking lot with a dive that has […] karaoke until 2:30 a.m. every night. Free wifi. It's slow, but good enough for email and social networking. Free parking, too. "You get what you pay for"
We booked this hotel due to a last minute vacation decision. Everything else was either booked or too expensive for our budget. The hotel has a good location, literally 5 minutes from downtown and 5 minutes to a lot of good eateries on the East side. Though the condition of the overall facility is not good, bathrooms, elevators and pretty much everything […] would love to get a facelift. Additionally, I think due to the lower price, the type of guests staying are younger and noisier (especially after midnight). Not good when you have atrip with your kid and parents, like we did. "Hotel for downtown on a budget."
The location is excellent, you can easily walk to downtown or catch a bus if you want. The room was very clean. It came with A/C, TV, fridge, microwave, and ironing board. I wished there were complimentary lotion and conditioner, and the towels were kind of stiff. The staff was friendly, though somewhat hard to understand (quick, accented speech). We […] didn't hear the neighbors either :) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good value on a budget, friendly staff"
I give this hotel a 4 only because I reviewing it as a budget motel. This hotel cannot be compared to standard hotels such as a Hampton. It is a gently renovated Travelodge, and although clean enough, the furnishings and bathroom are quite outdated. The location is pretty good depending on what you want to do. It is a 10 minute walk from a light rail […] stop, or a 15-20 walk across the bridge to get to downtown. I had only 24 hours in Portland, and I wish I'd stayed a bit closer to the downtown area, since I didn't have a car. The best thing about this motel was the friendliness of the lady at the front counter. We had a great conversation. Moments like that make me happy to stay in places that some may consider "off-beat". All in all, a great value for the price as well as clean and safe. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"In desparate need of remodel or deep cleaning"
The location of the hotel was great it was close to several hip bars, restaurants, and quaint shops. The outside looks fine and the check in and out was convenient. However, the rooms were terrible! There were weird stains everywhere on the carpet, upholstered chairs, and all over the bedding! Of course all of this was accompanined by a foul smell.
