"good place for a cheap layover in Marina"
Greenwich inn was good value for money, but I would not take my family here as it was a bit dirty and I'm pretty sure the room had not been cleaned when we arrived. But for price and location it was really good.

"Cambio de Hotel por remodelaciones"
Al llegar al hotel nos dijeron que por reformas no había lugar y nos enviaron al Hotel Capri el cual estuvo muy bien, tiene unas habitaciones bonitas, servicios y comodidades como heladera, microondas, desayuno y estacionamiento gratuito (fundamental en San Francisco). Si luego de las remodelaciones el servicio fuera parecido al del Capri recomendaría totalmente que se alojen en en Greenwich Inn.

"Good Value"
The motel is under construction, so we got moved to The Capri Motel - 2 blocks down Greenwich - I didnt look good from the outside (It looked very 70-ish and worn out). But to our surprise the the room was GREAT! Newly renovated, great bed, fast wifi, ok breakfast, great location. - We Are Gonna Come Back For Sure!

"Vale pela localização"
De bom, muito bem localizado, tem estacionamento e o quarto era limpo. Entretanto, preço não era dos melhores, os atendentes falavam um inglês pior que o nosso e o quarto (assim como todo o hotel) era muito velho. No nosso quarto, tinha até buraco na parede.

"Get here now! Prices will rise"

A great location right off Lombard street. They are in the process of of remodeling, so the rates will probably be going up. The rooms have big TVs, tiled showers, hair dryers, very nice beds, everything is new. The rooms do not have refrigerators, ice buckets, or mini-shampoo.

I spent two nights in this hotel with other 3 friends. The outside of the hotel is not so nice while the inside is completely new: beautiful bathroom and room! There is a free wifi and parking but not the breakfast. The manager said to me that they are going to renew the outside, so we'll see:)

"Not much"

Given the price and the reviews, I did not expect much and that's exactly what I got - not much. However, ever basic no-frills hotels can be done differently, and this one is definitely not one of the best. The bed was ok, the shower was running, and that's positive, so the bare minimums of acceptable are fulfilled. Also, WIFI service was unexpectedly good. However, the room was very dirty, it has paint peeling off the walls and doors, electrical sockets missing faceplates, holes in the wall, missing lightbulbs, etc. It looked like last time it saw any maintenance wasn't in this century. So, if you need a (relatively to SF prices) cheap and conveniently located room for a night or so, and aren't especially sensitive to dirt and general shabbiness, then it may be ok for you. But if you are looking for a more pleasant and comforting place beyond bare minimum, look elsewhere.

"Good choice."

We visited the Greenwich from Scotland on 18-21 Dec., this was part of a Christmas road trip round the west coast. We had visited SF before and knew we wanted to be based on Lombard St., simply because of its proximity to nearly everything, and for this reason the Greenwich fitted prefectly. Really close to good dining, Mel's and IHOP, and many more upscale eateries. Very safe area, really nice shopping area 2 blocks away on Chestnut, and 5 mins by car to GGB. Rooms are tight for 4 people and cases, and breakfast is pretty nonexistent, but if you're travelling on a budget, it's spot on.

"Pretty ordinary, but nice location"

We stayed here because it was cheap, and I guess we got what we paid for. Our first room smelled so badly of cleaning products that we had to ask to move. Our second room was less smelly, but the carpet was crunchy underfoot and the A/C sounded like it was going to blow up. The location (Marina District) is pretty good - many nice places to eat, and a long walk or an easy bus ride into the central city. But if you want to have the full SF experience, you might be better off paying a bit more and staying somewhere more central.

"Not Great!"

The hotel was easy to find. The parking lot is very tiny but we were able to find a spot. The room and bathroom felt clean and charming. We had an electric space heater in the room but the room still felt very cold. The thing that really got us was that the room had an occupancy sensor - every time we would move in bed, the lights would come on. We tries turning it off but we couldn't. We had to build a tower out of our bags and room furniture in front of the sensor so that it wouldn't turn on - not our favorite activity in the middle of the night! Using a vacancy sensor (instead of an occupancy sensor) would have easily prevented this issue. The location is good and close to public transportation but we probably won't stay here again.

The location was quite near transport links which was helpful. The room was pretty grim though. During our stay, the toilet broke, the TV stopped working and there was (not our) blood on the sheets. When we told reception about this, they said we'd have to tell the maid in the morning. And they kept hold of my credit card for four days after we checked in. Fortunately I don't use it much, but was in a panic when I realised it was missing until they finally informed me they had it. Just seemed like no pride was taken re presentation of this motel. I suppose the money keeps rolling in due to fair location so I guess they have no reason to worry.

"Wouldn't be my first choice"

If you're looking for a place to basically just sleep and not spend much time in the room, this is definitely an option. It's out dated and could use a make over, however, it was in a great location, not far from a lot of major tourist destinations and public transportation routes. It was fairly comfy. Two biggest issues we had was the room stunk. There was an over powering smell of a cheap and disgusting air freshener. The other was the hole in the wall behind the door. Although this may sound petty, but the shower height was perfect for someone that is 4ft tall.

Let me start with the good: the neighborhood is wonderful and safe. The Greenwich motel is surrounded by small pubs, deli's and restaurants. Parking is free for guests but very tight. Also, the small room was very clean with comfortable bedding. They also provided soap and shampoo. It was nice that the room had a fridge, microwave and coffeepot. On the negative side, the heater was so loud that it sounded like a train in the room; could not use it and it was a bit nippy. If you are interested in watching TV ours was 'old school' meaning you have to get up to change channels (instead of using a remote) but we only had it on late at night. Room 23 did not have a smoke detector or a clock. Reasonable rates.

"The budget choice for the city"

We staid here for 4 nights. The hotel offer's free parking and we never had issues parking our car (there were always free space). The rooms were tiny and did not have any air conditioning in them, it didn't bother us since it wasn't so hot on October.. Overall the room was clean and the hotel location allowed us to get to places on public transit pretty easily. We also felt safe to go around at night.
