"Find another hotel nearby"
Its a 4 star hotel right? I was dropped off at around 7PM with my two bags, no one to open the door, no bell service. It was okay because there was a handicapped button to push to get the door to open. I was the only person in the lobby, so maybe the person behind the check in desk could have greeted me, as I wasn't certain I was in the right place […] because of the front door issues. The front desk person was polite enough when I approached and I thought I just had a bad start and things would get better. I got to my room and it had a view of a large gray wall and parking garage. Things were okay until the next day and someone pointed out I had toothpaste on the front of my pants---weird. It happened the following day too, Toothpaste on the same place on my pants--I thought it must have been on my folio or something. Not until the 3rd day did I notice some toothpaste in the bathroom on the vertical portion of the sink fixture. Obviously the cleaning staff thought that to clean that surface wasn't necessary. Since it was on a vertical surface, it couldn't have fallen there, it must have been pushed there from the horizontal surface by the cleaning staff and left there. I won't be staying there again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location location location!"
Across the street from Waterfront Park. A few blocks from downtown shopping. Walking distance to The Pearl, Chinatown and a bus or Max ride to everywhere else. Most reasonable parking rates for hotel patrons. Room was small but nicely appointed and very clean. Very comfortable bed. Our only ding on a straight 5/5 rating was that housekeeping did not […] get to our room until 5:30 on our stay over day. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"River location spoiled by homeless."
It would have been perfect but for the fact that wherever we walked near the hotel there were homeless people. This meant that we could never really relax and enjoy Portland. Not the hotel's fault!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Staff helpful, light rail noisy, but great location, enjoyed our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to everything- waterfront, shopping, train"
Comfortable, quiet, clean. It was convenient to come in/out from airport on the MAX(train) the stop was one block away from hotel. Close to all the things we wanted to see: Waterfront, Pearl District.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is across the street of the waterfront park, near the Saturday Market, walking distance to shopping and dining. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but rather small. Our room on the third floor had quite a bit of traffic noise. Staff is friendly and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Although the hotel, itself, was clean and well run, I thought it an outrageous amount for what one didn't get ($273+) ... the 3 things that need to be addressed are: (1) free parking should be built in; (2) either a "free" continental b'fast or a substantial amount taken off tab when one eats there; and (3) bed was rock hard....not comfortable. Now...the […] pluses were definitely (1) cleanliness; (2) politeness of staff; and (3) good location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Rose City stay at Hotel Rose"
Overall, our stay was pleasant enough. The only real criticism we had was that the shower had only a partial glass wall. It didn't extend the entire length of the opening side and had no door, so it was all but unavoidable that taking a shower resulted in a puddle on the floor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I travel almost 9 months out the year and I gladly can say this hotel has made my year in terms of service location and hospitality. Will recommend to my fellow business travelers when in the Portland area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great value for staying downtown"
Price was right but have to keep in mind this is a downtown hotel so rooms are smaller and must pay for parking ($15/night) and also no breakfast. However, coffee maker and fridge in room and Wi-fi was best during our entire trip. Bed comfortable and walk-in shower and bathroom upscale.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were stayig in Portland for only one night and wanted to be downtown. The location of Hotel Rose was perfect. The room was tiny and our view was over a parking lot so I would have preferred a better room if we were staying longer. However, the bed was super comfy which is a must when I stay at hotels. Also they are very environmental conscious, which […] is a plus! The hotel restaurant also had great gormet cocktails! We didn't eat there though. The hotel and restaurant staff were very friendly. Overall I would go back if we return to Portland. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Loved this hotel"
The hotel had a great vibe, and the newly redone bar and restaurant could not have been better. We generally avoid hotel restaurants, but this one was spectacular. Also, the hotel staff were extremely friendly and seemed genuinely proud to work at this hotel. The only thing that might bother some guests is that the air conditioning and heating are centrally […] controlled, so you can only turn the system on or off, but cannot regulate the temperature. "Great Location/ Great Hotel"
I would recommend Hotel Rose. Rooms are small but very nice. Perfect for two people.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Short stay in Portland. Great launch point. Close to the river, easy walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Terrific access to public transportation. Nice bar, great staff. Room was good but we were located beneath the fitness center. Slept through the weights the first night but not the second. Would recommend this hotel but not the room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Freezing cold room until they brought me a heater"
The room was cold when I arrived and was told they don't turn on heat this time of year. Why they turned on the air confuses me. They finally brought me a space heater which warmed the room to 70. The restaurant was nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Calling this hotel a Rose is a disgrace to a rose!"
Walked into a mixed up reservation, was supposed to have two beds, ended up with one and a roll away. The room they gave me was trashed, dirty towels all over, trash on the ground, bed thrashed. Got a different room then had to wait until after 10pm to get the roll away after calling for it three times over an hour. When I asked if I could get a discount […] or something for all the mix ups and waiting, the staff were completely condescending and rude until I spoke to a shift leader, Sarah, and she even said the hotel policy's "suck". I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. Very disappointing when I saw such good reviews, especially with such unwelcoming and unhelpful front desk staff. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Under Construction But Still A Good Stay"
I found the Hotel Rose to be situated in a great place to visit Portland. Just across from the river, just inside downtown, with numerous options for food and drink just blocks away. And with Portland's half-sized blocks, walking to Voodoo Donuts or Powell's is within 10 minutes. The hotel also included free bikes for guest use, fantastic for cruising […] the streets. The lobby and restaurant were under construction at the time, but again, due to the location of the hotel, this was not an issue. The MAX line runs by the hotel, so if you're a light sleeper, that may be an issue (not a problem for me). The ONLY big complaint I would have is the AC did not cool the room down on our last night, so opening the windows became a necessity. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent downtown hotel"
My wife and I came here on our first trip together to Portland over Memorial Day weekend. We wanted to stay downtown to be close to everything. Hotel Rose was a pretty good location. It was on the edge of downtown right by the river. It isn't dead center in the middle of the shopping and restaurants, but it is a short walk or drive to them. The hotel […] itself was not too bad, but nothing amazing. It was clean and the room/bed were very comfortable. The hotel staff was extremely nice and attentive. The decor of the hotel was just kind of meh, but not a big deal. They were doing a remodel in the lobby, so I'm sure that will look better once it is done. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a clean, decent stay in Portland. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Overbooked, torn up lobby, windo cleaning, ugh"
Great location and I can see the potential but we were greeted after traveling all day to get there by a completely torn up lobby and then sucker punched by an over booked hotel. We had two rooms booked - they had overbooked by three. Ugh. They "walked" us to the neighboring Crowne Plaza which, although nicer than the Rose, was on the other side of […] the Columbia. Not at all where we wanted to be. They covered the night at the Crowne and offered us anything on their Bistro room service menu but quickly followed the offer with the large asterisk that all hot menu items...like, say, dinner items?...had been "converted" to just cold items. That scratched about 80% of the Bistro's offerings. The restaurant they touted online ended up closed as they were under construction and the first morning we actually got to stay, there was a note under the door alerting us that privacy would be compromised due to the windows washing on all floors. We searched for the Rose and came up all thorns. Loved Portland outside of the Rose though - keep it weird! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was in a nice location, however the lobby was under construction so it was closed and so was the main level. Entrance to the hotel was only from the garage, which was very inconvenient and it barely had any room to unload your car and not in a safe zone. Room was a little tight with 2 beds and the comforters were not the cleanest. Linens were yellow. […] But the staff we're great and room service was prompt. "Comfortable room; too bad lobby was closed"
The staff was very friendly, but the entire first floor was closed for remodeling. You had to enter the building from the underground parking garage, and it was not clear from the street that was where you were supposed to enter from. I had taken the light rail from the airport and circled the block twice with my heavy suitcase before the valet told […] me I needed to enter from the garage. Otherwise, the rooms were clean and comfortable. It was a convenient location, although crossing under the Morrison Bridge at night was a little scary if you hadn't first seen it during the day. Once the lobby and restaurant are back open, it will be a lovely hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Even while undergoing remodeling, the staff was pleasant and informed. The staff was attentive and responsive to requests. Restaurant was closed, but room service was available. This hotel is on the light rail line and within reasonable walking distance to much of downtown Portland. Several restaurants within 2-3 blocks. A large park and the river are […] across the street. The lobby of the hotel was under renovation and we had to enter/exit through the garage some days - not the best way to go, but the hotel itself was clean, the staff friendly, the rooms comfortable. Ordered room service for breakfast (the restaurant is changing over and the renovations shut it down as well as the bar) and they were prompt and the food […] quite good. Was disappointed not to know about the renovation in advance, but at least we were a few floors up so we were not disturbed by the noise! "Great Downtown Portland Location"
This hotel is a block from trains & busses and in a perfect park and riverfront location. The service was excellent. Free bottles waters & coffee in each room was a plus along with nice city-view balconies. Don't miss Paddy's Irish Bar around the corner for a GREAT happy hour. "Excellent hotel with plenty to do nearby!"
I really enjoyed staying at Hotel Rose. I took the Red Line from the airport and used public transportation about 90% of my visit. Hotel Rose has great proximity to max light & bus stops, as well as being just a couple blocks from Pioneer Square and excellent shopping (Sephora, Macy's, etc). The staff was great! They let me check in several hours early […] and check out a little late, as well as holding my bags before I headed to the airport. The hotel and neighborhood felt very safe - most of Portland felt safe to me. The only time I needed a cab was when I was in the China Town / Old Town neighborhood near Burnside Street after a show and another night after shopping at Powell's. There seems to be more homeless folks the further you head in that direction - but I had absolutely no trouble and had no reason to really worry about them. The hotel doesn't have any self-serve laundry facilities on site and the only alternative they offer is expensive send out laundry service. There is great dining very near by! Paddy's bar, Rock Bottom Brewery, Momma Mia's, and more if you go a few blocks in any direction! The hotel was renovating their dining facilities so they only had limited room service, but what they had was good. I hope to come back again and try out the new restaurant! I really fell in love with Portland and hope to be back someday soon! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Hotel in Great location"
Just wish someone would have told us before hand that the lobby was under construction. Aside from that we had a great stay. It's right in the heart of downtown, a block from the river, and walking distance to everything. I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"2nd Time Is not a charmm"
The first time I stayed at Hotel Rose was during the snow storm at the beginning of February 2014 and was snowed in most of my visit as the city pretty much shut down. When I arrived the main lobby was in ok condition but they were doing some serious renovations to the restaurant causing that to have a limited menu and seating area. The head did not […] work, after two requests for them to fix it they located me to the top floor facing the river (the only good views in the hotel). This visit was just as poor. This time the lobby was fully under construction and you could barely walk to the front counter, the air did not work in our room. The mini fridge was barely colder than the room (our food did not last in it). The rooms are overly cramped with limited space if you have two suitcases. We stayed the exact same way (4 nights, with a dog and self park) our first visit we were charged $60 for that, this visit we were charged $151. Be known that it was $20 PER NIGHT for the dog, as we were only charged $20 the time we visited last time. They state on their website they provide all these amenities for your dog, didn't even get a dog bowl. The ONLY good thing about the hotel is the Max stations a block away, but for the price there are other locations downtown that are better. We tried to give them a second chance in May and they failed miserably again. I will not return. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quick Friday Stay"
Unfortunately the lobby and restaurant were under construction during my stay. While there wasn't any noise to bother me I feel this should be made known to guests prior to booking or arrival. The room was clean, […] comfortable, and perfect for my needs. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what we expected"
This place has a great location. We planned on taking advantage of the common spaces for friends and family, including a great bistro and bar. When we got there, the bistro, bar and lobby were all closed or unavailable due to renovations. When requesting cancellation due to unavailability of advertised amenities, we were told because we booked through […] Expedia, we had no options. We were told that they weren't required to inform Expedia of unavailable options. Consequently, we had 5 adults in two rooms, with nothing comparable within reasonable walking distance. Also, the room was very warm and the air conditioning was not working. When we called the front desk, we were advised to turn up the temperature as that would cause the fan to turn on. My daughter when to the front desk and was told the air conditioning was off to save energy, and they usually didn't turn it on until they got enough complaints. Way to run a business. We were initially offered a $40 compensation through room service for our inconvenience ( for 2 rooms and 5 adults) but we would have to use it before 9 pm. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good Location, but hotel needs work"
We arrived late on a Friday night, staying two nights. The lobby is being renovated, which we were not told about before we arrived, so there was no floor and the restaurant was closed, so no food/bar. The walls are incredibly thin at this hotel, so even on the top floor we could hear a lot of street noise, along with the couple next door (if you know […] what I mean). I asked for an updgraded room, but all they gave me was a regular room with a King bed, instead of two fulls. Clean enough, but small, and the furniture needs to be replaced (damaged, dirty). I don't think I'll stay here again, and I'm suprised that Expedia made this a VIP hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Loved it. Relaxed, easy access to great places and very friendly staff. Will stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great little hotel. Super close to everything we needed. Right on Max Line - so a little lound initially but we got used to it after the first night. Parking garage is not very tall so if you have a SUV you might want to consider valet parking - or just get a parking spot in the garage close to the street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice little boutique hotel within walking distance of the core of downtown. The lobby and restaurant were torn up and under major construction so the restaurant had limited hours and so did room service. The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. The bedside tables have glass tops (common) but one side was not cleaned properly. If there is […] one thing that grosses me out it is when the cleaning staff does not clean the surfaces. Once they get the lobby done it has potential as long as the cleaning staff improves and the front desk and door folks are less catatonic. Keeping it weird is one thing. But they could stand for a bit less weird and a bit more clean and lively. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location and modern hotel"
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It's right across the street from Tom McCall park. Within walking distance to all restaurants and bars. The staff was really friendly. Although it is still undergoing construction, it is still a great looking hotel. Definitely cannot wait to come back when the renovations are complete, it looks amazing so far. […] The room has a mini fridge and a coffee maker! They have an adorable complimentary umbrella that you can use during your stay. "Nice hotel in Downtown Area"
Currently the hotel is going through some renovations, and in a couple of months it will probably be A+ hotel. The open glass shower situation was something to get used to. Also, I prefer a bar of soap rather than the body wash that was attached to the wall like if I were taking a shower at the gym. Last thing, our hotel room was facing the TriMet tracks […] so any time they carts passed by you heard/felt it. But that is neither here nor there. "Nice stay in the Rose District of Portland"
We enjoyed Hotel Rose - comfy bed, clean and contemporary. Great service from the staff, all of whom were very friendly. Excellent location, except that our balcony looked out over a busy street and bridge. But we were happy to have the balcony. "The Squeaky Wheels Need Grease"
Overall, it was just ok. There were a couple things that were disappointing. The entire lobby/bar was torn up for renovations, which wasn't made clear before reservations were made. That was pretty minor since we were out on the town the entire time they were working on it. The thing that gets Hotel Rose a Cat.1 (bad) rating for condition/Maintenance […] is the elevator door wheels loudly squeaked any time the doors opened or closed...EVERY TIME. All night long this happened and we were less than 30 feet from that awful sound. I can't imagine what people who were given rooms closer thought. "Great hotel to visit downtown Portland"
We have stayed in Portland before, in the general area, so we wanted to stay in that area again. The rate was very reasonable and the parking was inexpensive (20/night for valet). But we never used our car, we walked everywhere, its a great central location. They were doing work on the restaurant, but it didn't disturb our experience. "2.5 Star hotel at 4 star prices"
The Rose was a real disappointment for me. The location is great but the hotel does not match up to that. While the hotel was not nearly full they put me in a room facing the parking lot and a 5 story grey wall. There were many vacant rooms facing the river. The hotel restaurant is closed for renovation. The bar is open evenings but does not have food […] available. They did provide room service (with a 18% tip AND a $3.00 service charge). There is no business center or computer available to guests. There are no real amenities. The lobby is as sterile as a hospital waiting room. On my third day they did not make up my room until I returned at 4:00 PM and called for service.
