"Great Downtown Portland Hotel"
Good stuff and great location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Enjoyed the room. Hopefully, next time we will be able to enjoy a river view. That would be awesome.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel staff were amazingly helpful! From early check in to recommending a fntastic dinner restaurant, our needs were met! The hotel was away from the nightlife we were looking for, and had some loud airplanes flying at all hours. The room was beautiful, breakfast was great and overall we were satisfied with the value for our dollarGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Internet did not work. Lobby was under construction. Everything else was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to city, public transit, and river"
Good, clean, hotel, friendly desk staff. Really liked the dispensers in bathroom for shampoo, soap, and body wash. Don't like all those small bottles hanging around. Tub and Bathroom were very clean. Trolley for city and airport go right by the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very convenient to downtown"
Nice hotel with a very friendly helpful staff. Would definitely use again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location in a great city"
The Hotel Rose is in a beautiful location across the street from a large park fronting the Willamette river. Portland has fantastic, clean and efficient public transportation and EVERYBODY uses it. The red MAX line runs all the way from the airport and right to the hotel and you can get alomost anywhere in the city for 5$ a day. We rented a car for […] this trip, but when we go back, we're taking the MAX. Parking charges at the hotel are par for a city, but there's no need to use valet parking. Self parking is underground a few steps from the door. The hotel rooms are a little small, but well appointed and clean, Very comfortable bed and unique, roomy shower. The staff was informal and very friendly. Just a very comfortable stay...We'll definitely be back! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
When we went to breakfast. A pone return the maids had already started cleaning are room. We we not quit ready for that. So we checked out. I left feeling like I didn't get to have the hole experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Even though the weather closed down all of Portland, the staff was friendly and efficient. Appreciated the smiles- some folks worked for two days straight. We went out on Friday early and returned later (around 2:30pm) and the room hadn't been cleaned. The cleaning person did arrive around 2:45 and did work around us but it would have been nice to come […] back to a clean room. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The bed linens and mattress were very comfortable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"3 stars -- that's it...it's an outdated hotel..."
outdated hotel trying to get away as new and modern....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I would return to the Hotel Rose- especially when the remodel is completeGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"AC/Heater not working"
The hotel is in a great location, but you couldn't control the temperature. It'll be hot then ice cold off and on, we would wake up sweating. Needless to say I left Portland sick.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cute and Convenient"
Newly renovated hotel with all the creature comforts and thoughtful amenities. Spa like toiletries and plush robes. They offer small daily treats like mini cupcakes and the on site restaurant is a delight. It was close to several other types of restaurants and walking distance to many downtown Portland attractions. I would return again without hesi […] tation. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great but the elevator was down for a while and the smoke detector was missing with just wires hanging out.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good trip, with a few minor hiccups"
The personnel were great. Our room heat wouldn't turn off, our room was literally 80 degrees, the front desk was helpful in remedying the situation, but not sure I would have figured it out without calling. Might want to put something in the rooms to that effect. Our room did not get made up, and we were gone for 8 hours. We even came back, discovered […] it wasn't done, and left again, so it could be done. Finally we had to put the do not disturb sign out, so we could get ready for our event. It was around 4:30 or 5:00 pm. They probably came by then. The hotel is located by a park, the river, and lots of good downtown stuff. Very easy to get in and out of, without hassling with traffic. "Great Place to Stay"
My son and her boyfriend were on a road trip and I reserved a room for them through hotels.com. They arrived a day early and the hotel staff was wonderful. They had a fun visit to Portland and loved their room and the way they were treated by the staff. I know where I will stay next time I visit Portland.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel 50 is very comfortable and has changed over the years for the better! Rooms are spacious and the beds are very compforatble. Also, the location can't be beat. What's not to like about being next to the river, the park, the lightrail and within walking distance to downtown? I have stayed at this location over the better part of the last 11-years. […] Though, the stays have not been very frequent, I have seen this hotel transform into the 'Jewel of Portland' that it is today. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pretty solid hotel"
The hotel was nice. The location was convenient for walking around downtown and the price was reasonable given the location. There was a restaurant/bar downstairs that was very nice and the food was pretty good. I had steak and it wasn't bad. Prices are so-so. The staff was really nice and courteous, and I really can't say anything negative about them. […] Everything was clean and the bed was VERY comfortable. The one BAD was that they charged for parking which seemed petty to me, and should have been part of the nightly rate. I didn't appreciate having to pay to park. Overall I would say it was a good stay!! I would stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We Stayed there after Christmas for a quick get away and really loved the hotel. The staff were helpful and very friendly, the hotel was clean, love the modern feel and is in a great location to walk around and explore the downtown, but also on the river walk convenient for running and recreation.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great stay in Portland"
If you're looking for a great place to stay in downtown Portland, the Hotel Rose is a Great location! "Great Hotel in Portland!"
Good location, clean, quiet, very comfortable beds, nice shower, and thick towels. Great value and I would definitely stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall, the room was pretty good for the price and location. There was some construction right outside so it was a bit hard to find the parking lot the first time around.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"excellent stay, parking...eh"
The hotel was fabulous...very comfy bed, quiet rooms, shower was grand! They even put soap and conditioners in dispensers instead of those cheesy little bottles. Just a couple complaints...road construction made it extremely difficult to navigate their garage as it was not well marked during the construction...also they charge $15 per car for self park […] and $20 for valet. I think this should be disclosed up front on the description. Maybe it is and I didnt see it? Either way...rather steep when i can go to the smart park 1 block down and pay half that. I mean it IS right downtown. And there is no incentive to park in their garage (security or otherwise) other than that...great place! Retro, yet modernized! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The location was a strong factor in my staying there. I especially liked the Max line being around the corner. The decor is very modern and too austere for my taste, but my room was clean. There was a view of the parking lot from my window. My first impression as I got off the elevator to walk to my room was that the hall carpet was not vacuumed clean […] and it made me wonder if my room was that dirty, which it wasn't. I don't feel that it was a 3.5 star experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"great, but construction just outside the room"
as stated, the hotel was great, aside from the construction going on just outside my room. i assume that is temporary, so it should quiet down a bit. i had no problems sleeping, and was there for work, so was awake before any of the construction could bother me.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient and Accessible"
Loved the location. Walked to the Holiday Parade, shopping and food. Great front desk service. Wonderful beds.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice boutique hotel"
Nice staff. Responsive. Cool decor vibe. Food is good and nicely priced. Great location in downtown.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location to Downtown Portland"
Two blocks from a train stop (which I took from the airport) and easy to walk around downtown Portland. Although having the trains run from 4am -midnight, there is a little bit of noise if you are on that side of the hotel. But the staff was excellent, and the hotel was very new and clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel, Great Location, Very Helpful Staff"
The Rose Hotel is a great place to stay. Located centrally in downtown Portland the shopping district and Chinatown are both easily walkable. It's near great restaurants, entertainment and shopping. It's got a REALLY friendly staff who helped us out and really made us feel at home.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location + WIFI"
Nice. Well located with easy access to/from airport free WI-FI!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Friendly staff and good location"
The front staff and valet were incredibly helpful and The restaurant let us borrow wine glasses to bring up to our room which was nice also. The location was also great, right downtown. Also right across the street is a beautiful waterfront park. Would definetly stay here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel , good location"
I had a great stay at Hotel Rose. I needed a location close to all the sights and this worked perfect.Genuine Expedia guest review
I haven't been to Portland for over 10 years, and didn't know where to stay. Reserving a hotel just based on information off the Internet seemed risky, but in this case it worked out. The location is great in that it is convenient to business locations and across from a waterfront park. The rooms are of a good size and reasonably updated (the building […] is an older building). I would recommend popping for extra for the waterfront view, not only for the view but because there is a trolley car that runs on the back side. The room provided two robes (without asking) an umbrella, and a Keurig coffee maker (with two complementary bottled waters). The only negatives are that the fan on my heating system ran 24/7, but perhaps that is better than it cycling on and off--seems like a real energy waster though. Also the breakfast (Salmon hash w/ poached egg) in the restaurant was only so-so. Self-parking is $15, which if I would have known I might have opted for street parking using the self-pay machines. But overall I would definitely stay there again if I needed a hotel room on that side of the Columbia and would recommend the place to others. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Business trip in Portland, OR"
The hotel location is perfect, walking distance to downtown, river, restaurants, shops. Staff are very knowledgable and friendly. It is very warm and friendly environment. However, hotel is outdated, AC/Heating is not functioning properly, and very noise.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Hotel Rose Good evening jiyise, Thank you for your favorable comments regarding our hotel. Please know that we are in the planning stages of a renovation that will address the issues you mentioned. We hope you return in the spring to see our new look. Thank you. Terry Hanley General Manager
We loved it. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Better than any of the other big name hotels located on the waterfront. Trust me, we have been to a few! We definately recommend Hotel Rose. We wish we would have checked them out earlier.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Stay For a Birthday"
My boyfriend bought us a night at the Hotel Rose for my 28th birthday. We were working on a budget and based on photos and other reviews we were sold. We were hoping for a riverside view but because we checked in early we had to settle for a south side view. If you want to look out your windows do NOT go south side: it is a concrete wall. Luckily we […] didn't care so much because we spent most of the time enjoying the amazing shower, the unbelievably, never ready to leave bed, and the free HBO (I had an awesome comfy birthday). The only other complaint is that our room was mostly taken up by the bed so it felt a bit cramped. Other than that the ambiance is gorgeous, the staff is very friendly, and there were the most delicious complimentary mini cupcakes in the lobby which we took full advantage of. One more note: there isn't free parking so be aware of that when you arrive. But the location is great: across from Tom McCall Park and within walking distance to anything your heart desires. It is also right on the MAX line if you didn't bring your walking shoes. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Clean, Modern Hotel"
I selected the Hotel Rose based on its location so I could walk to my appointment the next morning. It was a short distance from the MAX light rail stop so schlepping my one piece of luggage from the light rail to the hotel was easy. I found the staff to be very pleasant and on top of things. The room was compact but had everything I needed for a one […] night business stay. The king size bed was comfortable. Room furnishing were all excellent. The only drawback to the hotel was it's proximity to a curve on the light rail. You heard and felt the rumbling from time to time. It was not a huge problem and not unlike some of the other downtown hotels I have stayed in before. It is an urban setting and you are going to get some street noise. The price difference between this hotel and others not far away was a significant savings. I would stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Spent one night there while visiting down town portland. The Hotel is close in walking distance of almost anything you will need.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel across from the Willamette River"
Modern hotel with friendly and accommodating staff. Under new management and transitioning to a remodel. Rooms were nice and comfortable, but the hallway carpets were worn and need to be replaced. Overall a good place to stay with great access to the river esplanade and just blocks to downtown shopping.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great hotel tucked away along the river. Road noise was our only concern. Will definately stay there again. Bikes for guests is a grat idea, but we just didn't have time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Good central, location. Well informed front desk staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
You can't beat the location! Right in the heart of downtown by the waterfront . An easy walk to everything. Room was very nice with all modern amenities, however, lacked in sizeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't forget your sweater!"
I thought this hotel was great except for the fact that you can't control your in-room temperature. It's controlled by the hotel, and I was very cold! They can give you a space heater though so that helps. Never been at a hotel where you can't control the temperature for the room so that was surprising. Otherwise, a very nice stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fancy website = crappy hotel"
Tiny room, chair crammed between bed and window so person on that side can't get out on side of bed. When I called to complain about the lack of heat, I was told that the thermostat was backwards. Even after setting to 50 degrees, only cool air was blowing. Shower soaks the entire bathroom because there is a fixed glass wall that does not prevent the […] spray from soaking the room. Noisy, buses run all night right outside hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great boutique hotel setting"
This was a quick overnight trip to Portland for business reasons. I had stayed in this hotel when it was under the name Hotel Fifty, and had very much enjoyed it. This time was no different. I appreciated the style of the hotel and the rooms, and love the large shower in the bathroom instead of a clunky bathtub. The bed was quite comfortable, and it […] was nice that wireless Internet was not an additional fee. Only thing I missed was having a small refrigerator in the room...and, it was frustrating that nearly every pop machine on every floor was out of soda (!). Otherwise, really quite enjoyable. Walking distance from riverside park, downtown restaurants, start, viewing, and finish of the Portland Marathon. We had some very good meals at their restaurant. Pleasant boutique feel to the hotel. Staff very pleasant.Genuine Expedia guest review
Loved this boutique hotel. A great feature was the pass to 24-Hour Fitness. Only negative: if you are driving, it is tricky finding your way in and out of the front of the hotel due to all the one ways and freeway ramp which is directly in front of the building, an eyesore. We had a king with a balcony, which was large. We looked in on a queen room […] which was quite small. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location but frigid room - 52 degrees"
When I walked into my room cold air was blasting through the vents. I went to turn on the heat and the cold air continued to come out. When I called to the desk, they were telling me that it is an old building and the heat will not come on until the temperate reaches 52 degrees. When I said that I can't be that cold all night, they sent up a personal […] heater that I had to run all night no high. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
