"Beautiful Rooms in this Downtown Portland Hotel!"
I really enjoyed my stay at this Hotel as the room was clean, quite luxurious and relaxing. The staff were friendly and I was able to save some money by using the street parking. The prices are a little higher that average, so I wouldn't stay here without a discount code. The location of the hotel is excellent. It's across the street from the Park […] and River. The surrounding neighbourhood is feels quite safe, even with the noticeable homeless person situation. I recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I booked this hotel because it sounded cool and hip. When we arrived, it wasn't exactly "cool" looking, but it seemed okay. The gal at the front desk couldn't be bothered to say hello or offer to help us check in. And then we went up to our room... It was gross. Before we even got to our room though, the hallway leading down to the room was dark and […] boring - no art on the walls or any color - and almost looked like a dreary cruise ship. In our room: The bed linen was wrinkled and looked like it had got caught in a dryer and then thrown on the bed. The furniture was ALL scraped and scratched - the desk, the chairs, the night stands. Even the walls were dirty and had stains on them. There was one random chair squeezed in by the side of the bed that barely fit there and looked like it'd been sat in by hundreds of people - which I get, that's what hotels are in terms of 'traffic' - but I don't want to see the imprint of past butts on the chair! The bathroom, though tiny, was clean enough as far as I could see and it was functional. I would never stay here again. My hubby and I were so disappointed that our weekend away for our anniversary (first weekend away from the kiddos in I don't know how long!) was spent in this dreary hotel. We immediately wanted to leave the moment we stepped into our room, but we'd pre-paid our hotel bill already. I know this hotel recently sold so hopefully the new owners will do something about the nasty rooms. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to beer festival but very noisy!!!"
This hotel apparently is newly remodeled but the rooms were extremely small. Although it did have a good location the "rail" is literally right outside your hotel window. The housekeeping was so so, didn't really do much except make the bed. I always enjoy a hotel with a nice bar for a nightcap. Unfortunately the bar tenders/servers were overhwhelemd […] to get a drink, we actually left and went to PAddys around the corner. We tried it the second night and the drinks were average. Great location next to the beer fest and access to good restaurants. Parking was most helpful, Ryan, as well as the young lady who both provided valet and bell hop service. Restaurant in the hotel had menu variety with enjoyable breakfasts and very good service.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Ew...dirty, smelly lobby is a BAD first impression"
The lobby of Hotel Fifty is dirty, outdated and smells like old gym socks, and the room is only slightly better than the lobby. The walls and carpet in the hallways are filthy...the carpet in our room was too dark to notice the stains (thank goodness). We spent 2 mornings and early afternoons sightseeing and returned to the room at 3 pm to rest before […] dinner. Our room had not been cleaned and when housekeeping arrived a while later they were very unaccomodating. We took fresh towels but didn't have our room cleaned because they wouldn't wait 10 minutes for us to get out of the room. One evening we went out for dinner and brought dessert and wine back to the room to rent one of the movies advertised on our TV. When the rental wouldn't work we were told they were switching TV services so movies were NOT available. Ugh...horrible experience!!! We will not return to Hotel Fifty! "Within walking distance of river, restaurants, etc"
It was very comfortable. Also, the hotel was easy to find from the freeway, but still quiet, and the area was very nice for walking around after a long drive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The only problem was with our check-in. We arrived early hoping to check in early and were given three different times, making us waste time on a very beautiful day. It would have been better if they hotel had told us our room would not be available until the 4 PM check-in time.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, good location"
We enjoyed our stay. The proximity to the light rail was convenient but a tad bit noisy late at night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Modern city hotel"
Stayed for one night, booked as an Expedia surprise hotel. Great experience! Non-corporate hotel. Very modern bathroom facilities, great bedding, nice view.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is located across the street from the river front park making it easy to walk or in our case bicycle around the park, visit OMSI and downtown. Several good restaurants in the neighborhood, especially Mother's Bistro for breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"in the middle of everything"
Hotel 50 is close to downtown Portland for brew pubs, restaurants and shopping. It's across the street from the Willamette river and its scenic parkway. It's also adjacent to a most excellent light rail system. We fly into Portland Int'l and take the rail from the airport to the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was amazing and very kind at all times. I would go back here again! The location is close to sevaral attractions, shopping and Powell's Books!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Girls Getaway ; A four day stay. First time to P"
We loved this hotel. The rooms were very well appointed, Comfortable beds, nice bathroom. We found the staff here to be excellent, friendly and helpful. The location is outstanding. "on the waterfront near downtown"
Hotel was a surprise. Small enough to provide personal service and walkable to all downtown attractions.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel is on one end of town so it's a decent walk to many places. Service in hotel was great, but room was not. AC did not work properly and room was humid. Parking was $29/night. I would stay on pearl district next time - more centrally located.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was clean and cute, but some things were a bit weird. || 1. The shower was open (not enclosed). There's a glass wall along half of it, as if there were going to be a sliding glass door to cover the other half, but there isn't a door. So the water spills out all over the bathroom floor. I'm not a particularly rambunctious shower-taker! but […] it made a terrible mess each time. It was strange & annoying. || 2. Zero empty outlets next to the beds. So you can't keep your phone by your bedside WHILE charging it... if you want to charge it overnight, it goes on the other side of the room. And you can't sit on the bed using your laptop, if it needs to be plugged in. || 3. When making my reservation, I noted that I would need a rollaway bed. When checking in (early afternoon), I mentioned this to confirm, and they acted flummoxed. They changed the room I was in to better accommodate the extra bed, and they said they'd send one right up. (There was technically room for the bed - in the entryway, right against the door.) We went out for the day, and when we returned past 11 p.m., ready to crash, there was no rollaway bed. I called the front desk, and they said they'd send one RIGHT up. Half an hour later, I called again. RIGHT AWAY, they promised. Eventually it was midnight before the bed arrived and we could go to sleep. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I enjoyed staying at hotel 50. It was a very convenient place to stay with a child as it is close to parks and close to public transportation that took us directly to the other attractions. The Housekeeping personell were great always looking after us since they knew we had a child. The left tissues and water daily and were always helpful whenever we […] needed something (like a plastic spoon for afternoon snacks.) The front desk personell were very knowledgable and were able to guide us as to how to get to places. The hotel restaurant was fine too, we had breakfast every day there and had dinner once. "Couldn't have been more pleased"
I stay in a lot of high end hotels and this one has definitely been o e of my favorites. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The beds had soft and firm pillows for your choice and a very comfortable bed. The windows opened for a nice breeze which was a nice surprise. "Good for business or vacation"
The hotel is clean and nice. Looks like it was remodeled within the last 3 years or so. Staff was courteous and professional. Parking is $24/day in hotel lot, but lot across the street is $11/day. Did not try the restaurant. Right in downtown but near the Willamette river so not quite as noisy as some other options. Walkable to many downtown locations. My friend and I did a get-away weekend and I chose Hotel 50 because it was close to the river. Turns out it was close to everything. the Max line was 1/2 block away and we took it everywhere. "Couples fun 4 day trip !!!"
My boyfriend and I took a 4 day trip to Portland and really looked hard for the perfect hotel. Hotel 50 was awesome! I will say the only downfall is that the rooms are a bit small. We could have cared less but if you will be spending a lot of time in the room, maybe try elsewhere! Bed was so comfy and service was outstanding! The food at the hotel bar […] and restaurant is amazing so try that for sure! So close to everything - we walked or took the tram everywhere. Thanks to other people's reviews we chose this so I hope it helps. Smaller rooms but that's all! Otherwise - great!!!!!!! Thanks hotel 50 Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Exceptional employees, great location, good room."
The hotel staff, particularly the front desk, concierge and bellmen were exceptional. Responsive, friendly and focused on customer satisfaction. The location was perfect: Great view of the river, easy walking distance to all of the things I wanted to do and see in downtown portland, and safe enough to feel comfortable walking about in the late evening […] as I wondered from pub to pub (Kelly's and Kells just to name two). The hotel could use some updating, but the rooms were clean and comfortable. I was attending a 4 day conference at the Hilton, but decided to stay at a boutique hotel nearer the river. I am very glad I did. I would not hesitate to stay there the next time I visit Portland. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel in a great location."
We totally enjoyed our stay at Hotel Fifty. We had booked a Courtyard King room for the three of us (we brought our teenage daughter). Our plans were for her to use a rollaway. When we checked in, they upgraded us to a room with 2 doubles and a view of Waterfront Park, where the Rose Fest was going on. The ferris wheel was just across the street from […] our window, so it created a fun atmosphere for our daughter. We enjoyed being able to walk just 4 blocks to catch the Starlight Parade Saturday evening, and we were able to get to the festivities at the park on Sunday easily. The room was beautifully decorated. Our only problem was that the previous occupants must have rinsed sandy shoes in the shower and there was still some sand residue. The hotel housekeeping promptly cleaned it out while we stepped out for the parade. They also promptly mailed back a stuffed animal that my daughter left behind. Thanks for a great weekend Hotel Fifty! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel close to downtown"
Hotel 50 is a nice hotel and the staff is excellent. It is centrally located to night life and easy access to public transit. It's all very average for a hotel. A couple of complaints: the bathroom in our room was limited... No fan and no tub- shower only and it was a rain shower. Fine, but that is a very specific taste. Valet was super expensive. I […] hate that. It seems like hotel guests should get a discount. Public park across the street- some homeless activity. Oh and our cleaning crew never came. To be fair, we werre on the room when they came by. they just never came back.... and we didnt call. Some good things? Beautiful dining area, nice beds, well laid out rooms. It was nice, but just some picky stuff to be aware of. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel but noisy."
Update hotel with comfortable bed, however, very noisy. We had a City View room which was a big mistake. The room was right about the MAX light rail line. "Great riverfront location"
The hotel was directly in front of the riverfront which made it handy to attend the city fair and walk to the Saturday market. The view of the river was blocked by a big tree, but we did get a glimpse the river. The hotel atmosphere was very art deco/modern, but the room needed repairs to the wall and to some of the furniture. We were wanting to stay in downtown portland with close proximity to the waterfront, and the hotel fifty was perfect. Close proximity to pioneer square and shopping. "I'd stay again."
It was cleaner than another competing hotel we stayed at a few days later. And the staff gave more of an effort overall. Its is close to a lot of stuff great public transit access. Room was clean but somewhat on the small side considering other options in PDX, but as a place to sleep for a few hours, it was fine. Bathroom was clean and little soaps, etc, were of good quality.
