"Great location to explore Portland."
We loved Portland and Hotel Rose was located in the perfect place to explore, shop and eat at wonderful restaurants. The only negative thing is that if you are a light sleeper the city noises may disrupt your sleep. (1 set of earplugs was provided). Great bar and wonderful breakfasts!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Hotel close to the Water"
My wife and I had a great experience at this hotel. Great location near the River. Centrally located for walking or biking around the City. Access to the complimentary bike rentals was a plus! We borrowed the bikes and traveled all over town. The staff was helpful and friendly and the rooms were clean but got a little noisy at night - once or twice […] (maybe noise of light rail or nearby trains). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Find another hotel nearby"
Its a 4 star hotel right? I was dropped off at around 7PM with my two bags, no one to open the door, no bell service. It was okay because there was a handicapped button to push to get the door to open. I was the only person in the lobby, so maybe the person behind the check in desk could have greeted me, as I wasn't certain I was in the right place […] because of the front door issues. The front desk person was polite enough when I approached and I thought I just had a bad start and things would get better. I got to my room and it had a view of a large gray wall and parking garage. Things were okay until the next day and someone pointed out I had toothpaste on the front of my pants---weird. It happened the following day too, Toothpaste on the same place on my pants--I thought it must have been on my folio or something. Not until the 3rd day did I notice some toothpaste in the bathroom on the vertical portion of the sink fixture. Obviously the cleaning staff thought that to clean that surface wasn't necessary. Since it was on a vertical surface, it couldn't have fallen there, it must have been pushed there from the horizontal surface by the cleaning staff and left there. I won't be staying there again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent hotel in SW/Downtown Portland"
Hotel was easily accessible from the airport via train. Walking distance from many Downtown Portland attractions. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable. Complimentary water and coffee in the room. Would definitely stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The Hotel Rose"
The personnel at the Rose Hotel in downtown Portland, OR, are gracious, helpful and knowledgable about the city. Many thanks to Joseph and his dining recommendations and to the staff for allowing us a late checkout. We will definetly be back - and will recommend to everyone!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Loved this place!"
The hotel is centrally located which meant we didn't have to rent a car. We took the MAX to and from the airport and were in walking distance to loads of restaurants, shops, etc. The room was perfect and used space economically but was very comfortable and overlooked the river and park below.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Location location location!"
Across the street from Waterfront Park. A few blocks from downtown shopping. Walking distance to The Pearl, Chinatown and a bus or Max ride to everywhere else. Most reasonable parking rates for hotel patrons. Room was small but nicely appointed and very clean. Very comfortable bed. Our only ding on a straight 5/5 rating was that housekeeping did not […] get to our room until 5:30 on our stay over day. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hotel Rose is really noisy!"
The hotel is located on a busy road and across from a railway line. the soundproofing of the room is terrible, so we had constatnt noise at night. It is really bad - you can even hear peopkle having conversations in the street! We did not get a lot of sleep in the 2 nights we stayed here. I booked as part of an Expedia deal, but got no additional benefits […] - nothing! I could have gotten a better hotel for a lower price, but chose this hotel because of the Expedia deal. I won't make that mistake again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

It was wonderful. A beautiful hotel that was located within close walking distance to everything we wanted to go see.Genuine Expedia guest review
"River location spoiled by homeless."
It would have been perfect but for the fact that wherever we walked near the hotel there were homeless people. This meant that we could never really relax and enjoy Portland. Not the hotel's fault!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Easy access to the center city"
Staff helpful, light rail noisy, but great location, enjoyed our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to everything- waterfront, shopping, train"
Comfortable, quiet, clean. It was convenient to come in/out from airport on the MAX(train) the stop was one block away from hotel. Close to all the things we wanted to see: Waterfront, Pearl District.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location in downtown Portland near the Williamette River. Had a waterfront room overlooking river. Close to the Met light rail. Beautiful downtown area with ample shade from all the beautiful large trees.Genuine Expedia guest review
My daughter and I stayed in Portland for 2 nights in August 2014 for the MLS all-star game. The Rose Hotel was perfectly situated in walking distance to all of the downtown hotspots, and right on the river for bike riding.Genuine Expedia guest review
Weekend trip to Portland for pleasure. Wanted a location with some things around it, and within easy transportation of other areas. This fit the bill.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The Rose is great."
From the time you enter the small but efficient lobby to the opening of your room, the Rose is very nice. The staff works hard to exceed your expectations and the newly updated facilities have been done well. The beds are very comfy and the bathrooms nicely done. I would return anytime. Value and location all in one.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice and Convenient"
We were very pleasantly surprised by how nice and comfortable the hotel is. It is very well located and has an excellent restaurant. I lived in Portland decades ago and remember the hotel as being old and unkempt, but it has been completely remodeled and is very nice now. Well worth the price.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was great, very clean, friendly and helpful staff but our room facing away from the river was noisy. We could hear the train pass every time. Would stay there again but request room on the river side.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel is across the street of the waterfront park, near the Saturday Market, walking distance to shopping and dining. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but rather small. Our room on the third floor had quite a bit of traffic noise. Staff is friendly and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Although the hotel, itself, was clean and well run, I thought it an outrageous amount for what one didn't get ($273+) ... the 3 things that need to be addressed are: (1) free parking should be built in; (2) either a "free" continental b'fast or a substantial amount taken off tab when one eats there; and (3) bed was rock hard....not comfortable. Now...the […] pluses were definitely (1) cleanliness; (2) politeness of staff; and (3) good location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location and excellent service. (Really)!"
Wow! I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Family and I had never been to Portland. No idea what to expect. The hotel is close to the water where you can go on lovely walks, and even ride the clean public transit with a pick up just across the street next to Nordstrom Rack. Staff (both men and women) were really helpful and creative in resolving […] sleeping situation with children on trip. We also dined at the new bar/restaurant which is really swanky. We were able to walk to Voodoo Donuts and ride light rail to the Rose Garden. I wish we didn't bring a car, since this was close to everything. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Rose City stay at Hotel Rose"
Overall, our stay was pleasant enough. The only real criticism we had was that the shower had only a partial glass wall. It didn't extend the entire length of the opening side and had no door, so it was all but unavoidable that taking a shower resulted in a puddle on the floor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I travel almost 9 months out the year and I gladly can say this hotel has made my year in terms of service location and hospitality. Will recommend to my fellow business travelers when in the Portland area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great value for staying downtown"
Price was right but have to keep in mind this is a downtown hotel so rooms are smaller and must pay for parking ($15/night) and also no breakfast. However, coffee maker and fridge in room and Wi-fi was best during our entire trip. Bed comfortable and walk-in shower and bathroom upscale.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Rose at the 4th of July"

"Handy and helpful staff."
It was very enjoyable. Great staff. Garage is very tight.Genuine Expedia guest review
We were stayig in Portland for only one night and wanted to be downtown. The location of Hotel Rose was perfect. The room was tiny and our view was over a parking lot so I would have preferred a better room if we were staying longer. However, the bed was super comfy which is a must when I stay at hotels. Also they are very environmental conscious, which […] is a plus! The hotel restaurant also had great gormet cocktails! We didn't eat there though. The hotel and restaurant staff were very friendly. Overall I would go back if we return to Portland. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The gentlemen at the Hotel desk were helpful. The maid service was horrible and our room was not made up 2 days until after I informed the front desk and after 3:00 in the afternoon. On the second day it was not made up a patron was at the desk after 5:00 with the same complaint and all that was offered was the same excuse I received. They had a lot […] of check our patrons. Totally unacceptable. There are only 5 floors to the entire hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Loved this hotel"
The hotel had a great vibe, and the newly redone bar and restaurant could not have been better. We generally avoid hotel restaurants, but this one was spectacular. Also, the hotel staff were extremely friendly and seemed genuinely proud to work at this hotel. The only thing that might bother some guests is that the air conditioning and heating are centrally […] controlled, so you can only turn the system on or off, but cannot regulate the temperature. "Great Introduction to the City of Portland!"
My Spouse and I had never been to Portland and were so happy we chanced upon this hotel. Rooms are nicely appointed and newly renovated. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant serves some creative and tasty meals - breakfast through late dinner. Best of all? You are walking distance from so many great attractions. We never used a car. […] This was a wonderful way to spend our 23rd Anniversary together. Last note - I saw some sour reviews about renovations - sure if I stayed here during remodeling, it might be a bit of an inconvenience, but I say, be appreciative for the updates! Renovations seem to be done and this is really a gem!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, needs to settle construction."
No parking, due guest and traffic issues in the area. Under construction, still, after several months. Front desk could not help with restaurant recommendation. But - good location, pretty good room, desk is friendly if not especially knowledgable.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Location/ Great Hotel"
I would recommend Hotel Rose. Rooms are small but very nice. Perfect for two people.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Short stay in Portland. Great launch point. Close to the river, easy walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Terrific access to public transportation. Nice bar, great staff. Room was good but we were located beneath the fitness center. Slept through the weights the first night but not the second. Would recommend this hotel but not the room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Freezing cold room until they brought me a heater"
The room was cold when I arrived and was told they don't turn on heat this time of year. Why they turned on the air confuses me. They finally brought me a space heater which warmed the room to 70. The restaurant was nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Calling this hotel a Rose is a disgrace to a rose!"
Walked into a mixed up reservation, was supposed to have two beds, ended up with one and a roll away. The room they gave me was trashed, dirty towels all over, trash on the ground, bed thrashed. Got a different room then had to wait until after 10pm to get the roll away after calling for it three times over an hour. When I asked if I could get a discount […] or something for all the mix ups and waiting, the staff were completely condescending and rude until I spoke to a shift leader, Sarah, and she even said the hotel policy's "suck". I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. Very disappointing when I saw such good reviews, especially with such unwelcoming and unhelpful front desk staff. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Under Construction But Still A Good Stay"
I found the Hotel Rose to be situated in a great place to visit Portland. Just across from the river, just inside downtown, with numerous options for food and drink just blocks away. And with Portland's half-sized blocks, walking to Voodoo Donuts or Powell's is within 10 minutes. The hotel also included free bikes for guest use, fantastic for cruising […] the streets. The lobby and restaurant were under construction at the time, but again, due to the location of the hotel, this was not an issue. The MAX line runs by the hotel, so if you're a light sleeper, that may be an issue (not a problem for me). The ONLY big complaint I would have is the AC did not cool the room down on our last night, so opening the windows became a necessity. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent downtown hotel"
My wife and I came here on our first trip together to Portland over Memorial Day weekend. We wanted to stay downtown to be close to everything. Hotel Rose was a pretty good location. It was on the edge of downtown right by the river. It isn't dead center in the middle of the shopping and restaurants, but it is a short walk or drive to them. The hotel […] itself was not too bad, but nothing amazing. It was clean and the room/bed were very comfortable. The hotel staff was extremely nice and attentive. The decor of the hotel was just kind of meh, but not a big deal. They were doing a remodel in the lobby, so I'm sure that will look better once it is done. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a clean, decent stay in Portland. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
