"Great location to Downtown Portland"
Two blocks from a train stop (which I took from the airport) and easy to walk around downtown Portland. Although having the trains run from 4am -midnight, there is a little bit of noise if you are on that side of the hotel. But the staff was excellent, and the hotel was very new and clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel, Great Location, Very Helpful Staff"
The Rose Hotel is a great place to stay. Located centrally in downtown Portland the shopping district and Chinatown are both easily walkable. It's near great restaurants, entertainment and shopping. It's got a REALLY friendly staff who helped us out and really made us feel at home.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location + WIFI"
Nice. Well located with easy access to/from airport free WI-FI!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Friendly staff and good location"
The front staff and valet were incredibly helpful and The restaurant let us borrow wine glasses to bring up to our room which was nice also. The location was also great, right downtown. Also right across the street is a beautiful waterfront park. Would definetly stay here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel , good location"
I had a great stay at Hotel Rose. I needed a location close to all the sights and this worked perfect.Genuine Expedia guest review
I haven't been to Portland for over 10 years, and didn't know where to stay. Reserving a hotel just based on information off the Internet seemed risky, but in this case it worked out. The location is great in that it is convenient to business locations and across from a waterfront park. The rooms are of a good size and reasonably updated (the building […] is an older building). I would recommend popping for extra for the waterfront view, not only for the view but because there is a trolley car that runs on the back side. The room provided two robes (without asking) an umbrella, and a Keurig coffee maker (with two complementary bottled waters). The only negatives are that the fan on my heating system ran 24/7, but perhaps that is better than it cycling on and off--seems like a real energy waster though. Also the breakfast (Salmon hash w/ poached egg) in the restaurant was only so-so. Self-parking is $15, which if I would have known I might have opted for street parking using the self-pay machines. But overall I would definitely stay there again if I needed a hotel room on that side of the Columbia and would recommend the place to others. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Business trip in Portland, OR"
The hotel location is perfect, walking distance to downtown, river, restaurants, shops. Staff are very knowledgable and friendly. It is very warm and friendly environment. However, hotel is outdated, AC/Heating is not functioning properly, and very noise.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Hotel Rose Good evening jiyise, Thank you for your favorable comments regarding our hotel. Please know that we are in the planning stages of a renovation that will address the issues you mentioned. We hope you return in the spring to see our new look. Thank you. Terry Hanley General Manager
We loved it. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Better than any of the other big name hotels located on the waterfront. Trust me, we have been to a few! We definately recommend Hotel Rose. We wish we would have checked them out earlier.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice Stay For a Birthday"
My boyfriend bought us a night at the Hotel Rose for my 28th birthday. We were working on a budget and based on photos and other reviews we were sold. We were hoping for a riverside view but because we checked in early we had to settle for a south side view. If you want to look out your windows do NOT go south side: it is a concrete wall. Luckily we […] didn't care so much because we spent most of the time enjoying the amazing shower, the unbelievably, never ready to leave bed, and the free HBO (I had an awesome comfy birthday). The only other complaint is that our room was mostly taken up by the bed so it felt a bit cramped. Other than that the ambiance is gorgeous, the staff is very friendly, and there were the most delicious complimentary mini cupcakes in the lobby which we took full advantage of. One more note: there isn't free parking so be aware of that when you arrive. But the location is great: across from Tom McCall Park and within walking distance to anything your heart desires. It is also right on the MAX line if you didn't bring your walking shoes. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Clean, Modern Hotel"
I selected the Hotel Rose based on its location so I could walk to my appointment the next morning. It was a short distance from the MAX light rail stop so schlepping my one piece of luggage from the light rail to the hotel was easy. I found the staff to be very pleasant and on top of things. The room was compact but had everything I needed for a one […] night business stay. The king size bed was comfortable. Room furnishing were all excellent. The only drawback to the hotel was it's proximity to a curve on the light rail. You heard and felt the rumbling from time to time. It was not a huge problem and not unlike some of the other downtown hotels I have stayed in before. It is an urban setting and you are going to get some street noise. The price difference between this hotel and others not far away was a significant savings. I would stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Spent one night there while visiting down town portland. The Hotel is close in walking distance of almost anything you will need.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel across from the Willamette River"
Modern hotel with friendly and accommodating staff. Under new management and transitioning to a remodel. Rooms were nice and comfortable, but the hallway carpets were worn and need to be replaced. Overall a good place to stay with great access to the river esplanade and just blocks to downtown shopping.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great hotel tucked away along the river. Road noise was our only concern. Will definately stay there again. Bikes for guests is a grat idea, but we just didn't have time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Good central, location. Well informed front desk staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
You can't beat the location! Right in the heart of downtown by the waterfront . An easy walk to everything. Room was very nice with all modern amenities, however, lacked in sizeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't forget your sweater!"
I thought this hotel was great except for the fact that you can't control your in-room temperature. It's controlled by the hotel, and I was very cold! They can give you a space heater though so that helps. Never been at a hotel where you can't control the temperature for the room so that was surprising. Otherwise, a very nice stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fancy website = crappy hotel"
Tiny room, chair crammed between bed and window so person on that side can't get out on side of bed. When I called to complain about the lack of heat, I was told that the thermostat was backwards. Even after setting to 50 degrees, only cool air was blowing. Shower soaks the entire bathroom because there is a fixed glass wall that does not prevent the […] spray from soaking the room. Noisy, buses run all night right outside hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great boutique hotel setting"
This was a quick overnight trip to Portland for business reasons. I had stayed in this hotel when it was under the name Hotel Fifty, and had very much enjoyed it. This time was no different. I appreciated the style of the hotel and the rooms, and love the large shower in the bathroom instead of a clunky bathtub. The bed was quite comfortable, and it […] was nice that wireless Internet was not an additional fee. Only thing I missed was having a small refrigerator in the room...and, it was frustrating that nearly every pop machine on every floor was out of soda (!). Otherwise, really quite enjoyable. Walking distance from riverside park, downtown restaurants, start, viewing, and finish of the Portland Marathon. We had some very good meals at their restaurant. Pleasant boutique feel to the hotel. Staff very pleasant.Genuine Expedia guest review
Loved this boutique hotel. A great feature was the pass to 24-Hour Fitness. Only negative: if you are driving, it is tricky finding your way in and out of the front of the hotel due to all the one ways and freeway ramp which is directly in front of the building, an eyesore. We had a king with a balcony, which was large. We looked in on a queen room […] which was quite small. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location but frigid room - 52 degrees"
When I walked into my room cold air was blasting through the vents. I went to turn on the heat and the cold air continued to come out. When I called to the desk, they were telling me that it is an old building and the heat will not come on until the temperate reaches 52 degrees. When I said that I can't be that cold all night, they sent up a personal […] heater that I had to run all night no high. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location and friendly staff"
The location cannot be beat and the new feature of bicycles to use during your stay is a great amenity...especially in Portland. We were able to sleep with the window open most nights...on the two nights when it was a bit loud late at night, it was guests in other rooms, not sounds from outside. The only other issue was that I received an invoice for […] valet parking when I was visiting with no car...the lady at the desk quickly took care of the error. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Service was great and room was in very nice condition. I would stay there again. Great walking distance, only a block from downtown with food and shopping.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff at the hotel was excellent. Hotel was pleasant in appearance with recent (last couple years) renovations. Located on river front the hotel was well located with easy access to everything in city center.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I Love This Hotel"
Great hotel, I highly recommend it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice downtown location"
One thing to note is that because it's right along the river, it's also right along the river parkway. So you either get the nice view plus the noise or no view with less noise. Other than that, the hotel was great and the staff was very nice. They even waived my parking fee which was extremely nice of them.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A little off the beaten path but restful. Delightful staff and a comfortable bedGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Super clean, great location!"
We loved this place! Very comfortable, clean, and nice staff. Right on the River, free bikes, great little bar/bistro. Anyone who rates this hotel bad is just crazy! We would def recommend to anyone.... 5 stars!Genuine Expedia guest review
"A room with open shower, next to the train stop"
Awful...they gave me a room with shower but no curtain or a wall. I had to lay towels all around. My room was right next to the major train stops so every 10 minutes, I heard a roaring sound of a train and a screeching sound of a brake. In the bathroom, sounds echoed and bounced all around. It ran almost all night so I only slept about 5 hours max. […] I figured this is what I paid for so I stayed but if there is next time, I will definitely stay away from this room. Best thing about this hotel was the location. Walked to major shopping areas and train takes you to OCC and PDX. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms are clean and nice however very small. It was a warm day on our stay so our room very warm. There is no A/C or fan. We had to open the windows to get a breeze by doing that you get all the city traffic noise. We were woken up very early to city landscapers using leafblowers. Hotel is clean for being older but not worth the high price we paid. […] I paid the higher price for a special getaway and would have rather saved it and went to a cheaper place. "Nice downtown hotel close to MAX, river, shops"
Although the room was smaller than I expected for the price, it was clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom and shower. From the website I mistakenly thought it was a river view, but it is just a short walk to the riverfront. The convenience of the location was key as it is 1 block from MAX, and close to downtown shops, restaurants, Sat. market, […] and riverboat tours. The con was that same closeness to the MAX rails also made it noisy if you are a light sleeper, but it was worth it for me. To only have to pay $2.50 for transport to the airport via MAX was fabulous! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very close quarters"
Overall the location of the hotel was within walking distance of downtown Portland. Close to shopping, food and transportation. The waterfront was right across the street. The hotel staff was very nice and efficient. Just be aware that the rooms are very small. If you travel with a lot of items, then your room may feel cramped. There was barely any […] room for the chair in our room; it was right next to my side of the bed so I had to carefully squeeze by every morning so as not to stub my toes into it. We have stayed at these properties in seattle and they were amazing and gorgeous. The reson u booked the rose hotel. It was very disappointing. "Expensive for what you get."
We enjoy Hotel Rose (formerly Hotel 50) because of the location. The restaurant is very good and their Happy Hour is fantastic. Where can you get 6 plump oysters on the half shell for $6? If you are a light sleeper or want a quiet room make sure you are on an upper floor on the river side. The Trolly roars right by the Hotel on 1st street and is quite […] loud. The Marriott is about 6 blocks south as an alternative and is less expensive. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice city center hotel"
Some rough spots transitioning under new ownership from Hotel Fifty to Hotel Rose. We booked a room with king size bed, but they put us in a 2 double bed room initially. Other guests had the same problem later in our week there. Air conditioning is an old system that is either ice cold or off. Staff did provide us a space heater when we mentioned this […] (and told us, ironically, to turn the thermostat to the lowest temp possible), and the problem was solved. Hotel sits above its own self-park lot. Normally $15/day, we appeared to have been comped on this for our trouble. Great location by the Morrison Bridge. Can walk around much of Portland (our only drive in town was to Rose Garden). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is a really nice hotel. The front desk staff was super friendly. I loved the shower head!!! My room had a great view of the river. I just wish there was more light in the bathroom and I knew how to work the thermostat. It seemed like when I turned it up, it got colder in the room. Odd. I also wish there was an ice machine instead of ice cubes in […] plastic bags in freezers. The cubes ended up sticking to each other so I had to break them up with the remote. Noisy intersection. "Valet" parking expensive and often car left outside. Staff nice but overpriced property. Homeless camp right across the street. GptGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed here the night before we left Portland on a 5:30am flight. Location was super convienient, right by entrance to I-5 & I-84. Also walking distance to food and shopping. Staff was VERY helpful with directions and local information. Hotel and rooms were very hip design-wise and spotless to boot. Great place for home base in downtown Portland!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"We have stayed at this hotel twice."
This hotel is in a great location. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. It does not have all the amenities of a five star hotel, however it is very stylish. The restaurant and bar and fun for late evening and breakfast. This is a great hotel for couples and young adults. I'm not sure I'd recommend this for young families.Genuine Expedia guest review
I stayed at the Rose with my boyfriend and friend for a night while in Portland and it was perfect for what we wanted. We just wanted a place where we could walk to local bars and experience night life. We were also right across from the river so we could walk across the street and take a nice walk along the river. They also had free coffee and lemon […] cakes throughout the day in the lobby and that was fun. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I'll start by saying this place was not terrible, as it had a comfortable bed and was clean. It just felt overpriced for what it is. The room was loud from noises in the hallway and from the traffic outside. All night. The room was cramped. Lousy parking experience. I paid for parking privileges, but one night I returned to find the garage full, evidently […] due to many unauthorized vehicles parked in the lot. The hotel staff proposed by that I should just park illegally in the handicapped parking spot (it had a prominently displayed "$$$ fine" sign) because they thought the Portland Police would "probably not" come by to ticket until morning. "Great Hotel in the Heart of Downtown"
My significant other and I stayed at The Rose Hotel for five nights. Overall, our stay was very pleasant. Being in downtown, the hotel is located in the heart of the city. If their are other things you need to see, their are eastbound and westbound train stations that will get you where you need to go. Our room was a courtyard King and had very little […] train noise interfering with our sleep. We are used to noise however since we live in DC. I could see how it would irritate other guests. Housekeeping maintained the cleanliness of the room very well and respected our privacy. The rooms are on the small side, but makes up for it with nice comfortable beds and modern and sleek bathrooms. The only negatives of our stay were that one of the two elevators was out of service and it took some time to get out and in the hotel. Secondly, the TV in our room did not have HD. "Comfort and convenience"
The staff was very helpful, the restaurant was exceptional, the location was perfect. They even provided bicycles!
