"Good for the price"
The location and all were good. Some type of maintenance started early Saturday morning which was very bad. Other than that, all good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great weekend getaway"
For my boyfriends bday, it's now a tradition to go to Portland for the weekend. I decided to try Hotel Fifty out this time around bc hotels.com had a deal on it. I was able to check-in earlier, which was very convenient. The front desk was always helpful when I asked for something ( I felt like I always bothered them, lol). The room was very nice... […] comfy & BIG bed. Nice TV, cute bathroom, etc. My only "complaint" was that my view was the parking lot, but too be honest I am don't care too much. I had a good time around Portland for a Blazers vs. Clippers game, some shopping, and trying downtown restaurants. I definitely would suggest this hotel to my family & friends! "Nice weekend in Portland."
Everyone at the hotel was very nice, and upbeat. I didn't really make use of the hotel for more than a place to stay, but the internet service was certainly fast enough to upload a few photos of the trip. Also, when I arrived earlier than normal check-in time, the front desk personnel worked to ensure a room was ready for me to drop my bags in. Not […] only that, he upgraded me to a river view room. (Nice view of the Willamette River from the fifth floor.) One suggestion: When checking in with a prepaid reservation through a service like Expedia, it would be nice if the hotel informed guests that they would still see a hold of $50 per night booked for incidental charges. I didn't have an issue on my end, but someone travelling on a budget, and staying longer than my two nights, might have run into trouble. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Staff can't run a credit card machine!"
This is a very lovely hotel although a bit on the pricey side, especially when they charge you twice! I've stayed twice and both times I've been double charged and the manager is never around to help sort out the financial problem! It's nt worth the hassle. I won't be going back here.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice spot to rest up"
Hotel was great. Location was perfect - lots of stuff witnin easy walking distance. MAX train access just around the corner. Fresh newspapers available each morning. Pretty fresh remodel of property. Good happy hour choices in the bar. Parking was expensive but there were very good alternative parking choices right across the street. I'd do it agai […] n... "Not worth the price!"
This was our first, and last, stay at the Hotel Fifty. There are major issues with the heating in this hotel. You have to turn the heater all the way UP too turn it off. There is no level of temperature comfort in the rooms at the Hotel Fifty; it is either WAY too hot or way too cold. We were particularly disappointed with the "city view" room for […] the price, which overlooked the Max (light rail) track. The train goes by every few minutes, and besides being loud, it makes the entire room shake. The walls are VERY thin here, and we had to listen to obnoxious guests next door having sex and banging against the walls for hours while we were trying to sleep. In addition, the room and bathroom was not particularly clean; there was a rusty, dirty access door underneath the sink counter in the bathroom that covered up who knows what, and all of the walls had black greasy scuffs on them. The glass shower was wide open, and did not have a closable door, so consequently, water leaked all over the floor. The hallway was dark and smelled like old dusty carpeting, and since something in the hotel gave me a major allergy attack right as we entered the hallway, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the musty old carpet. Basically, this place appeared as an old low-end hotel that was reformatted in an attempt to have a younger hipster vibe, without any of the quality I would expect for a hotel of this price or location. There are many beautiful hotels in Portland. This is not one of them. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great for NYE"
Rented a nice room for New Years Eve with a river view to watch the fire works. Spoiler alert: there are no fireworks downtown Portland for New Years. Even that didn't ruin the night. Location is great, view of the river was great, the rooms are small but very nice and staff was great too. Self parking is a bit expensive at $24 and my truck was almost […] too big for the lot (6' max height I think). I would go back but I probably would no get the river view. The price difference between the two is too much, the city view rooms would be a great deal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient to downtown Portland"
Good location if you wish to walk downtown Portland. Powell's Books is twenty minutes away, and Voodoo donuts is about ten minutes. There are also plenty of food carts in the area. This is an older hotel, but the beds are quite nice. Room cleaning was slow. Our room sometime wasn't cleaned by the time we came back from walking around (3:30 pm). Also, […] the self-parking fee is now $24 per night, not the $22 as indicated. The complimentary health club (Bally's) a couple of blocks away is no longer in operation either. All in all a nice place to be based, but definitely not a "destination" hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Old but New and the center of the city."
Hotel 50 is a tastful bit of a revamped Best Western with a great view. Everything was perfect from service to amenities. The restaurant and staff were pleasant and the portions of food were just the right side. I stayed at the Marriot on Broadway for two of my four night and there I had no cell phone reception in my room and they charged $2.75 per […] hour for wifi. For the same price at the Marriot I had one of the best rooms at Hotel 50 without extra charges. Thank you for your support of the LGTB Community as well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Poor customer service from Restaurant Manager."
Only negative was the restaurant manager ignored us while we waited in the bar for a drink for over ten minutes. He was talking to an attractive female for several minutes about something business related but never acknowleged us or sent any staff our way. He then got two wine glasses from beside the bar and left never to return, we finally got up and […] left after at least 15 minutes with no service. We also got ignored twice by the valet while trying to get our car. The front desk and wait staff were excellent so I dont know why customer service isnt good throughout the Hotel. "unpretentious but very pleasing for budget price"
Unpretentious hotel has super nice friendly a.s knowledgeable staff. Not fancy but have all amenities and comfortable beds. Dining room always serves good food.Genuine Expedia guest review
I thought Hotel Fifty was a wonderful hotel. A friend and I stayed during a girls weekends, and we were very pleased. It is only a block away from the train station, multiple restaurants were within a few blocks, and the Pioneer Mall was only a few blocks away. The rooms were very comfortable, although a little small. I have never stayed somewhere with […] such an exceptional staff. The only thing I wished for was a gym in the hotel. They did give us free passes to a gym nearby, however. Overall this is a GREAT place to stay and highly recommend. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, great staff, but kind of noisy."
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was rather small and the bathroom tiny, but very modern and very clean. The ventilation system was very noisy, there was a clicking sound in the pipes at night and it's right on a major street, so noise was a problem. Location was excellent for being downtown and getting to the Rose Garde, so in spite […] of the noise factor, it was a great place to stay! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great place to stay!"
We loved Hotel 50; however, we were on the 3rd floor and on Thanksgiving evening between 2 and 5 a.m., there were loud voices that kept me awake. We couldn't tell where they were coming from until the next day when we discovered the employee break room was down the hall and they had not shut the door. It was very loud and very annoying. It was only […] that night and the rest of the stay was wonderful. That is the only reason I gave the "4" ratings. Other than that, it was great. I would stay there again and definitely just get up and ask staff to shut the door or be quieter! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to everything downtown"
Most comfortable bed ever, nice TV and spacious room. One block from the light rail.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Go for the river view rooms, not city view."
My only complaint is that I opted for a room with a 'city view', and my view was actually of the hotel parking lot. But it's only a 4 or 5 story hotel, so 'view' is kind of misleading. The service at the front desk was exceptional, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom in my room was awesome.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good location and value for the money1"
Hotel is across the street from the river on Morrison St.. Convenient location which is 2 blocks from accessing the light rail trains and easy walking distance to downtown shopping, bars and restaurants. Room is well appointed but on the small side. Staff is friendly and helpful and hotel has a modern feel for an older building. Biggest drawback is […] the noise from the street cars but still thought the hotel was a good value for the money. "Great hotel for downtown Portland visitors"
We really appreciated the central location of the hotel - walking distance from all downtown attractions and Tom McCall Park and convenient to all forms of public transportation. The meals served at the restaurant were excellent. The bed in our room was very comfortable and at night, it was surprisingly quiet. Our only regret was that there was no […] microwave. "Good stay."
Was on business trip. Had a good stay. Bit expensive, but conviniently located in downtown near good public transportation spots.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Overpriced by a long shot"
Our room was SO small- we spent our visit jockeying around each other and stumbling over furniture. The "city view" was actually a view of the Morrison Bridge on ramp, and included regular passings of emergency vehicles with sirens ablare. The room temp. was freezing- we kept the window open (noisy) for warmth. Parking our car was an EXTRA $24.00- ridiculous! […] Amenities were nonexistent, unless you count the free newspaper. This room was overpriced by at least $50- maybe more. We will not stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beware of noise from light rail train"
My room on the top floor, right above the light rail train tracks which goes by every 10-15 minutes. Especially annoying when trying to go to sleep. Other than that, I liked the hotel so, if you stay here, ask to be put in a room at the opposite end of the hallway, as far away from the light rail as possible.Genuine Expedia guest review
The doorman was very helpful, pleasant and accommodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not as advertised"
We paid for a balcony on the riverfront. We got a balcony on the interstate. So noisy we had to keep the door closed. Room was hot tho' AC was set at 60.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Almost Perfect"
Nearly everything about this place is great - style, friendly service, comfortable amenities, great bar and restaurant. However, even though I was on the top (5th) floor, the noise from traffic and especially the street cars, made it very difficult to get a good night's sleep. And I would imagine the lower floors would be even worse.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for Everyone"
Great location with a gorgeous view. Parking is separate (and expensive), granted that it is downtown, but it's acceptable. Staff is extremely helpful. This seems to be a contracted airline hotel so there are always flight attendants and pilots going in and out.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Hotel has it ALL!"
Loved staying here! A modern and comfortable decor with a super friendly staff. I liked that the hotel parking lot is connected, making it convenient. Location is fantastic! The waterfront park is across the street making a wonderful view from the dining area and we were able to walk everywhere we needed to go: Portland Saturday Market, lots of food […] choices, Pioneer Place and even Pioneer Square, just to name a few. Highly recommend staying here. I will definitely be back! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
