It doesn't matter if you select nonsmoking, you'll be given that. It will smell like an ashtray and you'll contemplate sleeping in your car. "Good for One Night"

Room was sufficient for an overnight visit. Room's carpet was in need of cleaning. This is a "bare bones" hotel. Was in a safe neighborhood and close to the Opry Mills Mall which was good. "Next to an 8-lane interstate!"
My choices upon check in were a smoking room OR a room on the side with an 8-lane interstate (and very thin sliding glass doors in the room). "Nice option just outside of downtown"
The hotel was very nice, the room was clean and the breakfast was good. We didn't really have any problems to need to deal with the service much. Some of the front desk staff could have been a little friendlier, but overall they were nice. The hotel is a $20 one-way cab ride from downtown, but there is also a shuttle that runs every hour that is $10 […] round-trip. "Ok for what it is"
Hotels in Nashville downtown are expensive so we opted to try this one. Its basically what you'd expect. No real complaints other than the array of cabs they get for you. "Not a good experience"
Unfortunately, this was not a good experience. I have stayed at other La Quintas and always had a positive experience. This was not the case in Nashville. I found the facility very dirty. The curtains in the lobby and breakfast room has dead insects on them. The hall way carpets were badly stained and in need of a good vacuum. Many areas, including […] my room smelled like stale smoke and dogs. There was hair and mold in both the shower and sink. The shower curtain had a film along the top. The towels were vary thin and some had grey/black streaks on them. The staff at the desk were not friendly. They appeared very overworked, answering phones, checking out guests and answering questions all at the same time. The hotel is not conveniently located to anything. You will need a car to get to a market, pharmacy or bank. If you need a taxi, you should arrange it yourself. One desk person must have a connection with a shuttle company because all week a taxi ride cost $10 but when the desk arranged it, the driver tried to charge me $30. I confronted him about not turning on the meter then he agreed to the usual $10....this could be a coincidence but it happened again later that day, with my colleague. This is not a place I will choose to stay ever. The staff did not display southern hospitality. "LaQuinta stay vacationing in Nashville"
This is an easy on, easy off 4 mile access to downtown Broadway. It took just a few minutes to get downtown where you will find almost everything. Easy access to OpryLand also, which you must see. Room was tasteful, pleasant, plenty of toiletries and towels, etc., balcony room for 2 chairs, noise was hardly noticeable even though right next to interstate […] and by airport. Breakfast included, although somewhat limited selection, but enough to feed you. We got this room on Expedia for less than $85/night for a Thur. - Sat., and a little higher with fees and taxes for Sun. , an add on where we didn't have to change rooms. The fridge didn't work (even after maintenance claimed to have fixed it) and ruined the snacks we brought, but to the hotels credit they took the amount to replace them off of my bill. The pool could be cleaner but the kids enjoyed it. The ladies that work in the afternoon and evenings were a joy and great examples of customer service. I thought perhaps it was just us, so I watched during breakfast a couple of mornings and noticed it was a habit in general. The room was nice enough. It's not five star but I didn't pay five star prices so I didn't expect it to be. It does allow pets but I was never disturbed by barking, which surprised me with the number of animals we saw. Breakfast was nice. I wish they'd have multiple flavors of yogurts out instead of one per day. I heard others grumbling, so while it's a minor thing it's an easy fix and worth mentioning. My son had an injury at a soccer camp & I was in Vandy ER until 2:30 am. Because we were 3 hours from home, I had to find a hotel with an injured 17 year old & two other teenagers. For what we payed, this hotel was not worth it. Dirty, smelly, and the pool was not open the one day we were there. The only thing we enjoyed during our visit was the Belgium waffle maker at breakfast. That's it. We staying in this hotel 3 nights over a period of the last 10 days. Let me say the rooms are clean and staff was always nice. But, unfortunately this is not the only basis for a good nights stay. "Unsatisfied and Unhappy"
I stayed for one night and it was horrible! I was overcharged for a room, called the night audit who was EXTREMELY RUDE to me & told me to call hotels.com, which I did and they told me to talk to the hotel! Finally, hotels.com called the hotel to sort it out, but I was charged AGAIN for the correct amount and the overcharge is still pending on my account. […] I not only did not authorize another charge on my card, but it wasn't even my mistake! There was no handle or lock on the balcony and ANYONE could have come into the room. We did not see it until we opened the windows the next morning. The room smelled and was not clean. Our accessible room request was not honored even though I booked over a month in advance! "Last place in Nashville to stay"
This was the last hotel room in Nashville that was available. We had reservations at another hotel which was overbooked and they sold our room. We called Hotels.com and the only available room that they had was here at the Howard Johnson. The guy was nice at the front desk and they gave us a newly remodled room. Unfortunately, the toilet was overflowing […] when we went into the room and the carpet was completely flooded. It wasn't bad for the price... For how much Nashville rooms cost you get what you pay for at this hotel. The rooms are a little small making the walk way by the beds a little narrow. "Better than some, not as good as others."
We were just passing though and needed a place to spend the night with our small dog. La Quinta Inns are great for travelers with pets! They have a dog area and don't charge a fee. This hotel was an older hotel, but well taken care of for the most part. The beds were comfortable, but fulls not queens. The room was small but adequate. We had a balcony […] room facing the freeway so it was really noisy all night. I'm a lighter sleeper so I could hear the traffic through the sliding door. The worst part was noticing all of the mold growing up and down the shower curtain! That was gross! For $100, I would look around for maybe another hotel that had a little larger room and queen beds.
