Hotel lobby and staff are great. They are currently in the process of updating the hotel. Unfortunate that our room was not updated in the last at least thirty years. If you can get an updated room stay. I would give this place another try in a few years in a new room.

The room was very clean and kept up; it had been recently refurbished and looked super; the decor was pleasing and relaxing. All lnnens were white; down feather pillows and covers were very confortable . House keeping service was fast (we requested additional pillows).The room location faced the main street (no car traffic) and it was a bit noisy but […] the double pane windows blocked most of the noise; this did not bother us too much but we were told that the court yard facing rooms were quieter. The hallways were being remodeled at the time of our stay but it was not an inconvenience. The breakfast was good and plentiful with hot and cold items and the breakfast area/restaurant area was nice and well decorated. The staff was SUPER helpful and pleasing and were all dressed in typical bavarian costumes. The hotel location was a few steps from the train station with all kind of shops and restaurants in an all pedestrian area that spans over a mile. The hotel is understaffed. I waited 25 minutes to check out. There was only one person at the reception and he was dealing with a customer for 25 minutes. This was all on top of an awful night of sleep with no air conditioning and some construction and drilling happening on the first floor at 6:30 in the morning! I loved this hotel. I was travelling with my 21-year old daughter. We wanted convenience but mainly were going to Neuschwanstein Castle and needed a place to stay in Munich. Hotel is across the street from the Central Railway Station so we were able to walk from our train. It's on a pedestrian walkway with shops/restaurants/cafes. The staff/reception […] were extremely helpful, warm, friendly. My daughter speaks German but they wanted to speak English! Our room was spacious, twin beds and large seating area. I read some reviews that it's noisy. It was noisy but not unbearably. We got an amazing low rate for our very large room but on a busy side. You can pay more for quiet but this really was fine. It quiets down by 11pm and we were there Fri/Sat nights. Items in the mini-bar were for purchase for one euro each-very inexpensive. Bathroom was luxurious with nice toiletries, lighted makeup mirror, and deep European tub. Someone wrote that the carpet in the hallway needs to be replaced, but everything is so pretty and vintage old European, it didn't bother us. They had a professional photo-shoot going on in the lobby. We were disappointed that the famous wine bar was closed for Easter break. Subway station is right outside the hotel but we easily walked to Marionplatz and other tourist sites. We took Gray Line-Grand Castles tour which was extremely enjoyable--rendezvous point was just outside the hotel. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it! Read more

A very good hotel at a surprisingly good location. Whilst close to the railway there is none of the usual problems surrounding such locations. The hotel is also in easy walking distance or 5 minutes from he central area of Munich.

Surprisingly spacious, especially for an inner city Euro-hotel. Well appointed and a great location - right across the road from the Munich Hauptbahnhof and a short stroll to Marion Platz. The only word of warning is that the opposite direction to Marion Platz takes you into the centre of what looks like a sex-toy mall, fun for liberal gown-ups perhaps, […] but it might result in a few awkward questions on the walk back to the hotel. The hotel was tastefully decorated & clean. They were doing renovations so it was quite a shock when the elevator door opened on our floor as all we saw was concrete floors and patched walls, it would have been nice to be informed beforehand it might not have been such a shock. Breakfast very expensive, unless […] you enjoy a big breakfast do not have breakfast at hotel, charged 20 euros per person to have coffee and two slices of toast. Very expensive for what we ate. We were not too impressed when we placed "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door only to find that they ignored the sign and entered the room anyway. Unfortunately hotel in the wrong location, it is right near the train station which is convenient for travel but unfortunately it attract all the drunks and smells of urine round the area. They seem to loiter around the little plaza out the front of the hotel, so you have to keep the windows closed because of the noise from outside, not that this helped. We found the only way to drown out the noise was to leave the TV going all night. Unfortunately there was no air conditioning which made the room quite stuffy because you couldn't open the windows to let air in. We complained to reception staff but they said unfortunately they could do nothing about it as there was a club up the road. I personally would not stay at this hotel ever again because of that reason which is a shame as the hotel and staff were very nice. Read more

i could not fault the Excelsior Hotel in any way other than the outside noise which was really bad & went on till 6am in the morning obviously a Saturday night is noisier on the streets outside the hotel. Also the view outside our window was looking out to a wall & a bricked up window.Ps we were on the top floor. Other than that no complaints'

Fabulous hotel for short city break. Conveniently located right near the main station (Haupfbanhoff) and walking distance to most sights in the centre of Munich. Also, it's a 2 min walk to the meeting for bus tours, which you can book through Viator.com (eg., Gray Lines) -- so day trips outside of Munich are also very easy from this hotel. Very nice hotel, and whilst close to the train station it is in a pedestrian zone and not at all a typical "train station area". Only problem with the room was the pillows - feather down - which I solved by folding in two (they don't seem to have decent think pillows in Germany). Hotellet ligger nær jernbanesatasjonen, og på vei mot Münchens sentrum. Personalet var trivelig og imøtekommende, og rommet rent og pent. En del av møblementet har nok stått på rommet i en del år, men det trakk ikke særlig ned likevel. Sannsynligheten er stor for at jeg bor på dette hotellet neste gang jeg er i München.

シングル4泊、wifiと朝食込で宿泊しました。 部屋もバスルームも非常に広く、アメニティも充実していました。タオル交換、バスローブも毎日交換してもらえ、非常に気持ちよく使う事が出来ました。 中央駅から近く、カールスプラッツ駅にも近く、スーパーは２軒隣にあり、食べるところには全く困りませんでした。 朝食はほぼ毎日同じ内容のビュッフェです。種類はそんなに豊富ではないので、朝食がついていないプランで宿泊される場合は外で食べた方が良いと思います。何せ２０ユーロもするので。 円高ユーロ安の時期に日本円で予約したため、非常に安く予約できましたが、今後はこんなに安く泊まれないな～と思いつつ、次回ミュンヘンに行く際はまた泊まりたいと思います。
