Upon arrival, my card key didn't work. The manager had to get me another one (the main office is across the street, mind you).--my original stay was for two nights, when I asked about staying another two nights, I was told they were full. I went right to hotels.com and found the same type of room at the same rate at the hotel, when I pointed this out to management, they told me they had a room for me. -- The next day, I left for two hours and returned to find my room made up (good), but no towels (bad). I called the desk and said I was leaving for two hours again, could I have some towels (note: you only get one bath towel, two hand towels and two wash cloths to begin with). when I returned, there were no towels. I walked across the street to get some, then my room key didn't work (as witnessed by a friend of mine). I went across the street twice, finally the manager came and he got it to work. Later, the maid walked into my room without knocking -- I wasn't wearing any clothes and I wasn't alone in bed. Enough said. -- the AC is in the bathroom -- the room is tiny (but I've seen smaller) -- the hallway carpet is filthy --the room, however was clean

This was not a good experience at all. The room was exceptionally small. It was very difficult to walk around the bed. On my initial observation I saw holes and stains on the bed spread. So I just pulled the covers back, hoping out of sight out of mind. Unfortunately that did not work. The sheets were even worse. There were curly hairs on the sheets and a 4 inch round spot. I hoped it was just a worn spot until I touched it, and it was crusty. I Scrubbed my hands and called the front desk, asking for a change of sheets. The maid came and gave me very hard time for the request, saying it was a wear spot. I insisted that worn sheets are soft, not crusty. And insisted that they be changed. She complied, but was unfriendly about it. Also the bathroom fixtures were coming out of the walls, and the water pressure was horrid. Please, please, please... find a different place to stay.

Great room for the price and also the convenience to downtown (2 blks). The room exceeded expectations- very tasteful furniture, pleasant room decor and bed coverings. The hotel manager was working the front desk alone and was absolutely great. Only cons were: no mini fridge/microwave, bathroom exhaust fan made horrible noise, and neighborhood a bit on the edgier side.

The air conditioning did not work. It is in a bad part of town. Help from the front desk was nonexistent. When you would ask for some help about the door, you were told that it was impossible that the door could just be pushed open. The service was very demeaning.

While a few reviews I read when searching complained "not close to BART" I found the appx 3 block distance not a big deal. The Civic Center BART station was perfect in relation to this hotel. The neighborhood while being (in) SOMO was not "bad" or loud at night. The area was clean and I didn't see "bad people" loitering around nor did I feel unsafe at any point. The hotel itself is a former chain property and the main bldg where my room was located was/appeared well maintained and clean. The room was not large but had plenty of room to move about and was clean and comfortable. The style of the bldg was nice with an open center type of courtyard feel to it. The staff was helpful, courteous and friendly. The property proved to be a good choice in regards to location to other points in the city and for my needs this trip.

Great value: clean, comfortable room, right in SF. Room is small, but so is price. I had to get a second room for myself (was sharing with family), and they didn't give me a bath towel, which is a small smudge, but I got one from the desk. My only complaint is that there is no elevator in the second building, and there was no internet signal in our first room. It is near the infamous Tenderloin of SF, but it's really not a big deal. It is a safe area. It was difficult to find a decent breakfast place, though.

The downside of the room, no trim on the bottom of the door so it was a little cold but the heater worked fine. The TV was kinda weak, reception was sad but it did have one channel HBO. Overall you could do a lot worse for the same price on a bargain room. If the price was higher/market rate I would look else where first, but if it was the only room in town it I would be OK with that.
