We couldn't have asked for a better location for the price. Although we did get charged a little too much by hotels.com because originally we were going to have 4 adults in a room and ended up with only 3, but hotels.com still charged us for 4 people, which was an extra $40 on our bill. OVerall great room and location for the price. It could only be better if the price of the room was $50 per night. Then it would be hands down the best place to stay for the price.

Ugh!. i compained again in the morning / upon checkout, and was told "what would you have liked us to do?" my answer; 6hrs. of my life back. not worth the money, other hotels nearby that are better!. this is a party hotel.

The location was great, if a wee bit off of the boardwalk. Still it made for a nice walk to and from destinations inside San Diego's downtown.

Room was very clean. Seemed dated with some minor updates. I travel a bit for work and a good shower in the morning is a key point with a hotel for me. I give this one about a 2 out of 5. We ended up in a room nearest the road passing the hotel. Not bad at night but quite noisy in the morning. Luckily we were on the top floor which helped reduce the noise some. Overall OK. Not far from the Gaslamp which was the main reason we chose it.

Overall the hotel was what I expected. The rooms are nothing special..just your typical motel/hotel room but it was clean and did have a refrigerator. The sauna was not in service and the jacuzzi was very small. During our stay we were woken by a loud fight in the parking lot and unfortuantely nothing was done about it by the management on site. However, there was a descent standard continental no-frills breakfast in the morning and we did have free parking. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be in a short walking distance of downtown and is using the hotel for nothing more than a place to sleep.

We chose this hotel because it was relatively close to PETCO Park and relatively inexpensive. We got exactly what we expected. It is a nice hotel but not one you'd rave about in your blog. Though others had complained about difficult parking I found a great spot among many at 11pm. Our first few moments with the night manager didn't bode well though. We walked in and he didn't look up. I waited while he studied some papers on the moments before receiving a gruff "Yes?" as if I was supposed to have known to start talking to the top of his head. Still without looking up he did his job and checked us in, writing the password for the WiFi on the back of the paper envelope enclosing our keycards. The room was clean and comfortable with a desk, round table with 2 chairs, and king bed. The TV, as usual, was in a cabinet containing the dresser drawers. The bathroom was unremarkable except for having one of those bowed-out curtain rods that made the shower extra spacious. A nice surprise was a balcony. It wasn't the best view, down an urban tunnel, but it was nice to be able to step out for some fresh air. For better or worse the hotel is atop Cortez Hill. That means nice views and always walking uphill on your way back. There was a dearth of interesting restaurants within walking distance but a quaint cafe around the corner (Sole Luna Cafe) sufficed for breakfast both days and a number of fast food chains could be found nearby. We walked towards Horton Plaza for some touristy stuff on Saturday and traveled through some sketchy areas we'd rather have avoided. I think that would have possible to do that had we gone a little further across Ash before going down the hill. At one corner I pulled my wife across the street on a DON'T WALK when a homeless man began urinating on the bush next to us. But those are found in any downtown area. Our stay ended on a positive. We were in town for a World Baseball Classic game at PETCO Park. While checking out I asked the day manager i

I would just have to say that in the future I will completely avoid this hotel. The parking was horrendus if you have an SUV or truck don't plan on parking easily in the lot. The stalls are extremely small. We parked else where to avoid damage to our car. The continental breakfast consist of juice and coffee. We would have brought things with us as we sometimes do when we have a fridge in the room. We didn't because it listed breakfast, which was nothing but liquid. My husband did say there was a pieces of bread in a plastic wrapping that you could have toasted but they were stale and there was nothing to dress your toast with. The room itself was gross. The floor had little dips all over under the carpet. The screen door had holes all over so even if you wanted to open your door, you couldn't. The walls are paper thin for two days we listened all sides of us and above TVs, people talking, walking ... The nieghbor next to us, came through our balcony and was knocking on our door, then asking my husband if he came alone. The wall paper was coming off the walls. When the bath was turned on a large amount of brown water came out. When we went down to the desk to question the WIFI, my husband was passed by twice to help other people when they had just walked in when he had been waiting. This hotel compared to some of the oustanding ones I have been to, shouldn't even be $50 a night. It was gross! I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. There were no toiletries except one small soap and some cups. No information around the room at all about the city. It was just a bad gross experience.

It's about 1 mile from the docks, Balboa Park, and the Gas Lamp district, depending on which way you go. I stayed with no car and used a bicycle and my two legs to get where I wanted to go and I had no issues at all. There was a lot of construction going on in the area, but noise was never an issue. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a cheaper alternative to the closer hotels. Just be prepared to take a few minutes longer to get to your locations!
