Don't try to check in early! Couldn't get in a minute before 3! Sat in the lobby for an hour. Great room, very clean and nice size. Did have some drilling going on on a Sunday afternoon! The Lexington should be closed until they completely finish their renovations. The rooms that haven't been renovated yet have plaster crumbling from the walls and ceilings, very old furniture, and the shower was so small I could barely turn around. All this to say that I have no idea what the renovated rooms look like, but the front desk was keen to […] tell me they were undergoing renovations. Therefore I assume from the state of the room I was in, that must have been a pre-renovated room. That and the fact that we checked in after 11pm, so there was no food anywhere on the property -- no room service (which by the way is not available at any time), no restaurant, no mini-bar or even hall vending machines. I never thought I would be asking for a hotel to have at least a vending machine in NYC... It's a safe place and nicer, than say, a Howard Johnson's or Quality Inn, but overall a big disappointment. Our check-in was delayed by about an hour. Housekeeping needs more training re minimizing their chats while at work. We booked two rooms and one of them was available at check-in time, so we stayed in the other room while waiting... I saw housekeeping staff chit-chatting at work on the floor we were in while guests waited anxiously at the lobby. Bartender […] refused to increase volume of the tv in the bar when he toned it down and requested by my wife to revert it to previous level. She was following a significant news story. He sounded like a boss instead of being tactful to clients as expected of a hotel employee. My wife should know. I think this hotel is way overpriced for the atrocity that is really is... I've stayed here for about a week on several occasions throughout the year and each time it's the same exact thing.... Each room is equipped with a VERY LOUD, EAR PIERCING alarm, that is used in case of emergency or fires. Well the problem is, EVERY SINGLE MORNING during my current […] and previous stays at this hotel, the alarm went off.... There is absolutely nothing worse than waking up to the loudest most a noxious sound you can imagine, every single morning... It goes on like that for about 20 minutes. The guests, terrified, start exiting the hotel and crowding the hall ways, while we we're covering our heads with pillows trying to sleep through it (impossible), and 20 minutes later you hear the intercom go off and someone is saying "Please do not be alarmed, we are currently conducting maintenance on our alarm system - This is just a test".... When you call the front desk they politely apologize but that doesn't fix the misery. Mind you that I've been staying here every other month for over a year, and it's almost always the same case... I am from out of town and the only reason I stay here is because of the convenience of being a block away from my meetings. Also every airline apparently uses this hotel for its flight crew and staff, so every time you come to check in, there is a 40 minute wait while they check in an entire airline. Perfect location to play around in the city. Every staff member we encountered was very pleasant. The room wasn't gigantic, but it's midtown manhattan, you can't expect a texas-sized room. The room was clean and nice, the bed was a sleep-by-numbers one- pretty comfy! The only slight downside was that there were no blankets at all in the room, just a […] sheet. If we'd gotten far too cold we could've probably called the concierge desk for one, but it wasn't a big issue. We were a little skeptical after reading the reviews and knowing the hotel was renovating, but we hoped for the best. It did help to see that the manager was actively commenting on reviews. We stayed here for 2 nights during July 4th weekend after getting a great deal on Expedia. Upon check in, we were greeted at the door and quickly got our room. Our […] room was a recently renovated executive king room. It was very clean and really big for a NYC room. It had 2 full bathrooms, 2 closets, a bed, a desk, and even a spot for a roll away. It appears when they renovated, they took 2 smaller rooms and made a really nice size room. Having 2 bathrooms was a huge help. Never had that before. The lobby is very open and clean. There are tables for using free WiFi in the lobby (otherwise you have to pay for it in the room - which I hope they change). We could not tell on the inside that they were still renovating (looks like they are almost done). Staff was very friendly throughout our stay. The hotel is located within walking distance (1 mile or less) to Times Square, Central Park, Grand Central, and Empire State Building. We felt comfortable walking to all the places. Nice neighborhood. Only negatives would be that there is not a coffee maker in the room or lobby (but you can pay for Starbucks connected) nor was there a continental breakfast (but we did find a quick serving breakfast place 2 blocks down for a good price). Booked 6 weeks in advance, first mistake. Receptionist told us on arrival that he gave us a free upgrade. The upgrade was from a room that had not been refurbished into one that was. No refrigerator in room, had to order one. Free wifi in lobby but not in your room. I am not allowed to post any rates here they say. It cost more then 4 Big Macs for 24 […] hours of WiFi in your room. The cost of our room was almost double the cost of what it was going for when we arrived and the day manager said that it sometimes is as much as 4 times that price. Maybe that's the way they do things in The Big Apple but I think they prey on people from out of the country to milk as much money as possible from them. We needed a quick book at a hotel for two nights in NYC after our flights got delayed. The Lexington was more than helpful with this, and when we wanted to extend our stay, easily put us up in a room without making us move rooms. We were able to put each night on a different credit card, too. We loved the ease with which we got to our room, the location […] is perfect for a short walk to Times Square. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. The beds were somewhat comfortable--I'm used to a firm mattress and this bed definitely wasn't one, but it wasn't too bad. The bathroom area was wonderful, and the decor was pleasant and made it feel like we were in our own bedrooms. Beautiful hotel, great location. Our room was on the corner of 48th and Lexington Ave and you could hear every car, truck, cab, car horn that passed by all night long. The Lexington was a fabulous hotel located in the heart of mid-town, and at a reasonable price. It's easy walking distance to Times Square, Rockerfeller Center and Grand Central Station. Our room was huge (Rm # 802). It had a king size bed and 2 (yes 2) full bathrooms. I think at one point this was two rooms, but someone knocked down the wall in between.
