"A bit run down - both the neighborhood and the hot"
On of the only reservations available on short notice. We rode into town on bikes, and definitely rode through some sketchiness to get to the hotel. Hotel is a bit aged.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Even nicer than I expected!"
I just needed a last minute one night stay that allowed pets on the way to another destination. I searched and searched on here reading reviews and selected this hotel because they all seemed good and the price was right (even a great rate for my dog). I booked a non-smoking room and happily that is what I got when I checked in. The room was very clean […] which is most important to me, and it had all amenities. The staff could not have been nicer, there were even fresh cookies in the afternoon and a nice complimentary breakfast buffet in the AM. The hotel room at my final destination did not even offer 1/2 of what this one did and it was quadruple the price! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Don't expect anything but a good night's sleep..."
We read the reviews and decided to chance it. It was short notice so we had limited options. Pros: room was quiet and dark, a/c worked well and beds were very comfortable. Cons: our linens were changed but beds were never made, both elevators were broken; we had to carry luggage 7 flights of stairs. Free breakfast would have been okay had it been h […] ot. "We would like a refund!!"
I had a horrible experience when I arrived at the hotel. Apparently, the hotel staff claimed that somebody with a "similar" last name came in and they checked that person in under my reservation. It took about two hours to resolve the problem when they finally checked me in at 2 am. The original room was on the 7th floor which they checked and was […] occupied by somebody else who they didn't know the identity of (because they thought it was me). I told them that I was very upset about the potential security risk because the hotel didn't even know who the other occupants were. They claimed there was no security risk. They eventually found a room on the third floor. That room (and entire floor) had an intense burning smell. The smell was so bad in the room that I had to wait in the hallway for the staff to come up and bring me to another room. The receptionist said that it "seemed like the smell was coming from the closet room." The receptionist personally came to the third floor with a new key and moved me to a room on the second floor. There was no hot water in the shower, the room was disgusting, and the refrigerator had mold growing in the freezer. In addition, the place was a dump! It was by a truck stop - no running hot water, the rooms were disgusting & dirty - I never want to go there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Room Not Ready?"
Normally I don't write reviews, but I feel obligated to when the experience is either very exceptional or dreadful. When I arrived at the Ramada, tired from 1200 miles of travel over 2 days, it was 10:45 pm. I entered the hotel, identified myself to the woman working at the front desk, and while she confirmed my reservation, she uttered the following, […] "We fell behind in cleaning rooms today; I expect your room will be ready in about 30 minutes." Huh? I have never checked in so late and had to wait for a room. I will give her credit in that she accurately predicted the amount of time it took for housecleaning to get my room ready -- it was set at 11:15 pm. In the meantime I overheard her tell guests calling the hotel that they were booked up -- no way that could have been true, as at least half the parking lot was empty. There were at least 2 other guests in the same situation waiting for rooms. The room was okay, but it is obvious walking through the halls that not much is being put into hotel maintenance. Anyplace that is still cleaning rooms after 11:00 pm is a place that I wouldn't take a chance on in the future. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Missed my wake-up call, ran out of toothebrushes"
Stayed there for the bar exam so they were swamped, but still: one of the desklamp in my room didn't work (in fact, I needed to ask for lightbulbs on my own, and it still only worked for one lightbulb). I asked for it to be fixed, left to go get dinner, but it was never fixed. The door wouldn't shut all the way unless you really pulled on it hard, which […] is a security issue. They completely bombed on my wakeup call for the bar exam (it didn't matter because I was already up), and when I needed a toothebrush I called down to the front desk, but they had run out. Highlight was the bed itself and free bfast. Bfast was solid. nice people seem to be hard working, it's just a run-down building at this point and a tough hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"very nice service people, great breakfast"
The hotel was fine. The people working there were super nice and the breakfast was really good- scrambled eggs and hash browns! The air conditioning unit in the room was the old kind,, very noisy when it came on- kept waking me up at night. I would stay here again- but with earplugs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"There for business"
Hotel has slow drains in the room. Food was below average even if it would have been a fast food joint. Suspect frozen microwave in a plastic wrapper. Eat out if you go. Staff was courteous and prompt but there's only so much you can do with an old motel. Need to put some of your money back into the place.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Bar Exam Hotel"
Stayed here for the July 2014 bar exam. Definitely would NOT recommend doing that. The hotel is very dirty and is located on a main road. I was woken up throughout the night to truck horns honking, even with ear plugs in. The room was very dirty and out-dated. I wish I would have spent more money for a better hotel nearby (I visited a couple that were […] FAR superior). The only positives of this hotel were the complimentary breakfast and the location was close to the exam. I would only stay here if there are absolutely no other options. "Terrible hotel, dirty and smelly."
Staff is kind but that doesn't compensate for the shape the hotel is at. Breakfast is also really bad. Also if your on the second floor there are these house engines outside your window that make lots of noise. The window in our room was all rusty and did not fully close. Towels were old and did not have a good feel.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is too old and outdated. There is a very old smell to it and nothing including plumbing has been updated.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Do not stay here"
Pictures, not up to date and do not depict condition.Hair on toilet, in sink, and bathroom wall. Layer of dust on outside fridge and trash/crumbs on bathroom floor. Had to point out trash to staff. Later, when going to restroom my husband returns to room pulling sheets back. States long hair just fell of chest and it definitely was not mine. Upon inspection […] noted 2 clumps of hair under my pillow and in between our pillows. Walked down to from desk, friendly offered change sheets, voucher for their restaurant. By my face he knew I was over it and offered another room. Strong pungent urine odor down 2nd floor. Window open next room. Bathroom appeared "more clean." Began to inspect bed with assistance of IPhone flashlight, lamp did not come on. Last pillow, long curled up hair under it. In tears now, visiting for commencement ceremony .Called to inform the front desk. He apologizes, discusses how he can't refund my money because booked through 3rd party website. Informed just wanted clean, comfortable, night of sleep. Husband asks to go back to the other room after sees flying bug,no smell ,knew it was cleaned. Offered change sheets. Waited about 20 minutes before same young man helped before came to door and asked my husband if he didn't mind changing sheets due to "issue in laundry room. I was over it at that time and we checked out next day. Same person behind front desk drove us to airport. Clearly needs staff even though they try to do recovery. Management is issue. We needed a hotel that would provide free parking for a week and shuttle service to and from the airport. The Ramada Plaza Albany did that, but not much more. The room and bathroom were tiny and poorly maintained. There was a plastic wrapper on the floor under the sink area, obviously from a previous guest.. The toilet flushed, barely. The bedside light […] was not plugged in and there was no outlet in evidence. When we called the front desk about that, a maintenance man arrived shortly, pulled out the bed from the wall, sprawling all over the sheets as he stretched to plug the light in the concealed outlet. The desk light was not functioning either, so he replaced a bulb and it still did not work. He said, "Doesn't anyone inspect these rooms?" Indeed. He also checked the toilet and said it was working but just slow. The worst problem occurred about an hour later when I took a shower. The drain did not work; after a couple minutes in there the tub was half filled with water and I exited. Not a good time to call the maintenance man. Finally, it's good the alarm on my cell phone worked, because the requested wake-up call never happened. The other room, for our daughter and her family, was also sub-par and had lighting issues but not the long list of other problems The courier service, which had been our priority, was adequate but not exceptional: grubby van, slow response time on return, and my husband and son-in-law loaded and unloaded most of the bags for our six-person party. "Close to SUNY,shopping, food, mall's"
I stayed here a week and a half before this stay because my son is attending a summer program at SUNY Albany and it is close by plus we stayed in the same room so that was a plus for we knew we enjoyed it before. The staff is GREAT.I read a lot of the reviews people posted about how bad this place is,well I'm not no fancy person who thinks everything […] has to be perfect.Housekeeping is always doing something and helpful. The only thing I can say is the Ramada should have their heating/air conditioners cleaned. They would save so much money if the units would turn off when it reaches the desired temperature.I used a tooth brush to clean between the fin's for the whole unit was plugged.I did that my first visit and it started to work properly, but it needs a professional cleaning company clean them.It stopped it from making a terrible noise but it come on go.But everything was just fine enjoyed it.Breakfast was good. Will be staying here a lot more once my son starts college full time. It was great. The shuttle was perfect. Everyone was really nice. The only problem we had was the charge to our credit card for indemnitys. We never used anything in the room. It was credited back but not until our bank got involved. I was told because the card was a debit and credit card they have had issues and apologized for the error. Other then […] that we will definitely stay again. Breakfast is included and is awesome. Elevator was scary. Needs repair. Shakes a lot. Room and bed very comfortable and quiet. "We survived...is the best way to say it."
Ok...it was not what I was expecting. Although, I should have, based upon the price. My initial thought? The interior door, leading to the lobby is not automatic. I don't know of any hotels without that. They had one exterior auto door, but it was set at open...sooo, may or may not have worked. The lobby is dark. There was a sign posted near the elevator, […] stating the water would be turned off the next day (sat.,july 4th) 12pm-2pm. It turned out that the sign was old...& yet, it remained up, even when we checked out 3 days later. I'm digressing... anyway, upon first walking down the hall to my room, the hallway smelled like urine. The room was ok. the bathroom looked old. The ceiling panels in there were a mess (from water damage at some point in history). We found 1 or 2 hairs on the bed cover, so took it off. The breakfast? Well...i went down & gave the selection the once over. & decided, nah... that's ok. The good that I will say... there were 2 housekeepers Mimi & Owa(sp?), who were terrific! Also, there was a gentleman working the front desk that was super, also. I won't likely stay there again, but if you're on a budget & bring your Clorox wipes to wipe everything down for peace of mind, you could do a lot worse. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Conveniently right off the I-90, and affordable"
The place was perfect for what we needed - an inexpensive but clean hotel room before our long drive the next day. The only service that wasn't worth a "5" in my mind was the breakfast - it felt very much like a hotel breakfast in that the food wasn't great. "Close to SUNY Albany and shopping."
The staff was great, they were always working everyone I saw was.The room was very nice bed's and pillow's were so comfortable. My only complaint was the heater/a/c unit needed to be cleaned.I removed the cover which just sit's over the unit and bought a tooth brush and tried to clean in between the finn's because the dust and dirt was about a inch thick […] and the unit wouldn't run right.I cleaned it for about 45 minutes and it started to run right somewhat the air got colder and when it got to the proper temperature it would finally turn off otherwise it just run non stop. That would be nice if they had someone clean them and put a filter in them,it would save them a lot of money to run them if they worked right and not 24/7.But all in all I booked another 2 day's for this up coming weekend for business. The over all motel is great and staff just ready to help always ask if you need anything and very pleasant.Be nice if I could get a better deal this coming trip but already booked. This hotel appears somewhat beyond its prime. A bit dingy, and things look worn and outdated. Our first room - the tilet was broken and had been repaired with electrical tape. "This place is a dump!"
We booked 6 rooms for our team for one night traveling through Albany on our way to Cooperstown. Website says "remodeled" rooms etc and I called requesting those rooms. We got in late, around midnight and we of course we got the older rooms but we were fine with that until we opened the doors. They were all super sketchy with flickering lights, water […] stains on wall and ceilings, missing art on the walls, 40 year old carpeting and linens. Our door would lock but when you push on the door the whole door frame would wiggle and I felt like only a little effort would bring the whole door and frame down. Bathrooms had wallpaper peeling off the walls and the list goes on and on. We opened the door and and I told my son to carry the bags in and he said "I am not going in there first!" From the phone conversation it sounded like only a few rooms had not been remodeled and when I inquired about the updated rooms they said, "well only the paint and carpet has been re-done". I felt like had been a victim of the bait and switch routine. "not anywhere close to downtown Albany"
The hotel bus was not available when I arrived so I had to pay $22 to get from the train station to hotel. Looks close to downtown on the map but actually it's not at all. Major construction going on at the facility so front entryway all torn up. Only one bartender who doubled as wait staff in the lounge at night so we did order food which eventually […] came cold. It seemed to be frequented by a lot of regulars so he served them first. Breakfast in the morning wasn't bad. The hotel is a dated, 70's vintage in both style and condition. That's not enough to dislike it though, except it also wasn't clean, or door knob fell off when we opened the door, and another guest swore at me in the hall when I asked her to quite down and stop running down the halls after 10pm when my family had an event early the following morning. Hotel in desperate need of an update/renovation. It is right off the highway and easy to find. Lacks a little in comfort-very low toilet (tough on sore , old knees) and no hand towels were in the room.
