The first room I was given had no working lights or working tv. The second room had a blocked toilet which overflowed. The bath and tiles looked dirty. The shower was broken as was the bath plug mechanism so the only way to have a bath was to keep the taps running at full blast. It was constantly noisy. A mistake was made with my booking so I had two […] people knocking on my door to tell me to check out, the second person battered on the door and then walked in while I was still undressed! There's no extra facilities such as wireless internet, HBO or in-room coffee making. In it's favour, it's a nice building and the guy on the front desk during the daytime was really nice and helpful. You get what you paid for! Hotel is really in bad shape, rooms are big but poorly decorated and towels and bed are in bad condition. The only good thing is that you have free parking and to go to french quarters takes you 5 minutes and a 10 dollar taxi.

This place is horrible!!!!! In our room the AC didn't work, the hot water in the shower was broke, there was no smoke detector, the light was out in the bathroom, and the floor looked liked it wasn't vacuumed in at least 6 months. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

This is absolutely the worst place I have ever stayed. I should have heeded the other reviewers advice, but we were there for the Final 4 and by the time we realized how bad it was we had very few options. The place had no amenities, not even a fridge in the room. The cleanliness was not very good. It wasn't filthy, but the sheets were very questionable, which is what really stood out as bad. I'm not particularly diva-ish, and I was just looking for a last minute deal for Spring Break in NOLA. I was a little apprehensive about Midtown Hotel after reading the online reviews, but the stay wasn't that bad. I had a clean place to sleep and shower, and I spend most of my days in the Quarter, so it all worked out well.

This hotel is in a very sketchy area, next to a nightclub. There were things from past guests left in the room and the windows didn't lock. The overall look of the room/hotel in general was dirty. I left this hotel immediately after checking in.

This hotel was ghetto style. It was near Xavier University but still in a bad part of town. This place is nasty. Our room did not have a window to the outside (but there was a window out to the hallway so people could see into the room). The entire place stunk like mold and cigarettes. We had to stand in line with 3 other people complaining about worse stories in their rooms. No phones in the rooms. My favorite was when the manager explained that it would cost $39,000 to get phones in the rooms. HAHA, well I guess you shouldn't waste your money then! On the contrary, we were nice to the hotel employees and they were very nice and moved rooms for us. They also helped us with transportation and knowledge of the area. The location is great. Good for college students who don't care about the hotel when they are down for Mardi Gras. A little too far to walk to the French Quarter, and don't rely on the bus stop that is right down the street, but cabs were easy to get and not that expensive.

You will be so disgusted with this hotel. Hair all over the bathroom floor, dirty towels, cracked fixtures, NOTHING WORKS (vending machines, ATM, change machine, elevator), broken purple tv with no remotes, drilling in the ceiling at 4am, they booked us in the same room with other people, no housekeeping, wet spots on the floor like a pipe was leaking […] under the carpet, RUDE AND IGNORANT STAFF, the pool looks like someone puked in it, and they charged me an extra $215 after I had already paid through hotels.com. I've been going to NOLA for close to 20 years but had a hard time finding a room so I did a search and this place popped up. When we opened the door to the room, you could tell that very recently someone had kicked the door in and they repaired it by nailing the broken pieces into the frame. I asked to be moved 7 times and was told each time "you'll […] have to speak to a manager". Well guess what? The manager was NEVER on-site and never attempted to make contact w/ me. The shower flooded each and every time and when you went to the front desk to complain (yes, you have to go to the front desk as they don't have phones in the room), guess what? The first thing was the customer service, they were rude. Their housekeeping staff was rude, and outright lied to me several times about bringing me more towels and changing the bed. I found a cigarette butt in between the sheets after the lady had already told me the sheets were new. 3 days in a row we had to go down to the front desk and ask them to turn the hot water on. Apperantly there is a switch for this that they shut off at will. Bed sheet (no blankets provided) had orange stains on it. Floor squeaked unforgivingly loud throughout the room, so bad that the guest below us would pound on the ceiling. And an on duty staff that doesn't make eye contact with you when you are speaking to them-- as if you are interrupting their facebook personal time. I have stayed in cheap hotel/motels before, but this really was nothing more than a bunch of abandon rooms with a neon sign still functioning. Squatters live better than that. I would not like to stay in this hotel again. The receptionist who gave me a room was very polite but during the second day of my stay, i went out and when i tried to get inside my room, i found that key is discharged. when i asked the lady at the front desk for charging my key then she said that she does not find me in the system and so she can not […] get me in the room. I showed her my confirmation no. and asked her to ask the man who gave me this room. she said that he was not the manager and manager did not allow me to get inside. I told them that this is your system fault if i am not in there and this is your fault if the key you gave me is not working after one day of stay. Finally she talked to the manager again and i was give the key for the room. The other things which were disappointing were, the heat was not working in the room and even after complaining, no body came to fix it. TV was also not working and no body came to fix it even after asking them for it. I was in room 315. On the plus side, this place is dirt cheap and only three miles from downtown New Orleans. We were able to walk to the trolley from the hotel to get downtown and take a pretty cheap cab to get back. We felt reasonably safe at the hotel, although we definitely wouldn't have tried to walk around at night. The woman working at the front desk was very pleasant […] and helpful. On the negative side, it is pretty gross. We brought our own sheets and towels, which was good b/c our bed didn't have a fitted sheet (just a flat sheet) and only one towel for two people. The shower didn't have a have a shower head (just spewed water at you) and didn't drain properly. I wouldn't stay there again, but I would say if you're in a crunch and need somewhere to stay for one night it will be ok Read more

When we entered the room I was surprised to see no telephone or clock radio. The toilet did not flush. I saw that the water was turned off to it. When I turned it on the valve was leaking heavily. I let the water run across the bathroom and drain into the wall. I was part of a group that had been steered to the hotel and they all reported similar conditions. […] I was in a room with 2 beds and the box springs of one appeared to have a large rat hole in it. Some guests reported bed bugs and left to sleep elsewhere. It was difficult to sleep partly because of the noise of people drinking and loudly talking outside. The public restrooms had doors that would not shut, and when they ran out of toilet paper the front desk said nothing could be done until the manager "woke up". Hotel was pre-paid through Hotels.com and upon check in front desk still was trying to charge me!!! So she "gives" us the room and the next day another hotel representative said we owed a balance. The employees there are horrible! We ended up getting a free night bc management saw we were indeed already paid for. There were no big towels only hand towels […] the whole weekend bc their "dryer" was broke! Homeless people are given vouchers to live there so you can only imagine the type of people "hanging" in and around the hotel. Crack heads and prostitutes! One guy asked to use our car!? Only positive was that the hotel is about 1 mile from downtown, and pretty cheap. Other than that, there's not a lot of good to say about it. Run down, no fridge/microwave, no hot water, and very questionable neighborhood. Not recommended
