Room was comfortable as long as you don't mind 80's style furniture. Underground parking is great if you can live with the price of $23 @ day. I enjoyed my stay. I thought parking was a bit expensive . Staff were attentive. The toaster did not work and the shower was difficult to turn on.The bed was comfortable but a couple of average sized cushions for the sofa would have been nice.

We enjoyed visiting Parliament and surrounding museums and being able to walk to the many different locations such as the above mentioned and Rideau canal and By ward market. We loved the location. There were workers on the street to direct you and give information in regard to areas near the Parliament.

The hotel is a bit old although the upkeep is OK. They upgraded me to a two-bedroom suite, which has a fully equipped kitchen, two TVs, Wi-Fi, and air conditioning in two bedrooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. For downtown Ottawa, where hotel prices (as well as everything else) are exorbitant, the hotel seems a good deal.

I'm sure the Cartier Place does a good business hosting folks temporarily relocated to Ottawa. It's fine as a kind of crappy apartment, but I don't want to stay in a kind of crappy apartment when I'm on vacation or on a business trip. The halls of the hotel feel like a college dorm, the in-room furniture and bedding are straight out of a 1980s Sheraton, […] and the wallpaper and flooring seem to have been peeled out of a doctor's office. The room I stayed in was completely worn. The faucet in the shower was coming loose from the wall, and all the grout in the bathroom was gray and dirty. Having a kitchen might be nice, but not when the room smells like the food cooked by the 128894 guests that stayed in that room before you. Seriously, the room had the odor of a mens room at Burger King. Staff was really nice -- but I've never met anyone in customer service in Ottawa that isn't overwhelmingly nice. The hotel itself is just lousy. For not that much more, you could stay at the Business Inn, two blocks up on fun Elgin Street (seriously, stay in the neighborhood -- TONS of great restaurants and bars for all ages) and have a much better version of what the Cartier Place is trying to offer. Or you could stay closer to centretown and pay a little bit more and actually enjoy your vacation/business trip. Read more

Quiet, clean, well-run hotel. Room was spacious and comfortable. Staff very friendly. Easy walking distance to downtown sites. No free breakfast but restaurant attached to hotel sold a good, reasonably priced breakfast. Free wireless internet in room that was reliable, though it was somewhat slow. Definitely recommend.

Stayed one night midweek and were very happy with our choice. Very spacious rooms and the two room option is nice for parents. Courteous desk staff, excellent location and a pool. Internet service can be slow. Be aware of Can$21 parking charge (not unreasonable).

hotel is very clean, perfect location for access to all of Ottawa with the Canal Parliament Hill the Glebe and Elgin street shops and restaurants all an easy walk. The furniture was not luxurious, but it was adequate. The kitchen had everything you need, including dishes and stuff to cook, and we used it for half of our meals. Opted for the Cartier Suite hotel on our trip to Ottawa. IT was a good choice. Liked the suite idea and were able to use the fridge and microwave and dining area. Decor was a little dated to the early 90s but the staff was very nice and there are a number of nice restaurants and bakeries in the area for dinner or breakfast. This hotel was in a wonderful location, blocks from most of the things we wanted to do. We didn't take our car out of the garage for three days - just walked everywhere! The hotel was clean and comfortable, no noise at all, the balcany was fun to have, and the kitchen very coonvenient.
