The bar staff was amazing. Part of my trip was beer tasting and they had a great beer list and recommendation in the city. The restaurant had great food as well. Hotel was walking distance from the Capitol. Quite a way to the Metro trains and you have to walk through seedy parts of town either way. I rented bikes from Capitol Bike stations around town […] and the closet station that I could find to the hotel was 5-10 blocks away and not convenient. Again, this was a walk through a seedy part of town. Front desk staff was indifferent and seemed bothered to talk to me. At one point, I waited 2-3 minutes for a staff conversation to end before I was not helped. I had an issue with the laundry service. I left laundry expecting a $15+tax charge. When it was returned, the charge $42+tax. It turns out that I classified my shirts wrong. Unfortunately, I was not given the opportunity to decline. I would have declined since I could have replaced them for the same price. This was ultimately changed after 3 visits to the front desk and a lot of "I don't know" replies and no follow up. Disappointing. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
All hotel staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to assist us in making our stay pleasant! Disappointed the rooftop deck was not available to sit up on and enjoy the spring evenings (mid/late April visit) and the fire pit out front was restaurant operated so couldn't really just hang there either. Excellent food at the the restaurant […] Art & Soul with equally attentive staff! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location but could not sleep"
The hotel is in a great location close to the capitol and downtown DC. However, when we walked into the room there was a bit of a smell in the room that was surprising. At night, the air did not seem get cooler despite the fact that the AC was set to 65F. The sheets did not seem to make me comfortable either. I stayed at the Revel in Atlantic City the […] night after and it was so much better at a lower price. Overall, I felt that the Liaison is in a great location but overpriced considering the cons. Well located. Hotel was close to Union Station so made it easy to take the Metro. Also, helped that it was a stop on the Big Bus Tour line. We also walked to most of the sites. It was a reasonable distance to the National Mall.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I liked that the wifi was free in the end... The bar seemed always busy and maybe not enough seating in the common area to sit and visit. The room was clean and I lived the location, the concierge was very helpful and so were the bellman. I also liked that they provided drinking water in the room... The only thing missing was a continental breakfast. […] But with a Starbucks close it wasn't a problem. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent location - very close to national museum"
Hotel is clean but desperately needs renovation, windows could not be open, it was very important to us - no real fresh air, water in the sink was hardly running, TV was not working well, the bath room clean but very small, no fridge, the staff downstairs looks a little scary...Genuine Expedia guest review
"close to Capital Hill."
it was a good experience. close to where I want to go. walk to capital hill and most of the museums and memorials. but no good restaurants around.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Stylish hotel near the Capitol"
Loved the contemporary style of the room. Everything looked new and clean. Walking distance to most museums. Would love to stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ok, not great"
Stuck up staff at first when checking. They wanted me to tell them if I already paid through expedia, which was ridiculous, of course I did!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel but too close to fire station"
Had a nice time, used parking elsewhere to save money. Wish the deck was open before memorial day!Genuine Expedia guest review
The walls are a bit thin, so if you are a light sleeper, I would request a room away from others, if possible. Also, sometimes I receive an attitude from from desk staff when I have booked through hotels website, and the front desk staff were courteous and friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to everything"
Walking distance to union station. Close to capital and White House loved itGenuine Expedia guest review
Nice staff, clean room, tasty room service, and a great location. I recommend this hotel highly.Genuine Expedia guest review
Super helpful staff! Close to the mall. Clean! Reasonable and close in the city. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They ere willing to help and work with us.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very close to Union Station if coming by train"
Great hotel, super comfortable, close to Capitol, close to cheap and good eating, great staff, and very important: close to the train station (if you are a new yorker and a good walker, you know what I mean!)Genuine Expedia guest review
I was visiting my daughter nearby Capitol Hill neighborhood. Never stayed here and pleased with the location near Union Station and close to restaurants.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to the capital and various places."
My sheets had a stain on them, and the room was a lot smaller than I imagined. The walls are very thin, and I'm not a "city" person so the sirens kept me up all night. No big deal though. We had to wait an hour for our room to be ready after a long drive and an infant with us. There is a walmart close by if you need one. The water in the rooms are outrageously […] expensive. So bring your own. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable and convenient hotel"
Stayed at the Affinia with my son during a spring break trip to DC. The hotel is nicely appointed. The room had 2 queen beds that were very comfortable with an nice selection of pillows. The room wasn't large, with a single chair and a desk/dresser unit, but was very clean and fine for our purposes. Two cautions: the bathroom was a little cramped with […] minimal counter space for toiletries and free wireless is only available in the lobby. Which made the lobby a very popular place to hang out. The hotel itself was very convenient, located 2 blocks from Union Station with easy access to the Metro and 2 blocks from the Capital building and the Mall. Walking distance to nearly everything. The staff was exceptionally friendly, professional and accommodating. Kudos to the front desk and concierge, in particular. I should note that the restaurant in the hotel, Art and Soul, was excellent. A very good menu and a fine wine list to match. The bar was also very pleasant and surprisingly lively. All in all, I would highly recommend the Liaison. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Location and Great Staff"
Right next toi the Capitol Building. The staff could not have been nicer. I would stay at this hotel everytime I visit Washington.Genuine Expedia guest review
"We don't have your room available!"
Hotel was ok, but we were told we would have to use double beds. A romantic getaway, with double beds GREAT. Anyway, they gave us an accessible room, and while I appreciate hotels catering to people with needs, its inconvenient if you don't need it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Return trip, so that says something"
Rooms are comfortable but small, which is typical of the city, so not a bad thing. Restaurant seemed to cater more to the locals than the hotel guests. Close to the Capitol, but other sites can be a good hike or cab ride in cold weatherGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Central location, horrible staff"
This hotel was a cool location, most of the staff was so rude when I asked questions about my hotel bill. The hotel had my friends and my rooms mixed up. It was such a huge inconvenience to us to have to keep sorting out payments even well after we left. The room looks nice qhwn you first walk in, but they have a lot of underlining problems that came […] to surface while we were there. I will never stay jere again. "Not like what it was described, photos misled"
We got superior room for paying extra money. However, the room was not not 100 square feet bigger than deluxe room. Bathroom was extremely small, and there was only one sink in this closet-size bathroom. You have to extremely careful turn around to use the toilet. Pictures shown on the website were used fish-eye lens. Nothing was like any of the pictures. […] They mislead viewers. No contact with staff members, so could not evaluate their service. Suggest you to stay in Hyatt across the street from the liaison hotel. We have been there before. Just for a change we got this one this time. It was a high mistake. Parking was $50. More than any other hotel in the area. Room small and lobby is terribly small for a four-star hotel. Two star hotel would be appropriate. Just do not like the way the hotel is trying to mislead people by using fisheye lens to take pictures, and provide inaccurate description about the hotel and room on the website. "A comfy port in a storm"
Hotel Liaison was a welcome site due to winter weather complications in Washington DC. During and after the storm, Liaison's convenient location made it possible to be on the Hill and city by foot, car or metro.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, decent hotel"
Overall the Liaison was a nice place to stay. Did not care for the in room toiletries. While I applaud the effort to go green, the shampoo, body wash, conditioner and lotion smelled like dirt with at hint of lemon. Fortunately it was only an overnight stay. I couldn't wait to take a shower once I arrived at home. Our "view" was of the lower rooftop. […] It was very dirty with a lot of loose trash. Although our room was clean, this gave the impression that it may not really be all that clean. We usually stay at the Hyatt across the street from the Liaison. We will probably return to the Hyatt on our next visit to DC. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Weekend get away"
We enjoyed our stay at the Liasion very much. Everyone was very professional and courteous and our room was very comfortable. The location was central to everything and we would definitely stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Weekend away for concert"
The room was a little warm but very nice. I saw a previous review about the tv channels being messed up, I would agree. But we weren't really sitting in the hotel and watching tv. There is a fire station right next to the hotel which I didn't see before. We were actually placed on the fire station side of the hotel. Being woken by blaring sirens in […] the middle of the night was unexpected and a little alarming. All of the staff were nice though some were difficult to understand. "Great weekend stay"
My husband and I love this hotel that more feels like a boutique hotel. The rooms are very well designed, modern and clean. The beds are ultra comfortable and the bathroom is a good size. "Ideal location, good service."
Have stayed here twice in the last few years, both times have been very positive experiences. The hotel's location is ideal -- 5 mins' walk from union station, 10 mins from the Mall and the museums. Service is great too -- checked in at noon, was able to get to room right away. Restaurant is fantastic and a perfect place for a drink or a meal. Highly […] recommended for the price. "Convenient with good service"
The staff was very helpful and the hotel lobby was very nice and lively. The room had everything needed. "Good hotel yet not customer friendly."
Great location but it had some issues that will make me change hotels next time. My issues were no vending machines and no water except the $6 bottle in the room. When I ordered food from an outside restaurant, I went to the desk to pick up my food and ask where the vending machine was so I could buy a soda. I was I formed that they do not have any. "comfortable and convenient"
A friend and I spent a 3 day weekend visiting with our daughters who live in DC. We all stayed at the Liason - the staff was so accomodating, giving us rooms next to each other and making recommendations about places to visit. The rooms are comfortable and clean--will definitely stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Disappointing customer service"
Very disappointed. Fan was not working properly, staff's response time was way too long for an emergency during midnight. Do not meet standards for frequent business travelers.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A Weekend with a Grandson"
I took my grandson (age 7) to D.C. to see the sights and visit the museums. He loved everything about the hotel. We were on the top floor, had a great view, and the beds were super comfortable. The restaurant accommodated a child's taste for a reasonable price, even though they don't have a specific kids menu. The food was very good.
