This hotel is situated on the corner of Van ness street and Lombard street which is ten minutes walk from Fisherman's wharf and the bay- which is great if you want to be slightly away from the tourist hot spots and crowds. Its a five minute walk away from the famous crooked street at the top of Lombard street and you can catch one of the famous cable cars from the wharf which will take you into the city centre. The hotel was clean (apart from slight damp around the windows) and we had a fantastic golden gate bridge view. The hotel staff were pleasant and were pleased to help with enquiries. Breakfast was included in the price of the stay which was good although was mainly continental and the breakfast room was always very busy. We were advised if we couldn't find a table in the morning to take what we wanted on a tray to our room. We really enjoyed our stay and thought the price was very reasonable! We would stay there again.

The rooms were also very cramped.the breakfast was minimal if you could find a chair to sit on. Found this hotel budget rating. Stayed in much cheaper hotels with better rooms and service. We had a great experience at this hotel. We got there early and they gave us a room immediately which was very unexpected. And although you have to pay to park your car we only had to pay for one day even though we were there from 8am in the morning to 1pm the next day. The staff was great. The rooms were clean and it was within walking distance (1 to 2 miles) to fisherman's wharf. Only drawback is that if you plan on going any other place such as shopping area you will not be able to walk. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located walking distance to the Wharf area, to cable cars, & the local bus lines making getting around San Francisco easy & convenient. The view of the Golden Gate bridge was spectacular.

Parking garage is absoluely terrible. The design is awful. You have to lug your luggage up stairways from your car to get to the one level with an elevator. Parking places were lined at such an angle it ws most difficlt to get our car in or out of the parking space. To pay $26 per day extra to park in such a miserable manner is to me inexcuseable. Otherwise the location adn hotel are great.

The room had FREE Internet, a Coffee Maker, and FREE Continental BREAKFAST in the morning. At night, I had a drink at the bar across the street and it was a friendly place (Black Magic was the name). The best thing about this hotel is that it does offer views of both the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. The breakfast is nice to have. It's convenient to get something before we go out since there really weren't very many restaurants near the hotel. We walked down to fisherman's wharf area for lunch. I would have liked more choices of places to eat near the hotel, especially since we arrived a little late and had not eaten. Although you do need to walk quite a bit, the hotel is not too far from most tourist attractions. There's also a bus line that runs right in front. If you're up for walking up a couple of steep hills you'll be at the top of Lombard (Crooked Street) hill. That was a nice surprize.

The Comfort Inn was located ideally for what we wanted to do and see while in the area. The hotel staff was friendly and courteous, the room was clean and made up promptly each day, and the continental breakfast was actually quite good (gotta love those waffles!) We didn't rent a car and didn't want waste time researching the bus schedules (a mite too confusing for us simple country folk), so we walked just about everywhere without trouble. We felt quite safe in the neighborhoods, even at night. Being an engineer, I did quite a bit of research before our trip regarding price, location, and services and decided on the Comfort Inn as being optimal. We were not disappointed. I'd stay there again without question.
