The wife enjoyed the rose gardens across the street. I enjoyed the easy access to downtown (bus stop right out front, easy to call for a taxi, or walking). We both enjoyed the reasonable pricing, friendly staff, and peace & quiet away downtown

I stayed here because of its proximity to Vector Arena which is about a 10 minute walk away. The SkyBus picks up at the airport and drops off in the city about 20-30 minute walk away from the hotel which was great. Staff was helpful. Internet was not included and came at an additional cost $20/1GB but they do offer 20MB free in the lobby however goes […] super quick depending on what you're doing. There is a plaza about 5 minutes away before Vector Arena with mostly takeout food and a liquor store so if you need anything it's not that far away. It is currently under rennovations (which we did not hear at all) and this upgrade will really benefit the overall customer experience. All in all the room (King bed) was clean and tidy. However, the white walls were completely bare and could have done with some nice artwork. Some of the bathroom tiles were chipped and just puttied over where I feel the tiles could have just been replaced and the bathroom door was a little worse for wear at the bottom. There was no real difference in temperature even with the ceiling fan on high. Unfortunately the position of the ceiling fan was awkward as it was positioned close to the balcony meaning there was no real cool air coming from the fan so I had to rearrange the furniture and move the bed closer to the fan. It's not the worst experience I've had but the humidity in the room did keep me up most of the night. The great thing about Rose Park is that it's located close to the city and Parnell village. It's a good place to stay, away from home..convenient, accessible, pretty place not 100% door squicking with strong wind, but surely, good value for money. The Rose Garden realy a bonus, quick swim in judges bay, stroll in Parnell. I will come and definitely will try the restaurant.

Very pleased with everything - only thing that I would do to make perfect would be to fix cracked tiles on bathroom floor, regrout tiles and do something about fixing the bottom of the bathroom door - probably result of water damage. We have always stayed in this hotel during our visit to Auckland. The quality has certainly dropped compare to what it was under the Kings Gate hotel umbrella. in our room the ceiling fan was vibrating and rattling badly, we felt it was going to come down on us, later we changed room. Staff and Restaurant were great. Beds were comfortable and cleanliness was immaculate. Disappointed that the rooms were a little small and also, the taps in the bathroom were nothing short of a mystery. Difficult to operate, shower had one speed, only the temperature of the water varied and soundproofing is non-existent.

Certainly different. Stayed for 3 nights. Luckily our room was quiet despite being on a busy road. Although room was clean and comfortable the outdated curtains and the cracked bathroom tiles need replacing. Saw Painter's van on site so assume rooms are undergoing maintenance updates. Hotel looks like it got stuck in the 70’s and has just found out that it is now 2012. The hotel room was well over due for makeover. Good to see that management was working on it though. What saved this hotel was its staff. From the warm reception at the counter and the wonderful domestic staff who serviced our room to the great service that we received […] in the restaurant. We all enjoyed our meals. One thing we didn’t like was that there was no jug so we went and brought one. We also didn’t like to take our drinking water from the bathroom so we went and brought a couple of 6 litre water bottles. The room was good value but the room was shabby, pink tiles - needs modernised, ranch slider was unlocked - poor care taken by someone - only a bathroom mirror but no power point to use appliances. We appreciated the reasonable tariff but felt that hotel is a little tired and in need of some ' TLC' especially as there were some cracked tiles and broken tiles in the bathroom and insufficient ventilation for steam. As far as location goes this place really was great. Approx 20 minute walk to the city centre and a 10 minute walk to bus stop for internal link bus to city / Newmarket/ Britomart. The bed was very soft but the room was clean. The place needs a bit of updating - - I recommend packing your own hairdryer as the one fixed to the bathroom wall is ancient! […] - - but it was clean and serviced daily. The reception staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. We didn't eat at the hotel but breakfasts are available and there is an on-site restaurant. Overall satisfactory; need to upgrade the bed we had in our room; carpet was ruined due to apparent flooding, which makes you wonder why there was no floor drain in the bathroom? Breakfast was really good and the staff were very nice and friendly. Location was also good, on the bus route.
